10/100 LAN CardBus PC Card
The following procedures explain how to configure the OfficeConnect 10/100 LAN CardBus PC Card for a
broadband connection on notebooks running the following operating systems: Windows 95, Windows 98,
Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me), Windows 2000, and Windows NT 4.0.
Windows 95 and Windows 98
1 Select
Start
/
Settings
/
Control Panel
/
Network
.
2 Select
TCP/IP -> FE573B-3Com 10/100 LAN CardBus-Fast Ethernet,
and then click
Properties
.
3 If your ISP provided a specific IP address and subnet mask, select
IP Address
.
4 Click
Specify an IP address:
and type the IP and subnet mask addresses in their respective
text boxes.

5 If your ISP provided WINS server information, select
WINS Configuration
.
6 Click
Enable WINS Resolution:
and type the Primary WINS Server and Secondary WINS Server
addresses.
7 If you were supplied with scope ID information, type it in the
Scope ID:
text box.
If you were not supplied with scope ID information, leave the text box blank.
8 If your ISP provided gateway information, select
Gateway
and type the IP address(es) of the
gateway(s) in the
New gateway:
text box.
After typing each address, click
Add
. The addresses will appear in the
Installed gateways:
text field.

9 If your ISP provided DNS information, select
DNS Configuration.
10 Click
Enable DNS
and type the host and domain addresses in their respective text boxes.
If you were provided with DNS server information only, type your computer name in the
Host:
text box and
leave the
Domain:
text box blank.
11 Type the DNS server address(es) in the
DNS Server Search Order
text box.
After typing each address, click
Add
. The address(es) will appear in the text field below the text box.
12 If you were provided with domain suffix information, type it in the
Domain Suffix Search Order
text box.
After typing each suffix, click
Add
. The suffix(es) will appear in the field below the text box.
13 When you are finished, click
OK
.
The PC Card is now configured for broadband service.

If you do not see the Network icon in the Control Panel, go to the Tools menu and select
Folder Options
.
Click
View
, and select
Display all Control Panel options and all folder contents
.
2 In the Network window, select
TCP/IP -> FE573B-3Com 10/100 LAN CardBus-Fast Ethernet
and
click
Properties
.
The TCP/IP Properties window will appear.
3 If your ISP provided a specific IP address and subnet mask, select
IP Address
.
4 Click
Specify an IP Address:
and type the addresses in their respective text boxes.
5 If your ISP provided WINS server information, select
WINS Configuration
.
6 Click
Enable WINS Resolution:
and type the WINS server addresses in the
WINS Server Search
Order:
text box.
After typing each address, click
Add
. The address(es) will appear in the text field below the text box.

7 If you were supplied with scope ID information, type it in the

2 Right-click
Local Area Connection
and select
Properties
.
The Local Area Connection Properties window will appear.
3 Verify that the
Connect using:
text box displays:
FE573B-3Com 10/100 LAN CardBus-Fast Ethernet
.
4 From the
Components checked are used by this connection:
list box, select
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
.
5 Click
Properties
in the Local Area Connection Properties window.
The Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window will appear.
6 If your ISP provided a specific IP address and subnet mask, click
Use the following IP address:
and
type the addresses in their respective text boxes.
7 If you received a gateway address, type the address in the
Default Gateway:
text box.
If you did not receive a gateway address, leave the text box blank.
NOTE:
You may have more than one local area connection.

8 If you received DNS server information, click
Use the following DNS server addresses:
and type the
DNS server IP address(es) in their respective text boxes.
9 If your ISP provided WINS server information, click
Advanced… in the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
Properties window.
The Advanced TCP/IP Settings window will appear.
10 Select WINS and type the WINS server address(es) in the WINS Addresses, in order of use: text field.
After each entry, click Add.

11 When you are finished, click OK, OK, and OK again.
The PC Card is now configured for broadband service.
Windows NT 4.0
1 Select Start/Settings/Control Panel/Network.
2 Select Protocols.
3 Select TCP/IP Protocol and click Properties.
The Microsoft TCP/IP Properties window will appear.
4 If your ISP provided a specific IP address and subnet mask, select IP Address.
5 Select FE573B-3Com 10/100 LAN CardBus-Fast Ethernet from the Adapter: drop down list.
6 Click Specify an IP address and type the IP and subnet mask addresses in their respective
text boxes.
7 If you were supplied with a gateway address, type the address in the Default Gateway: text box.
If you were not supplied with a gateway address, leave the text box blank.

8 If your ISP provided DNS information, select DNS and type the host and domain addresses in their
respective text boxes.
If you were provided with DNS server information only, type your computer name in the Host Name: text box
and leave the Domain: text box blank.
9 Type the DNS server addresses in the DNS Service Search Order text box.
After typing each address, click Add. The addresses will appear in the text field below the text box.
10 If you were provided with domain suffix information, type it in the Domain Suffix Search Order
text box.
After typing each suffix, click Add. The suffix(es) will appear in the text field below the text box.
11 If your ISP provided WINS server information, select WINS Address.
12 Select FE573B-3Com 10/100 LAN CardBus-Fast Ethernet from the Adapter: drop down list.
13 Type the primary and secondary server addresses in their respective text boxes.

14 If you were supplied with scope ID information, type it in the Scope ID: text box.
If you were not supplied with scope ID information, leave the text box blank.
15 When you are finished, click OK.
The PC Card is now configured for broadband service.
