IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUDIO PRODUCTS
-READ THOROUGHLY
When using electrical products, basic precauons should always be followed including:
1. Read Instrucons - All the safety and operang instrucons should be read before the
product is operated.
2. Retain Instrucons - The safety and operang instrucons should be retained for future
reference.
3. Heed Instrucons - All warnings on the product and in the operang instrucons should be
adhered to.
4. Follow Instrucons - All operang and user instrucons should be followed.
5. Cleaning - Unplug this product from the wall outlet be
fore cleaning. Do not use liquid
cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
6. Aachments - Do not use aachments not recommended by the product manufacturer as
they may be hazardous.
7. Water and Moisture - Do not use this product near water-for example, near a bath tub,
wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub, in a wet basement, or near a swimming pool, etc.
8. Accessories - Do not place this product on an unstable surface. The product may fall, causing
serious injury to a child or adult and serious damage t
o the product. Use only with a stand,
bracket, or table recommended by the manufacturer, or sold with the product. Any
mounng of the product should follow the manufacturers instrucons, and should use a
mounng accessory recommended by the manufacturer.
9. Transporng - This product should be moved with care to avoid damage
or injury.
10. Venlaon - Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for
venlaon, to ensure reliable operaon of the product and to protect it
from overheang. These openings must not be blocked or covered. The
openings sho
uld never be blocked by placing the product on a bed, sofa,
rug, or similar surface. This product should not be placed in a built-in installaon such as a
bookcase or rack unless proper venlaon is provided or the manufacturers instrucons
have been adhered to.
11. Power Sources - This product should be operated only from the type of power source
indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home,
consult your product dealer or local power company. For products intended to operate from
baery powe
r, or other sources, refer to the operaon instrucons.
12. Mains Plug – The mains plug is used as the disconnect device. This disconnect device should
remain readily accessible.
13. Power Cord Protecon - Power-supply cords should be routed so that they are not likely to
be trapped in any way.
14. Lightning - For added protecon for this product during a lightning storm, or when it is le
unaended and unused for long periods of me, unplug it from the wall outlet and
disconnect the USB cable. This will prevent damage to the product due to lightning
and
power-line surges.
15. Overloading - Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords, or integral convenience
receptacles as this can result in a risk of re or electric shock.

17. Servicing - Do not aempt to service this product yourself as opening or removing covers
may expose you to dangerous voltage or other hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified
service personnel.
18. Damage Requiring Service - Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to
qualified service personnel under the following condions:
a. If the power-supply cord or plug is damaged.
b. If liquid has spilled, or objects have fallen into the product.
c. If the product has been exposed to rain or water.
d. If the product does not operate normally by follo
wing the operang instrucons. Adjust
only those controls that are covered by the operang instrucons, as an improper
adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will oen require extensive work
by a qualified technician to restore the product to its normal operaon.
e. If the product has been dropped or damaged in any way, and the product exhibits a
disnct change in performance-this indicates a need for service.
19. Replacement Parts - When replacement parts are required, be sure the service technician
has used replacement parts specified by the manufacturer or ha
ve the same characteriscs
as the original part. Unauthorized substuons may result in re, electric shock, or other
hazards.
20. Safety Check - Upon compleon of any service or repairs to this product, ask the service
technician to perform safety checks to determine that the product is in proper operang
condion.
21. Heat - The product should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heat
registers, stoves or other products (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
Important:
The normal funcon of the product may be disturbed by strong Elect
ro-Magnec Interference. If
so, simply reset the product to resume normal operaon by following the instrucon manual. In
case the funcon could not resume, please use the product in other locaon.
16. Object and Liquid Entry - Never push objects of any kind into this product through openings
as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short out parts that could result in a re or
electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the product.
The apparatus should not be exposed to dripping or splashing, and no objects lled with
liquids such as vases, should be
placed on the apparatus.

Safety Informaon
1. In order to shut o the power of this product completely, unplug the power cord from the wall
outlet or remove the connected USB cable. Be sure to unplug the unit and remove all power
supply such as USB cable or dry baeries if you do not intend to use it for an extended period of
me, such as while on vacaon.
2. Use of controls, adjustments and performance of procedures other than those specified herein
may result in hazardous radiaon exposure.
3. If this product develops trouble, conta
ct a qualified service center, and do not use the product
in defecve state.
Safety Precauons
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of re or electric shock, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture.
CAUTION
RISKS OF ELECTRIC SHOCK- DO NOT OPEN!
To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove cover or back.
No user serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
The lightning ash with arrowhead symbol, within an equilateral triangle, is
intended to alert user to the presence of non-insulated “dangerous voltage” within
the product’s enclosure that may be of sucient magnitude to constute risk of
electric shock to persons.
The exclamaon point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert user to the
presence of important operang and maintenance (servicing) instrucons in the
literature accompanying the appliance.

