SolaChrome Printhead Capping Film
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
Use these capping film sheets to protect the printheads from drying out and becoming
clogged. Refer to “Capping the Printheads” in Chapter 3 of the printer User Manual for
detailed instructions. If you wish, you may place the foam sheet shipped with the printer
underneath the capping film sheet (the film, not the foam, should contact the printheads).
This film has been specified and tested for effective capping and resistance to heat and
solvents found on this printer. Use of other films to cap the printheads may damage the
printheads and WILL VOID THE PRINTER WARRANTY.
Follow these tips for best capping:
Do not remove the small amount of ink that is purged onto the printhead orifice plates
prior to capping. This ink will help cap the head more effectively.
Smooth the capping sheet as flat as possible.
Position the sheet so that all jets are completely capped.
Position the edges within the capping station’s drip tray to catch any ink runoff.
When uncapping, remove the film carefully to avoid damaging the printheads.
Use each capping film sheet once only, then discard it.
Store the capping film sheets in their original packaging, and keep them free of contami-
nants such as fingerprints, dust, and ink until use.
