Have an adult help you gather all the household items needed and supervise during the experiment.
You can use any object that contains moisture such as:

The batteries included in Circuit Beats™ are for in-store demonstration. Before playing an ADULT
must install fresh alkaline batteries. Heres how:
1. Remove the pull tab undeneath the circuit board controller and discard.
2. Using a Phillips screwdriver (not included) loosen the screw and remove the battery
compartment cover from the bottom of the controller.
3. Install three (3)1.5V (LR03)AAA alkaline batteries (not included) making sure the (+) and (-) ends
face the proper direction as indicated inside the battery compartment.
4. Replace the compartment cover and tighten the screw.

SETTING UP YOUR CIRCUIT BEATS™
NOTE: Before beginning, cover the play area to avoid possible damage from food spillage.
Unplug the cable from the right side of the controller.
Put on the speaker headband and plug it into the port on the top left side of the controller.

Plug in one wire into the grounding wire port on the bottom left side of the controller.
Plug the remaining six wires into the ports on the front of the controller.

Connect the clip on the end of the grounding wire to your index finger. Then, connect the remaining clips to
objects that conduct electricity. These are usually things that hold moisture. What else can you try?

You can record up to three seconds of your own sound! Press and hold the “REC. button to record
your beat. Speak into the mic, and then release the “REC. button. To make a new sound, record
again by repeating these steps.
NOTE: The controller will not save your previous beats once you record over them.
Choose a sound by pressing the buttons in the middle of the controller.

YOUR RECORDING
With your finger connected to the grounding wire, use your other hand to tap on the
connected objects. Sound will play from your headband speakers! To play different keys,
follow the numbers indicated above. The highest key is port 6 and the lowest is port 1.
Tip: Some items, like bananas, might need extra moisture before they make sound. Try
wetting the area under the clip with water, and then play notes!

• Remove all cables from the controller after use and rinse thoroughly with water to
remove residue from objects. Air dry only.
• DO NOT insert wet wires into the controller.
• DO NOT immerse the headband or controller in water.
• Move the switch underneath the controller to the “OFF” position after use to conserve
battery power.
• DO NOT eat any items used during experimentation. Dispose of food items immediately
after use.
