With VZAccess
®
, you’re in the loop, even when you’re out of the office. With wireless
Internet solutions such as BroadbandAccess and NationalAccess, along with
Verizon Wireless PC Cards, it’s easier and faster than ever to stay connected.
BroadbandAccess
Need to leave the office but don’t want to leave your broadband behind? With
Verizon Wireless BroadbandAccess, you can work outside the office at broadband
speeds. With access to America’s most reliable wireless broadband network, you can
download complex files and view email attachments at typical speeds of
400 to 700 kbps, with burst speeds of up to 2 Mbps.* BroadbandAccess EV-DO Rev A
technology delivers even faster speeds and lower latency.
PC CARD AND VZACCESS MANAGER INSTALLATION
Getting started with your new PC Card is simple. All you have to do is insert the
installation CD into your notebook computer’s CD-ROM drive. The setup wizard
will guide you through the simple installation process and help you set up your user
preferences. And with the new VZAccess Manager
SM
software automatically included
with your installation, you’ll find your card just as easy to use as it is to install.
VZAccess Manager Overview
VZAccess Manager is a powerful application tool designed to make piloting your
remote office a breeze. It allows you to manage, monitor and customize your wireless
network activity through an easy-to-use, intuitive interface. VZAccess Manager makes
it easy to connect to the Internet and your corporate intranet, to send email or TXT
Messages* and to download critical info.You’ll also be able to time your network
sessions, see the amount of data being transferred, view your usage history, link to
Verizon Wireless for product and account information, receive help and support plus
much, much more.

SETUP INSTRUCTIONS
Important: VZAccess Manager software must be installed before you
insert the PC Card into your computer for the first time. Only after
the software has been installed correctly can the computer’s
operating system successfully detect and configure the PC Card.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
To set up VZAccess Manager, you will need the following minimum
system requirements:

Professional or Tablet), or Windows Vista
Verizon Wireless PC Card
Wi-Fi adapter for Wi-Fi access (optional)
Internet browser software for Internet access or the software used by
your company for network access
Verizon Wireless data service
Note: Please wait until the setup wizard tells you to insert your PC Card. Inserting at any other time may cause
your card to install incorrectly and fail to work properly on the network.
NationalAccess
NationalAccess is the Verizon Wireless national wireless Internet service. With
the power of Verizon Wireless, users can access the Internet and send email
attachments and business applications from a notebook computer at typical
speeds of 60 to 80 kbps, with bursts of up to 144 kbps.* NationalAccess is
available in thousands of cities and towns across the nation.
Click the “Go” button on the enclosed CD to learn more about NationalAccess
online.
In most operating systems, VZAccess Manager will launch automatically on
your screen once the software is properly installed. (If VZAccess Manager
does not open automatically, you can launch it from your Start menu. Refer
to the User Guide for complete details.)

CONNECTING TO THE INTERNET
To connect to the Internet:
1. Insert the PC Card into your computer’s PC Card slot.
2. Launch VZAccess Manager (if it is not already running) by double clicking the
VZAccess Manager icon on your computer’s desktop. The VZAccess Manager
application window displays the connection options.
3. Select the connection: “NationalAccess – BroadbandAccess”.
4. Click the “Connect WWAN” button when it becomes enabled. VZAccess Manager will
show an “Authenticating…” message in the status bar and then will show a
“Connected” message.
5. Click the “Web” button to launch your web browser and connect to any public
website. Please consult the User Guide for additional information on the capabilities
of VZAccess Manager.
INSTALL VZACCESS MANAGER
1. Insert the VZAccess Manager CD into the laptop. The installer will present you
with several options. At this point, you can proceed with the VZAccess Manager
setup or exit the setup process.
2. Click “Install AC595 Drivers”.
3. Choose the “Install VZAccess Manager” option to begin the installation process.
The VZAccess Manager installation program will then open. Click “Next”.
4. A License Agreement dialog box will appear. If you agree to be bound by it, click
“I agree…” followed by “Next” to continue.
5. It is recommended that you leave the default path as is and press “Next”.
6. Click “Next” to start the installation process.
After the files are copied to your computer, the “Installation Complete” dialog box
will appear. When you press “Finish”, VZAccess Manager will automatically start and
display a setup wizard. The wizard walks you through the steps required to set up
your computer.

PC Card: when plugged into a notebook computer, this device provides
wireless data solutions.*

to your PC Card for improved performance.

TERMINATING A CONNECTION AND REMOVING THE PC CARD
Once you’re connected, the button will change to “Disconnect WWAN”.To end your
session, simply click this button. VZAccess Manager will return to its ready state.
The PC Card’s USB technology allows you to safely remove the card at any time
when you are not connected to the network. Simply grip the card by its edges and
remove it from your notebook computer. Alternatively, the PC Card may be
removed after the notebook computer is shut down or turned off.
Note: Once you have inserted your PC Card, never attempt to remove it until you have terminated your
connection.
USING THE SERVICE—SUMMARY
PC Card Overview
With your new wireless PC Card and your notebook computer, a wireless Internet
connection is available anywhere within the BroadbandAccess and NationalAccess
Enhanced Service Rate and Coverage areas.
Inserting Your PC Card
After you have installed your software, launch VZAccess Manager and you’re ready to
begin using your PC Card. Start by holding it along the edges and insert it into your
notebook computer’s PC Card slot with the label side up. VZAccess Manager will signal
that it’s ready to make a network connection.
Establishing and Terminating Connections
You’re ready to establish a connection once: a) your PC Card is properly inserted,
b) VZAccess Manager indicates a signal, and c) the display reads “Not Connected”. Just
click the “Connect WWAN” button. VZAccess Manager may take a moment to establish a
connection, but will notify you once the connection is made. Once you’re connected, the
button will change to “Disconnect WWAN”.To end your session, simply click this button.
VZAccess Manager will return to its ready state.
Note: Once you have inserted your PC Card, never attempt to remove it until you have terminated your connection.

Removing Your PC Card
After your session is over and you disconnect from the network, you’re ready to
safely remove your PC Card until your next session.
Remove your PC Card by gently gripping the card by the edges.
