Our products are developed to meet the highest quality, performance and design standards. We
hope you enjoy your new PALSON Velvet steam iron.
IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
When using electrical appliances, certain basic safety precautions must be followed, including
the following:
- Read all the instructions before use.
- The iron must never be left unattended while it is connected to the mains.
- Keep the iron out of children’s reach.
- High temperatures are generated during use which may cause burns.
- Always use the handle and warn others (particularly children) about possible hazards (for
example, scalds caused by steam or hot water, particularly during vertical ironing).
- Unplug the iron from the mains socket before:
- filling or emptying the water tank
- leaving the iron unattended (even for short periods)
- cleaning or performing maintenance operations
- immediately after use
- Do not unplug the iron by pulling on the power cord.
- Use only extension cables that are in good condition and are three-wire.
- Do not allow the power cord to hang over edges where children could reach them.
- Do not immerse the iron in water.
- An electrical appliance must not be used if:
- the power cord is damaged.
- the iron has fallen to the floor and there are visible signs of damage.
- the iron drips.
In such cases, please contact your nearest authorised technical service.
- Electrical appliances must only be repaired by specialists. Repairs performed by inexpert
people may be dangerous and give rise to significant hazards for the user.
- A damaged or faulty power cord should only be replaced by the authorised technical service,
as special tools are required.
- The iron must be used strictly in accordance with these instructions. NO liability will be
accepted for any damage caused by not following these instructions or by any incorrect use
or handling.
- This product must not be used by children or by other people without assistance or supervision
if their physical, sensory or mental condition limits safe use of the appliance. Children must be
watched to make sure that they do not play with the appliance.
- If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its authorised
technical service or by a qualified technician in order to avoid hazards.
BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
- Carefully remove the ceramic soleplate’s protective layer.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
STEAM IRONING
Filling with water:
* Move the steam adjustment control down as far as it will go.
* Hold the iron vertical so that the water filling hole is horizontal. Fill with water (without
additives) to the maximum level through the water filling hole.
Selecting the ironing temperature:
* Set the temperature control selector in accordance with the international fabric protection
symbols (temperature selector / washing label) or the type of fabric.
* synthetic (low temperature)
** silk, wool (medium temperature)
*** cotton, linen (high temperature)
If necessary, sort the items to be ironed beforehand.
Setting the temperature for steam ironing:
* Turn the temperature control selector to the coloured steam area (MAX.). This setting can
be used for most fabrics. Delicate synthetic fabrics should be ironed with the temperature
selector set to the beginning of the coloured area (MIN.).
Steam ironing delicate synthetic fabrics:
In practice, most fabrics can be steam ironed due to the barrier created by the steam between
the ceramic soleplate and the fabric. The temperature control selector must be placed at the
beginning of the coloured area (3 points).
When the indicator lamp turns off, turn the ‘steam adjustment control’ to the maximum steam
setting. Hold the iron horizontal to ensure that it is generating steam before starting to iron (first
test on an inside seam).
Connecting the iron to the mains:
* Plug the iron into a socket. The temperature lamp turns on to indicate that the iron is
heating.
When the temperature lamp turns off, it has reached the set temperature and the iron is ready
for use.
* The temperature lamp turns on and off automatically during ironing as the thermostat holds
the set temperature (you can continue ironing while this is going on).
Setting the steam adjustment control:
* Set the steam adjustment control between the maximum and minimum settings.
The iron is ready for steam ironing:
* Steam is produced as soon as the iron is held horizontal.

TURNING OFF THE STEAM:
Steam generation can be stopped by:
- placing the iron on its heel.
-
moving the steam adjustment control towards the less coloured area (MIN.) until it stops.
SETTING THE WATER SPRAY
When there is water in the tank, the items to be ironed can be sprayed with the water.
* Press the spray button slowly to produce a jet and quickly and hard to produce a mist.
STEAM JET:
* Press the steam jet button and then release it during ironing. A strong jet of steam will
penetrate deep into the fabric. Allow at least four seconds to pass between each time you
press the steam jet button.
Vertical ironing:
The iron can also be used for vertical ironing. This is particularly handy for removing creases from
hanging fabrics, curtains, etc.
Warning!
Never iron clothes directly on people’s bodies!
Topping up with water:
* Unplug the iron from the mains supply.
* Move the steam adjustment control downwards as far as it will go. Top up with water.
* Plug the iron into the mains and wait until the temperature lamp turns off. Set the steam
adjustment control to the desired level.
DRY IRONING:
* Move the steam adjustment control as far as it will go to the less coloured area (MIN.).
AFTER IRONING:
* Unplug the iron from the mains supply. Move the steam adjustment control to “max” and
empty any water that there may be in the tank. Then, move the steam variation control to
“min” and leave the iron to cool.
* When it is not being used, always stand the iron in vertical position, on its heel; this will protect
the ceramic soleplate.
Integral power cord storage:
* For easy storage, the power cord can be wrapped around a holder. Do not pull too hard on
the cord as this could damage the cord protector.
* The iron works with a constant steam volume and this means that the steam pressure
remains constant irrespective of the quantity of water in the tank. The desired steam volume
is set by the steam adjustment control.
* The first time that you use your iron, a small quantity of smoke may be given off. This is
perfectly normal and stops after the iron has been operating for a few minutes.

* If water droplets are ejected with the steam, turn the temperature control selector to a slightly
higher setting.
* Items that are slightly damp are much easier to iron than absolutely dry items.
* Before using your iron for the first time, or if it has not been used for a few weeks, hold it horizontal
and leave it to produce steam for 1 minute. Operate the steam jet button several times.
* If you are spraying starch on to the fabrics, we recommend cleaning the ceramic soleplate
with a soft, damp cloth from time to time to help prevent scale from forming.
* When discarding the iron, make sure that it cannot be used again (for example, by cutting the
power cord to remove the plug).
