Accessories and Options
SOUND REDUCTION OPTIONS
The standard chiller has fans that operate at normal
speed,no compressor enclosure,andis typically used
innon-sensitivesoundareassuchasindustrialareasor
locationswithloudtrafcbackgroundnoise.Oneormore
ofthefollowingsoundreductionoptionsmaybeemployed
bythesystemdesignerasnormallygeneratedmachine
noiseisconsideredintheoverallprojectdesign.
ULTRA QUIET FANS–Withthisoption,thebasicchilleris
equippedwithspeciallydesignedfansandmotorstopro-
videlowersoundlevelsandretainappropriateairow.The
resultisreducedfangeneratednoisewithminimaleffect
onthechillercapacityorefciency.(Factory-mounted)
TWO-SPEED FANS–Withthisoption,thebasicchilleris
equippedwithfansdesignedwithtwooperatingspeeds.
Athighambientconditionsthefansoperateatthenormal
speedwithsoundlevelsequivalenttoUltraQuietFans.
Astheambienttemperaturefallsthefansautomatically
reducetoslowspeedreducingsoundlevels.Ifverylow
sound is required at all ambient conditions normal fan
speedcanbeinhibited. (Factory-mounted)
REDUCED SOUND OPTION–Withthisoptionthechiller
isequippedwithanunlinedcompressorenclosure.This
option is typically used for daytime operation where
background noise is lower than normal city trafc etc.

LOW SOUND OPTION–Thisoptionisonlyavailablewith
theselectionofUltraQuietFansorTwo-SpeedFans.The
chillerisequippedwithanacousticallylinedcompressor
enclosure.Thisoptionistypicallyforlocationsnearresi-
dentialareas,hotels,orhospitalsetcwherebackground
noiseislimited.WhenpairedwiththeTwo-SpeedFan
optiontheunitcanoperateatnormalspeedduringthe
day,whenbackgroundnoiselevelsarenoticeable,andat
lowspeedintheeveningandatnightwhenbackground
levelsarelower. (Factory-mounted)
SilentNight™ - Standard variable speed compressors
resultinachillersystemthathaslowerpartloadsound
valuesthanconventionalair-cooledchillers.Over99%
ofchilleroperatinghoursoccurwhenbuildingloadsare
lessthandesignand/orambienttemperaturesareless
than design. As a result, all YCIV model chillers will
operatewith less thanfullload sound outputnearlyall
thetime–thisisespeciallyimportantoneveningsand
weekendswhenneighborsarehomethemost.Dueto
timeofdaybasedsoundregulationsitmaybedesirable
to force the chiller to a lower sound level on demand.
TheSilentNight™controloptionprovidesacontrolinput
tolimitsoundoutputofthechillerbasedontimeofday.
Thisfeatureisprogrammableatthechillerpanelorcan
becontrolledremotelyviasignal(4-20mAor0-10VDC)
fromaBASsystem.
HIGH STATIC FANS - (400V/50Hz)Condenserfanswith
higherpowermotorssuitableforhighexternalstaticpres-
sure,upto100Pa(0.4in.water),acrosscondensercoils.
Selectthisoptionifadditionalair-owresistancemaybe
present due to ow restrictions such as eld installed
ducts,lters,sound-enclosuresetc.(Factory-mounted)
HIGH AIRFLOW FANS-(400V/50Hz)Condenserfans
withairfoiltypebladesandhighpowermotorsproviding
extraairowacrosscoils.Insomechillercongurations,
this option can provide an increase in chiller capacity.

CONDENSER COIL PROTECTION
Standardcondensercoilconstructionmaterialsinclude
aluminumns,coppertubes,andgalvanizedtubesup-
portsforgenerallygoodcorrosionresistance.However,
these materials are not adequate for all environments.
Thesystem designer can takestepsto inhibit coil cor-
rosioninharshapplicationsandenhanceequipmentlife
bychoosingfromtheseoptionsbasedonprojectdesign
parametersandrelatedenvironmentalfactors.(Factory-
mounted)
• PRE-COATED FIN CONDENSER COILS – The
air-cooledcondensercoilsareconstructedofepoxy-
coated aluminum ns. This can provide corrosion
resistance comparable to copper-n coils in typical
seashorelocations. Either theseorthe postcoated
coils (below), are recommended for units being in-
stalledat the seashoreorwheresalt spray mayhit
theunit.
• POST-COATED EPOXY DIPPED CONDENSER
COILS – The unit is built with dipped-cured epoxy
condensercoils.Thisisanotherchoiceforseashore
andothercorrosiveapplications(withtheexception
of strong alkalies, oxidizers and wet bromine, chlo-
rineanduorineinconcentrationsgreaterthan100
ppm).
• COPPERFINCONDENSERCOILS–Theunitcon-
structedwithcoppertubecondensercoils,whichhave
copper ns. (This is not recommended for units in
areaswheretheymaybeexposedtoacidrain.)
PROTECTIVE CHILLER PANELS:
• WirePanels(fullunit)–UVstabilizedblackpolyvi-
nylchloridecoated,heavygauge,weldedwiremesh
guardsmountedontheexterioroftheunit.Protects
condensercoilfacesandpreventsunauthorizedac-
cesstorefrigerantcomponents(compressors,pipes,
cooler,etc.),yetprovidesfreeairow.Thiscancut
installationcostbyeliminatingtheneedforseparate,
expensivefencing.(Factory-mounted)
• Louvered Panels (condenser coils only) – Lou-
veredpanels,paintedthesamecolorastheunit,are
mountedovertheexteriorcondensercoilfacesonthe
