Ensure that the installation and gas connections are performed by a qualified technician, following the manufacturer’s
instructions and in compliance with current local safety regulations.
Provision for ventilation
The room in which the appliance is installed must have an air supply to current B.S. 5440 - Part 2 standards.
All rooms require a permanent vent in addition to the openable window.
If there are other fuel burning appliances in the same room B.S. 5440 - Part 2 should be consulted to determine the air vent
requirements.
If the appliance is installed in a cellar or basement, it is advisable to provide an air vent of 65 cm, irrespective of the room
volume.
Gas Safety Regulations
The law requires that all gas appliances are installed by competent persons in accordance with the current gas safety
regulations. Failure to install appliances correctly may lead to prosecution.
It is in your own interest, and that of safety, to ensure that the law is complied with. The hob should be installed in accordance
with the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations, the Building Regulations issued by the Department of the
Environment and the Building Standard (Scotland) (Consolidation) Regulations, issued by the Scottish Development
Department.
In the G.B., CORGI registered installers work to safe standards of practice.
AFTER-SALES SERVICE
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
If the hob does not work properly, before calling the After-Sales Service refer to this Troubleshooting Guide to identify the
problem.
1. The burner fails to light or the flame is not even
Make sure:
there is no interruption in the electricity or gas supply and, in particular, that the gas cock ahead of the hob is open.
the gas cylinder is not empty.
the burner openings are not clogged.
the end part of the igniter is not dirty.
all the burner parts are positioned correctly.
there are no draughts near the hob.
2. The flame does not stay lit
Make sure:
the knob has been pressed long enough to activate the safety device during burner lighting.
the burner openings are not clogged at the thermocouple.
the end part of the thermocouple is not dirty.
the minimum gas setting is correct (see relevant section).
3. The electric hotpalte does not work
Check that:
The mains electrical supply is present.
The knob is turned to “0”.
4. The electric hotplate does not switch off
Check that:
The knob is turned to “0. If this is the case, disconnect the hob from the mains immediately by unplugging it.
5. Pots/pans are unstable
Make sure:
the bottom of the pot/pan is perfectly flat
the pot/pan is centred on the burner.
the grates have not been switched around or positioned incorrectly.
If the problem persists after the above checks, contact the nearest After-Sales Service.
CLEANING THE HOB SURFACE
Clean the enamelled and glass parts with lukewarm water and neutral detergent.
Stainless steel surfaces can become stained by hard water or harsh detergents if left for too long. Remove any food
residuals (water, sauce, coffee, etc.) before they become dry.
Clean with lukewarm water and neutral detergent, then dry with a soft rag or chamois cloth. Remove stubborn grime
with specific products for steel, normally available on the market.
NOTE: Clean stainless steel surfaces only with a soft cloth or sponge.
Do not use abrasive or corrosive products, chlorine-based products or scouring pads.
Do not use steam cleaning devices.
Do not use flammable products.
Do not leave acid or alkaline substances, such as vinegar, mustard, salt, sugar or lemon juice on the hob.
CLEANING THE HOB PARTS
Grates, burner caps and burners can be removed to facilitate cleaning.
Clean by hand with warm water and non-abrasive detergent, removing any encrustations and checking that no burner
openings are clogged.
Rinse and dry thoroughly
Refit the burners and burner caps.
When refitting the grates, make sure the pot stand zone is centred with the burner.
For models equipped with electric igniters and safety device, carefully clean the end part to ensure correct operation.
Check frequently and, if necessary, clean them with a damp cloth. Any dried residuals must be removed with a toothpick
or needle.
NOTE: To avoid damaging the electric ignition, do not use it when the burners are not fitted.
Remove the grates.
Remove the burner bodies.
Using a suitable socket spanner, unscrew the injector to be replaced.
Replace it with the injector required for the new type of gas.
Refit the injector
Before installing the hob, remember to apply the gas setting label (supplied with the
replacement injectors) so that it covers the existing information.
To ensure the correct adjustment of minimum, remove the knob and adjust the screw on the
cock as follows:
tighten the screw to reduce the flame height (-);
loosen the screw to increase the flame height (+).
Adjustment must be carried out with the taps at minimum setting (small flame) .
The primary air of the burners does not need to be adjusted.
With the burners lit, turn the knobs from max. to min. to check flame stability.
After carrying out adjustment, restore the seals with sealing wax or an equivalent material.
Before calling the After-Sales Service Centre, make sure you can give the following
information:
- the type of fault or problem;
- the exact model (given on the label on the product sheet/warranty);
- the service number after the word SERVICE, on the dataplate under the hob and on the
product sheet/warranty;
- your full address and phone number.
If repairs are required, contact one of the authorised After-Sales Service Centres indicated
in the warranty booklet.
WARNING

PRACTICAL ADVICE FOR USING THE BURNERS
- With the vitroceramic heating element it is advisable to use flat-bottomed pots and pans of the same width (or slightly
larger) as the hotplate.
- Avoid spilling liquids; therefore when boiling or heated, lower the heat setting
- Do not leave the electric hotplate on when not being used or with empty pots or pans on it.
- At the end of cooking, turn the knob to the closed/off position
IMPORTANT: WHEN THE HOB IS IN USE, THE ENTIRE HOB SURFACE CAN BECOME HOT.
To light a burner, turn the corresponding knob anticlockwise until the pointer is at the maximum flame symbol.
Press the knob against the control panel to light the burner.
Once the burner is lit, keep the knob pressed for about 5-10 seconds to allow proper operation of the device.
The safety device shuts off the gas if the flame goes out accidentally (draughts, momentary interruption of delivery, liquids
boiling over, etc.).
The knob must be operated for not more than 15 seconds. If, after that time, the burner does not stay lit, wait at least a
minute before trying to light it again.
NOTE: If particular conditions of the gas supplied locally make burner lighting difficult, it is advisable to repeat the
operation with the knob turned to the small flame position.
The burner may go out when the knob is released. This means that the safety device has not heated up enough. In this
case, repeat the operations described above.
- To turn on the vitroceramic heating element, turn the knob to the required setting, bearing in mind that a higher number
corresponds to more heat. The indicator lamp lit up signals that the hotplate is on. For certain types of lamps, a slight
glow could remain even with controls off.