CAUTION: To prevent electric shock, match wide blade of plug to wide slot, fully insert.
BEFORE USE
1. Remove all packaging materials from unit. Check to make sure that you have removed all
included components before discarding the box and packing.
2. Choose unit installaon locaon carefully. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight or close to a source
of heat. Also avoid locaons subject to vibraons and excessive dust, cold or moisture. Keep away
from sources that hum, such as transformers or motors.
3. Do not open the
cabinet as this might result in damage to the circuitry or electrical shock. If a
foreign object should get into the set, contact your dealer.
4. When removing the power plug from the wall outlet, always pull directly on the plug, never
pull the cord.
5. Do not aempt to clean the unit with chemical solvents as this might damage the finish. Use a
clean, dry cloth.
6. In order to shut off the power to this product completely, unplug the power cord from the wall
outlet or remove the connected USB cable. Be sure to unplug the unit and remove
all power

CASSETTE TAPE MAINTENANCE
TAPE HANDLING:
Do not store tapes in the following places:
1. On top of heaters, exposed to direct sunlight or in any other places with high temperatures.
2. Near speakers, on TV sets or amplifiers or where they would be exposed to strong magnec
elds.
3. Where humidity is high and in dirty, dusty places.
4. Avoid dropping or subjecng ca
ssees to excessive shocks.
5. As C-120 tapes are physically weak and could become entangled in the transport mechanism,
do not use them.
LOADING A CASSETTE TAPE:
1. Use your nger or a pencil to turn the cassee hub and take up any slack
tape.
Note: Do not touch the tape because fingerprints aract dust and dirt easily.
2. Open the cassee door manually.
Note: Do not open the cassee holder during recording or playback.
3. Load the cassee tape with its open edge facing up.
4. Gently close the compartment door.
MAINTENANCE:
The h
eads and tape path should be cleaned and demagnezed periodically (Cleaning materials
not included).
CLEANING TAPE PATH:
Apply head cleaning fluid to a coon swab or so cloth, and lightly rub the heads, capstan and all
metal parts in the tape path.
Also clean the pinch roller using a cleaning fluid designed for rubber products.
DEMAGNETIZING HEADS:
Be sure that the power is o, and then demagneze the heads using a demagnezer (not
included). For details of its use, read its instrucons.

BASIC OPERATION
1. POWER
When not
connected to a computer:
DC powered: Connect one end of the AC/DC adaptor (not included) into the DC IN socket at
the side of the unit. Connect the other end into any AC outlet.
NOTE: The specificaon of the AC/DC adaptor is DC
3V, inner - outer +.
Baery powered: Open the baery door and then place 2 AA’ size baeries (not included)
into the baery compartment. Be sure to match the baery polarity shown on the
compartment (+/-). Then close the baery door.
NOTE: To prevent possible damage to this unit:
*Load new baeries with their polaries (“+” and“-”) aligned correctly.
*Do not apply heat to baeries, or internal short circuit may occur.
*If this unit is not to be used for a long period of me, remove all baeries and
store them in a cool and dry place.
*Remove old, drained baeries immediat
ely and dispose of them.
When connected to a computer:
NOTE: Remove baeries while connected to computer.
USB powered: Connect one end of the USB cable (included) to the mini USB socket on the
unit. Connect the other end into the USB socket on your computer.
2. Adjust the VOLUME knob to your desired volume level.

LISTENING TO A TAPE
1. Open the cassee door manually. Load a cassee tape with the open edge facing upward
and gently close the cassee door.
2. Select your playback output.
SPEAKER: Slide ON/OFF SPEAKER switch to ON posion and adjust the VOLUME knob to
adjust the sound level.
HEADPHONE: Slide ON/OFF SPEAKER switch to OFF posion. Turn VOLUME knob to lowest
posion. Then plug in your headphone. Re-adjust the VOLUME knob to a comfortable sound
level without any distoron. Once you’ve set your sound level, please leave the volume
alone.
NOTE: Since hearing dama
ge from loud noise is usually undetectable unl it is too late,
be sure the volume level is not too high.
3. Press the PLAY (
) buon. When the unit is ON. the BATT indicator will light up. At the end
of the cassee tape, the unit will stop automacally.
4. Press the F.FWD buon to advance the tape. When it approaches to the end of tape, the
unit will stop automacally.
5. Press STOP buon to stop the tape playback or it will stop automacally when it approaches
the end of tape playback.
RECORD TO PC
Audio from TAPE can be recorded on the computer.
To record from cassee tape, load a cassee tape into the unit and press PLAY buon to start
playback.
AUDACITY SOFTWARE
The provided CD disc contains the following soware:

The soware is compable with Window 98, 2000, ME, XP, VISTA, 7 and Macintosh.
NOTE: The Audacity does not support the latest upgraded MAC OS9.
AUDACITY INSTALLATION AND USB CONNECTION
Connect one end of the USB cable to the mini USB socket on the unit. Connect the other end into
the USB socket on your computer.
Note: To help ensure that
the Audacity soware and your computer recognize the USB
connecon, always connect your unit’s USB port to your computer’s USB port before you
open the Audacity.
Also, the volume control on the unit does not affect the recording sound input.

