Email
Check and send email messages right from your phone.
Gmail
If you signed into your Google Account when you first set
up your phone, you’ll be able to send and receive Gmail
messages. From the Home screen, just tap > Gmail.
Adding your other email accounts
Use the Mail app to set up and manage your other email
accounts such as webmail, POP3, IMAP, or Exchange
ActiveSync accounts.
1. From the Home screen, tap > Mail.
2. On the Choose a mail provider screen, choose the type
of email account to set up.
If you don’t see this screen, press MENU, tap More
> New account, and then choose the type of email
account to set up.
3. Enter the Email address and Password for your email
account.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions to finish setting up
your email account.
Sending an email message
1. From the Home screen, tap > Mail.
2. If you have several email accounts, choose an account
you want to use.
3. On the email account Inbox, press MENU and then tap
Compose.
4. Tap . Then choose the email addresses of contacts to
send to.
You can also directly enter email addresses in the To
field, separating them with a comma.
5. Enter the subject, and then enter your message.
6. Tap Send.
Battery saving tips
Here are some things you can do to get the most out of a
single charge.
Turning off automatic updates
In some apps such as Weather and Stocks, turn off
automatic update:
Open the Weather app. Press MENU, tap Settings, and
then clear the Update automatically check box.
Open the Stocks app. Press MENU, tap Settings, and
then clear the Scheduled sync check box.
Turning off wireless functions
Turn off the data connection, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, and
Wi-Fi Hotspot functions when not in use.
From the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap
Settings > Wireless & networks. Clear the check boxes
of wireless functions that are not in use.
From the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap
Settings > Location. To turn GPS o, clear the Use GPS
satellites check box.
To be able to turn o wireless
functions more easily, you can
add their respective widgets to
your Home screen.
From the Home screen, tap
> Widget > Settings, and then
tap the widget that you want.
Get HTC Sync
You can use the HTC Sync software to sync contacts,
calendar, and other information between your computer
and your phone. Copy HTC Sync from the microSD card
that came with your phone and install it on your computer.
1. Connect your phone to your computer using the USB
cable that came with your phone.
2. When the Connect to PC screen appears, tap Disk drive
and then tap Done.
3. On your computer, access your phone’s storage card
which is recognized as a removable disk.
4. Copy HTCSync.exe to your computer.
5. Unmount your phone as required by your computer’s
operating system to safely remove it.
6. On your computer, double-click HTCSync.exe and follow
the onscreen instructions to install HTC Sync.
Visit our support website (www.htc.com/support) from
time to time to check for the most recent HTC Sync
upgrade so you can download and install it.
Your phone comes with a 5 megapixel camera with auto-
focus feature that lets you capture sharp pictures and
record high-definition (720p) videos.
Taking a photo
1. From the Home screen, tap > Camera.
2. Tap to use the zoom bar so you can zoom in or out
first on your subject.
3. On the Viewfinder screen, tap the flash button
repeatedly to choose a camera flash mode depending
on your lighting conditions.
4. Frame your subject on the Viewfinder screen.
5. Let the camera auto focus on the center of the screen,
or you can touch another area on the screen that you
want to focus on.
When you’re auto focusing on people, the camera can
automatically recognize faces and adjust the focus.
6. Press to take the photo.
Capture your big moments Catch up with friends in
your social networks
Friend Stream connects you to your social networks.
Share and get updates from friends in popular networks
like Facebook and Twitter in a single feed. With Friend
Stream, you can easily track your friends’ status messages,
photo uploads, and more — or comment and post your
own.

Charge the battery
The battery in your phone hasn’t been charged yet. While your
phone is charging, it’s important that you do not remove the battery
pack. Doing so can damage your phone. Also, please don’t try to
take your phone apart. (If you do, it may invalidate your warranty.)
Choose a rate plan wisely
Depending on how you use your phone, it can use up a lot of
Internet bandwidth really quickly. Before you use your phone, we
strongly recommend that you talk to your mobile operator about
data rates.
Know about privacy laws
Some countries have strict laws about how and when you can
record phone conversations. It’s a good idea to find out what the
laws are where you live before you use your phone’s recording
feature.

Get to know your phone Keep in contact
There are several ways you can add contacts to your
phone.
Synchronizing contacts from your online accounts
Sync your phone with contacts in your Google Account,
Facebook, and even Exchange ActiveSync account. In the
People app, you’ll see all your contacts if you’re signed in
to these accounts on your phone.
If you have not yet signed in, press MENU from the Home
screen, and then tap Settings > Accounts > Add account.
Adding a new contact
1. From the Home screen, tap > People.
2. Tap Add contact. Then enter the contact information in
the relevant fields.
3. Tap Save.
Set up your phone
When you turn on your phone for the first time, just follow
the onscreen instructions to set up your phone.
Be sure to sign in to your Google Account so you can
use Google apps like Gmail™ and Android Market™. You
can also set up your other email accounts, favorite social
networks like Facebook® and Twitter™, and more.
Make your Home screen
The Home screen is highly customizable and extends
beyond the screen width, giving you lots of room to add
widgets, apps, shortcuts, and folders for one-touch access.
Aside from the main Home screen, you have up to six
extra Home panels to add all the things you need. Slide
your finger left or right to go to the other Home panels.
Or, simply pinch the screen to show the Leap view, and
then tap a screen thumbnail to directly go to that screen.
Before you turn on your phone
Make sure you prepare your phone correctly before you
press the POWER button.
Removing the thin film from the battery
1. Hold your phone securely with the front facing down.
2. Starting from the small opening at the bottom of the
phone, lift the back cover and remove it completely.
3. Take out the battery and peel off the thin film.
Locating the storage card
The microSD card is already inserted into your phone.
If you need to remove the microSD card:
1. Lift the latch located at the bottom center of the
battery compartment to unlock it. Then gently pull the
microSD card out from the storage card slot.
2. Press down on the latch to lock it in place.
To insert the microSD card:
1. Lift the latch of the storage card slot, and then carefully
insert the microSD card into the slot.
2. Press down on the latch to lock it and secure the card in
place.
Inserting the battery
1. Insert the battery, contacts end first, and gently press
the battery into place.
2. Replace the back cover.
Charging the battery
Use the supplied power adapter and USB cable to charge
your phone.
Connect to the Internet
Get online using your phone’s data connection or Wi-Fi.
Using a data connection
It’s simple. When you turn your phone on for the first time,
it should connect automatically to your service provider's
data service. Settings for connecting to the data service
are already preconfigured on your phone.
Using Wi-Fi
1. From the Home screen, press MENU.
2. Tap Settings > Wireless & networks.
3. Select the Wi-Fi check box to turn Wi-Fi on.
4. Tap Wi-Fi settings. Then choose a Wi-Fi network to
connect to.
If you select an open network, you’ll be automatically
connected. If you select a secured network, enter the
key, and then tap Connect.
Browsing the Web
1. From the Home screen, tap > Internet.
2. On the Browser screen, press MENU. Then tap the
address bar on top of the screen.
3. Enter the web address, and then tap the Enter key .
4. Use finger gestures to browse the webpage and to
zoom in or out.
Make your first call
1. On the Home screen, tap Phone.
2. Enter the number or contact you want to call, and then
tap Call.
3. To hang up, tap End call.
Send a txt msg
1. From the Home screen, tap > Messages > New
message.
2. Enter the recipient in the To field.
3. Tap “Tap to add text”, and then enter your message.
4. When done, tap .
