C65 Cranwell Series 2
Built in 1916 and used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) for training
purposes ever since, RAF College Cranwell is known as the world’s
rst air academy. So when we were looking for a name for a vintage-
inspired aviation watch, it was the obvious choice.
Modelled on the classic Jaeger-LeCoultre/IWC Mark XI 6B/346,
an aviator timepiece aimed at bomber navigators, your second-
generation Cranwell is a tribute to the pilots of the past that also
happens to be a modern precision timing instrument.
The dial, which hosts our twin-ags logo, has been completely
redesigned for clarity and authenticity. Its Arabic numerals are
printed in Super-LumiNova® lume for visibility after dark, while the
Super-LumiNova® Old Radium-coated quarter-hour batons and
inverted triangle add warmth as well as legibility.
As betting a eld watch, power comes courtesy of a COSC-
certied Sellita SW200-1, which is in the top six percent of Swiss-
made movements for accuracy. As with the regular SW200-1, this
chronometer version has a ‘hacking seconds’ function: a throwback
to the time when being able to ‘synchronise watches’ was vital in
operations.
Add in water-resistance to 150m and the heraldic badge of the RAF
deep-stamped into the backplate, and you’re witnessing a watch
that’s at home in the air, on land and at sea.