AUDACITY FOR WINDOWS USERS
1. Please insert the Audacity soware disk that comes with your unit. Go to “My Computer
and double click the CD ROM Drive.
NOTE: If the CD automacally launches the Set Up Wizard, please skip and refer to ‘Installing
the Audacity Soware.
2. There are ve folders in the Audacity disk. Select Audacity_for_WIN for Windows system,
and select Audacity_for_MAC for Macintosh system.
3. Double click the Audacity_for_WIN for Windows system, and double click the
audacity-win-1.2.6 to install the Audacity Soware.

INSTALLING THE AUDACITY SOFTWARE
1. The Audacity Setup Wizard will appear. Click on Next to install the soware.
2. Click on “I accept the agreement” and click on Next.

3. Connue to click on the Next buons.

Click on the Install buon to start installaon.

5. Click on Finish to complete installaon.
6. You can now open the Audacity soware and start recording your les.
NOTE: Once you set up Audacity, you do not need to re-set it with each use.

Audacity Control Buons
Use the aribute controls buon at the top of the screen to go to beginning, Play, Record, Pause,
Stop and End. Use the File, Edit, View, Project, Generate, Eect and Analyze menus to Save,
Export, and edit the music.
1. Click the (
) buon to skip to start;
2. Adjust the output volume;
3. Click the (
) buon to play;
4. Click the (
) buon to record;
5. Click the ( ) buon to pause the recording;
6. Click the (
) buon to stop the recording;
7. Adjust the input volume;
8. Click the (
) buon to skip to end;

AUDACITY PREFERENCES
1. Click the “Edit” on the Audacity interface, select “Preferences”.
The screen will open up Audacity Preferences. You can see the Audio I/O, Quality, File
Formats, Spectrograms, Directories, Interface, Keyboard and Mouse in the Audacity
preference interface.
2. Select the recording device: microphone (USB Audio Controller)
Click the “Audio I/O” at the Audacity Preferences interface.
Click the “Recording Device” arrow and select “microphone (USB Audio Controller)”.
Click the “Channels” and select 2 (stereo).
Click the checkbox “Channels” and select Soware playthrough (play new track while
recording it).
Click the “OK”.
Note: If you couldn't nd the "microphone (USB Audio Controller)" from the Device list,
close the Audacity Soware and re-open then try again.

3. Adjust the output and input volume to maximum.
NOTE: Because of the variaon of dierent operaon systems, the input volume control may
not work on some individual Windows versions. Windows Vista is recommended to ensure
the input volume control working properly.

RECORDING OPERATION
To download music to PC
1. Turn the unit ON.
2. Load a cassee tape into the unit and then press PLAY buon to start playing.
3. Click the Record (
) buon to start recording.
The waves (le and right tracks) will show on the interface.
4. At end of song, click “pause” (
) buon on computer and press STOP buon on the unit.
Replace or flip the cassee tape, and press PLAY buon to start playing the next song.
Immediately press “pause” (
) buon on computer and downloading will connue.
5. Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 unl you have finished downloading.
NOTE: Do not click stop buon on computer while connuously downloading songs.
Remember to click pause buon in between your desired songs. Press stop buon on
computer only when all your desired songs have been downloaded.
Aer your have finished downloading, you may play back the songs through your computer. In
stop mode, simply click (
) SKIP TO START buon then the ( ) PLAY buon.

GENERAL PROBLEMS FOR ALL WINDOWS VERSIONS
1. If you do not have the fluctuant wave on the interface during recording, or the recording
sounds unsased, adjust the recording volume as follows:
Click the START in the le corner of the computer, select Programs, Accessories,
Entertainment, Sound Recorder to enter Sound Recorder interface.
In SOUND RECORDER interface
Select Edit and click Audio Properes in the boom of the menu to enter Audio Properes
interface.
In AUDIO PROPERTIES interface
Select sound recording default device and click ‘Microphone USB Audio Controller’, then
click VOLUME to enter WAVE IN interface.

In WAVE IN interface
Adjust the recording volume to the middle rst, then set to lower or
higher. The uctuant wave will show on the interface when recording.
2. When the turntable is connected, you may not hear any sound if you need to listen to video
or music. It is because the default playback device has been changed to USB Audio
Controller once the turntable connects to the PC.
Recommended: Remove the USB cable from the PC.
This solu on requires you to change the se ng manually every me you connect
the USB cable with the PC.

Change the se ng as follows:
For Vista and Wi
ndows 7 users:
Click “Startand go to the Control Panel. Find and
click “Sound” icon. Click to change the playback
device (e.g., Speakers)
then click “Set Default”.
And click OK. The sound should come out.
For Other Windows versions users (e.g.: Windows
XP):
You may click “Start and nd “Programs”,
Accessories”, “Entertainment”. Click Sound
Recorder”. Then in the Sound Recorder, click
“Edit” tab and select “Audio Pr
es”.
Or, nd and click into Control Panel. Find and
select “Sound and audio device” and choose
Audio” tab.
In Sound playback, change the default device by
down pulling arrow. Select your playback device
(e.g., Microso
Sound Mapper) and click OK. Then
the sound should come out.
