Chapter 1. Introduction
1-1. Introduction
The Young Lin Basic 360 Series is the water purification system that produces pure water from tap or
underground water. The purified water by the Basic 360 Series is adequate to use as a laboratory grade water or
supply for ultra-pure water production system. The components of the Basic 360 Series are as follows.

1-2. Operation Principle
The Basic 360 Series Water Purification System produces decontaminated pure water by using reverse
osmosis to filter particles, inorganics, organics and bacteria from water supply. The water supply is fed through a
prefilter to get rid of the large particles and the pre-filtered water flows to a carbon filter to be removed chlorine.
Then the produced water is pressurized by a booster pump and delivered to the RO Membrane Pack to be
purified. The purified water is used as laboratory grade water or feed water for ultra-high pure water.
In use of the aquaMAX
TM
-Basic 361 or 362 System, it produces 2
nd
grade distilled water removed cation and
anion through an ion exchange pack.

1-4. Configuration
1-4-1. R.O. Membrane Pack and Prefilter(PRE PACK)
The Water supply(tap water or treated municipal water) is fed through a pre-filter to be separated large and small
particles by filtration. The permeate water then enters the RO Pack housing and permeates through the
spiral-wound RO membrane. For the Basic 360 Series, when RO membrane is pressurized at 5.5 Kg/cm
2
,
approximately 70% of the input water is continuously withdrawn from the system through a reject valve and the
remaining 30% of the water permeates through the membrane to be filtered. The productivity of RO membrane
is varied depending on pressure and used time.
1-4-2. Booster Pump
The booster pump of the Basic 360 Series is a silent diaphragm pump. It can transfer water flow rate of
maximum 60 liter/hour, however the purified water can be produced at maximum 10 liter/hour when supplied
with RO pressure of 5.5 Kg/cm
2
. The amount of the purified water can be varied by temperature, used time and
pressure of RO membrane.
1-4-3. Pressure Switch
If the inlet pressure of a water supply is less than 0.8 Kg/m
2
, the pressure switch automatically stops the
booster pump to prevent the pump from damage and if it is more than 7.0 Kg/cm
2
, it stops the operation to
prevent the filter from damage. The inlet pressure of water supply should be more than 1.0 Kg/cm
2
, because the
pressure drops down after passing through the prefilter. In case the switch stops the booster pump at low
pressure (less than 0.8 Kg/m
2)
, you should raise the inlet pressure first to drive the booster pump again.
It is required to install an extra external pump if the pressure of water supply is less than average 0.8 Kg/m
2.
.
1-4-4. Drain Valve and Automatic Flushing
The drain valve consisted of a needle valve and a solenoid valve is designed to control the backpressure of RO
membrane. The reverse osmosis is displayed on the pressure gauge mounted inside of the system. The Basic
360 Series automatically turns on the drain valve every 30 minutes for 1 minute so that the contaminants
collected on the RO membrane surface can be flushed away by a high velocity flush of water.
1-4-5. Water Quality Monitoring
The Basic 360 Series monitors water quality by measuring conductivity at 3 different points. The measured
value indicates ion drain ratio and time of filter replacement.

The Young Lin aquaMAX can reject more than 99% of inorganic and organic contaminants in the feed water.
Thus, after permeation of the reverse osmosis membrane, the purified water contains less than 1% of the
contaminants present in the feed water. The aquaMAX uses 5.0 prefilter to filter large and small particles in
order to prevent clogging or fouling of the RO membrane.

2-3. Installing Filters
Figure 2-2How to connect filters
1. Check there are 6 fittings for one-touch clip on upper part of where filters have been installed.
>Press down the clip connected to the fitting making a sound like "click".
: The fitting has been already pressed down at the first installation.
: If it's not pressed down, filter can't be fit in.
2. Insert the filter to fix into the marked fitting by making "click" sound.
>After inserted, check the installation by pressing down the up-side head of filter.
>There is a indicating mark at the lower part of filter not to install the filter upside down.
CAUTION : Filter installation upside down causes the system malfunction and water quality problem.
3. For the R.O membrane pack, the one-touch fitting is on the lower part.
Press down the clip by making a sound like "click" and connect the fitting to the external exposed tubing by
making "click" sound.
4. Follow same direction as above 1 and 2 to connect R.O. Pre Pack and R.O. Post Pack except R.O
membrane pack.

2-4. The Connection of Feed Water
Figure 2-3 The Connection of Feed Water
Cut the Ø6 seal hose tubing supplied with the system properly and connect to the one-touch type of FEED
fitting on the back-side. Then please connect the other side to the tap water.
2-5. The Connection of the Produced Water
For the aquaMAX 360, 362 type, close the one touch fitting on ION (PRODUCT 2) on the back side with a
supplied plug and insert Ø6 tube into the one touch fitting at R.O.(PRODUCT 1) as following Figure 2-3.
Connect the other side of tubing to the reservoir tank
For the aquaMAX 361, 363 type, connect tubings to both R.O.(PRODUCT 1) and ION (PRODUCT2) as following
Figure 2-3-1. It can produce either R.O water or De-ionized water by selection from a service menu. It’s
available to connect a sensor to check the level of water in a tank when you connect a reservoir tank.

2-7. How to Connect Feed Water Kit
1. Purpose of Installation
On installation of water purification system, there are some difference at water pressure depending of location,
time and area. So, a decompression valve is built in the unit to prevent housing damage, pump error and fitting
separation. When you install water purification system, you must connect a tap water connector.
2. Details
1) Connection of tap water connector
a. Insert a bushing (1-1) of tap water connector(1) into a tap, and
then tighten a screw(+).
b. Turn a nipple (1-2) counterclockwise up to bushing completely.
-There is a rubber-ring to protect from leakage and helps installation.
3. Caution
The use with a booster pump is required when the water pressure of installation area is lower than
0.5kg/ ~ 1kg/ to meat the product flow rate on the specification.

2-8. The Connection of Reservoir Tank Sensor (Optional)
1. Purpose
With use of a reservoir tank, it protects from overflowing of the produced water.
2. Details
1) Install a tank sensor on the cap of 20L or 50L PE tank.
2) Connect one side of connector of Level Switch Outer Cable to the other connector of which connected to a
tank sensor. The direction of Level Switch Outer Cable doesn’t matter.
3) Connect the other side of connector of installed reservoir tank to Level S/W at the rear side of the system.
3. Caution
The system keeps on Standby mode when the level of water is up at installation of Level Switch. You’re
only able to re-operate the system after reduce the produced water in the tank.
