3.3 Driving Requirements
1Keep watching out for people, objects and other ships around.
Remain alert for obstacles that block your sight and other conditions.
2Drive safety and steadily, keep safe distance from people, objects
and other obstacles.
3Don’t follow close to other ships. Follow navigation rules and
observe the surrounding condition before taking a turn.
4Keep an eye for swimmers and stay away from swimming areas, or
the boat may hit swimmers.
5When you try to get away from obstacles, please change the
driving direction at a low speed.
6Get away from submerged rock or shallow water area;
please take early precautions to prevent collision.
ZBOAT OPERATORS MANUAL
6
7To reduce the risk of control loss, being thrown overboard and collision, don’t exceed the speed limit.
8This combined boat is a high-performance boat rather than a toy. A sharp turn or surfing will increase the risk of
injury or fracture. Please don’t surf.
9Don’t drive the combined boat in bad water areas. Bad weather or low visibility may lead to accidents, injury or
even death. Do check out the weather forecast before leaving.
10Don’t drive in water area shallower than 60cm (2 ft), or there will be a high chance of hitting rocks and causing
injury.
11The maximum safety speed for this combined boat is 70km/h (38 knots/hour).
12If you got an awning for your combined boat, please pick up it , please pack it up before driving to avoid accident,
or the driver’s view will be blocked.

3.4 Features of combined boat
1The combined boat integrates sailboat and motor boat features. Please practice turning in open and barrier-free
water area until you are quite familiar with the control system.
2Don’t use the reverse direction function to slow down or stop the boat, or the boat may run out of control so that
the driver and the passengers may be thrown overboard or crash info the steering wheel; or the switching component
may be damaged, thus increasing the risk of injury to the driver’s spine, face and legs.
3When the boat docks or nears the dock, the engine must run at a low speed. Make sure there’s no obstacle or
person behind, before switching the control lever to reverse.
4When the engine is running, the water inlet of the jet pump should prevent long hair, slack clothes and PFD straps
from being tangled up with the moving parts. Still, avoid letting things near the intake, since entangling objects in the
moving parts could lead to boat damage or physical injury.
5Stop the engine before cleaning the shreds or weeds near the water inlet. Remove the rope for engine emergency
protective switch to prevent shreds or weeds from being sucked into the nozzle
.

3.5 Tips for Avoiding Danger
In closed area, make sure the engine isn’t running. Carbon monoxide emitted by the engine is a poisonous gas
with no color or smell but capable of making people unconscious or dead. This boat together with motor boat can only
be driven in open water areas.
3.6 Driving at night
The combined boat and motor boat is unequipped with lighting device, you can not drive after sunset or before
sunrise, which may increase the risk of collision, injury or even death.
4. Navigation Rules
The combined boat together with motor boat is legally defined as a power-driven vessel, and navigation rules
must be followed for driving such boat.
Just like there are road rules for car driving on streets or highways, there are navigation rules for driving boats.
Universally applicable, these rules are also mandatory laws and regulations by state bureau of maritime affairs and
local branch organizations. You should be aware of these laws and regulations to be followed in journeying with other
ships on the sea.
Different regulations may prevail due to geographical difference, but they are mostly in conformity with
international navigation rules. Regulations mentioned in the user manual have been condensed to facilitate your use.
As for the complete rules of boat driving on waters, please consult the local relevant organization or administrative
department for navigation channel.

4.1 Driving and Navigation Rules
When two boats moving in opposite directions meet, one boat that has the priority to go first is called
“continuously driven boat” while the other is called “other-way driven boat”.
Continuously Driven Boat
The boat with the priority mentioned should maintain its original speed and direction, unless it’s necessary to
change them to avoid collision. Only by maintaining speed and direction can the other boat better respond in order to
make way.
Other-way Driven Boat
The boat without the priority is obligated to drive other way. Generally, it can’t stand in the way of the boat with
priority but slow down or change direction and move behind. When collision seems unavoidable and neither boat has
the priority, both drivers shall try all means to avoid collision. Moreover, the rules may not be followed in the
desperate effort to avoid collision, in which case both boats are other-way driven.
4.2 Rules for Ship Encounter
If the boat is driven in a specified strip of water, one of the following cases will arise.
Meeting: getting close to another boat moving forward.
Traversing: vertically crossing the course of another moving boat.
Overtaking: overtaking or being overtaken by another boat.
ZBOAT OPERATORS MANUAL
10
Meeting
When you meet another boat moving towards you with the risk of collision, neither boat has the priority but both
drivers shall change the direction at a low speed. If both drivers are aware of the vertical distance between them and
collision is impossible, they shall both keep the original speed and direction.
Traversing
When one boat’s course is vertical to yours, slow down and let it go first, in order to avoid accidents.
Overtaking
If you want your boat to overtake the one in front of yours, sound your alarm and go on its left once you hear the
acknowledging response. Similarly, if another boat hopes to overtake yours and condition permits, you can make way
for it.
ZBOAT OPERATORS MANUAL

4.3 Other Special Cases
When you are driving your boat around other boats, here are three rules you should know:
Narrow Channel and Turn
Try to drive the boat in the middle of the channel if it is narrow. When the driver hopes to take a turn, he may
block other boat’s view. The driver shall sound the whistle for 4-6 seconds and take a turn at a low speed after
receiving a responding whistle.
Fishing Boat First
For any area of water, the fishing boat has the priority.
Sailing Boat First
Sailing boats are usually given priority, except in the following conditions:
1When the sailing boat meets a power-driven boat, the latter has the priority.
2The sailing boat should make way for a sailing boat.
3If the channel is narrow, the sailing boat shouldn’t interfere with the safe course of other power-driven boats.

12
4.4 Identifying Buoys and Other Marks
Buoys on the channel are like transportation signal lights on the road and offer guidance. A red buoy to the
starboard side and a black buoy to the port side means the boat can go from an open water area and stop at a harbor.
If the boat leaves the harbor for an open water area, these two buoys appear in opposite positions red buoy to the
port side and black buoy to the starboard side.
This marking system uses buoys and markers with special shape/color to convey the information of adjustment
and advice. These markers are written in black with orange frame, which can show speed limit zone, restricted zone
and dangerous zone.
Attention: buoys may have different meanings due to regional difference. For driving in unfamiliar sea areas,
please consult the local administrative department of navigation beforehand.

5. Eco-friendly Driving
When you drive a boat, you are sharing this area of water with nature. So, while you enjoy the driving, you
should also respect other people and all the wildlife living on, in, and near the water.
Wherever you go, remember that you are a visitor to where you are. The sound made by your boat may appear
melodic to you but noisy to others. The water sprays caused by you may affect other people. You should keep distance
from huts, water bird habitats and wildlife reserves along the water, as well as from fishermen, swimmers, the beach
and other boats. If you have no choice but to drive your boat in such water area, remember to drive slowly and follow
local laws & regulations.
Necessary protection and maintenance are required for keeping gas emission and noise under specified limit. You
are obligated to repair and maintain the ZBoat according to this manual.
Please drive with respect and responsibility for others, and endeavor to make the water safer and more fun for
you and those around you.
