When Connecting Refrigerant Tubing
•Keepalltubingrunsasshortaspossible.
•Usethearemethodforconnectingtubing.
•Applyrefrigerantlubricanttothematchingsurfacesoftheareanduniontubesbefore
connectingthem,thentightenthenutwithatorquewrenchforaleak-freeconnection.
•Checkcarefullyforleaksbeforeopeningtherefrigerantvalves.
When Servicing
•TurnthepowerOFFatthemaincircuitbreakerpanelbeforeopeningtheunittocheckor
repair electrical parts and wiring.
•Keepyourngersandclothingawayfromanymovingparts.
•Cleanupthesiteafteryounish,rememberingtocheckthatnometalscrapsorbitsof
wiring have been left inside the unit being serviced.
•Afterinstallation,explaincorrectoperationtothecustomer,usingtheoperatingmanual.

Nevertouchelectricalcomponentsimmediatelyafterthepowersupplyhasbeenturned
off.Electricalshockmayoccur.Afterturningoffthepower,alwayswait10minutesor

2. PRODUCT SPECIFICATION
2. 1. Precautions for using R410A refrigerant
• Thebasicinstallationworkproceduresarethesameasconventionalrefrigerant
(R22)models.
However,paycarefulattentiontothefollowingpoints:
• Sincetheworkingpressureis1.6timeshigherthanthatofconventionalrefriger-
ant(R22)models,someofthepipingandinstallationandservicetoolsarespecial.
(Refertothefollowingtable.)
Especially,whenreplacingaconventionalrefrigerant(R22)modelwithanewrefriger-
antR410Amodel,alwaysreplacetheconventionalpipingandarenutswiththe
R410Apipingandarenuts.
• ModelsthatuserefrigerantR410Ahaveadifferentchargingportthreaddiameterto
preventerroneouschargingwithconventionalrefrigerant(R22)andforsafety.There-
fore,checkbeforehand.[ThechargingportthreaddiameterforR410Ais1/2-20UNF.]
• Bemorecarefulthatforeignmatter(oil,water,etc.)doesnotenterthepipingthan
withrefrigerant(R22)models.Also,whenstoringthepiping,securelysealtheopen-
ingbypinching,taping,etc.
• Whenchargingtherefrigerant,takeintoaccounttheslightchangeinthecomposition
ofthegasandliquidphases.Andalwayschargefromtheliquidphasewhererefriger-
ant composition is stable.

Copper pipes
Itis necessary to use seamless copper pipes and it is desirable that the amount of residual
oilislessthan0.004oz/100ft(40mg/10m).Donotusecopperpipeshavingacollapsed,
deformedordiscoloredportion(especiallyontheinteriorsurface).Otherwise,theexpansion
valueorcapillarytubemaybecomeblockedwithcontaminants.
AsanairconditionerusingR410AincurspressurehigherthanwhenusingR22,itisneces-
sarytochooseadequatematerials.
WARNING
•Donotusetheexisting(forR22)pipingandarenuts.
Iftheexistingmaterialsareused,thepressureinsidetherefrigerantcyclewillrise
andcausefailure,injury,etc.(UsethespecialR410Amaterials.)
•Use(rellorreplacewith)speciedrefrigerant(R410A)only.Useofunspeciedrefrig-
erantcancauseproductmalfunction,burst,orinjury.
•Donotmixanygasorimpuritiesexceptspeciedrefrigerant(R410A).Inowofairor
applicationofunspeciedmaterialmakestheinternalpressureoftherefrigerantcycle
toohigh,andmaycauseproductmalfunction,burstofpiping,orinjury.

Theuseofnon-prescribedpartscancauseseriousaccidentssuchastheunitfalling,
