- Safety Information
This document provides safety information using the following symbols to prevent accidents resulting in injury or death
and the destruction of equipment and resources. Understand the meanings of these labels to operate the equipment safely.
DANGER indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death
or serious injury.
WARNING indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in
death or serious injury.
CAUTION indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor
or moderate injury or in property damage.
- Handling Precautions
This product is not produced or intended to be used for controlling of equipment directly concerned with human life (*1)
or maintenance of public services/functions involving factors of safety (*2). Do not use the product in such applications.
*1: Such as medical equipment of life-sustaining devices or surgical tools.
*2: Such as controlling system and security check for nuclear power plant, public transport, and air traffic where safety
is critical.
- Do not modify the product. Doing so may cause fire, electric shock.
- If smoke or abnormal odor is detected, immediately turn off the PC and peripheral devices and unplug the power
cables.
- Never touch this product with wet hands. Doing so can short-circuit the product to cause fire, electric shock, and/or
failure.
- This is a precision product. Do not strike or bend the product. Otherwise, it leads to malfunction.
- Do not use or store this product in a location exposed to high or low temperature that exceeds range
of specification or susceptible to rapid temperature changes. It may cause malfunction, or damage.
- Do not use or store this product in a location exposed to direct sun or in the vicinity of a heat source such as a stove.

- Do not use this product in the vicinity of devices that generate strong magnetic force or noise. Such products will
cause this product to malfunction.
- Do not use or store this product in the presence of chemicals.
- Do not touch metal parts or terminals of the product with your hands in operation. Otherwise, this product may

- Before handling the product, touch a metal object around to release any built-up static charge from your body to
prevent the product from being damaged by static electricity.
- It is limited in the number of cycles they can be written (rewritten) to due to the nature of its memory used.
- Do not turn off the power during SD Memory Card access (writing). Doing so may break the data.
- Do not insert or remove the card into/from a computer in operation.
- This product is designed to be plugged only in one orientation. Do not force it to be plugged in.
- Do not modify or disassemble the product. CONTEC is not liable for any modifications or disassembly.
- This User’s Guide must accompany the product upon assigning or transferring.

- Conforming to the SD Memory Card standard
- Containing no rotating or moving part as in hard disk drives, thus best suited for applications which require high
environmental resistance (to temperature, humidity, vibration, shock) and for continuous operation for extended
periods of time.
- Never making any sound such as motor rotation sound or access noise during seeking, thus best suited for
applications which require complete silence.
- Featuring greater reliability, writing sequences, and increased number of rewriting with SLC (Single Level Cell),
NAND type flash memory, it is more suited than MLC (Multi Level Cell) for industrial applications.
- Power consumption is reduced by eliminating a rotating or moving part.

- About write endurance
SD-4GB-A series have a write endurance which limits the number of cycles each memory may be written, due to the
characteristic of the memory that is used. For the write endurance, use the calculations below to obtain an estimated value.
