If you have only one failed ISB per Storage Group and you are fully mirrored, you can remove the failed ISB through a
Remove Redistribution process as opposed to the following procedure.

The SATA connector is fragile and requires support when connecting and disconnecting.

Use anti-static protection to avoid damaging electrical components.

If transplanting a Controller board from a donor i1000 or i2000 ISB, the donor ISB must already contain the
appropriate firmware version (matching the other ISBs in use) or be a version 4.0.2 ISB Controller Board (see
the following figure, with the version sticker circled in red). If using an ISB Controller Board from a spare ISB,
upgrade the firmware on the spare ISB before using this replacement procedure. Using an ISB Controller
Board with an incorrect firmware version could result in data loss.

Before replacing an ISB with a shelf spare:
1. Remove the failed ISB from the Engine.
2. Insert the spare ISB into the same slot and allow it to boot.
3. Check ISIS software version of the spare ISB, and if required, update the software.
4. Remove the spare ISB from the Engine.
To remove the ISB Controller Board from failed ISB or replacement ISB:
1. Use the #2 Phillips screwdriver to remove the gray plastic alignment bracket. There are two screws on each side
(four total).

In this procedure, the front of the storage blade is closest to the ISB handle. Access to the ISB boards and drives is
from the bottom of the ISB enclosure.
