ATTENTION
Read all safety rules carefully before attempting to operate. Retain for future reference
DANGER
Never operate this unit when flammable materials or vapors are present because
electrical devices produce arcs or sparks that can cause a fire or explosion.
NEVER OPERATE UNATTENDED!
WARNING
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury:
1. Do not leave appliance when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and
before servicing. Connect to a properly grounded outlet only. See Grounding
Instruction.
2. Do not expose to rain—store indoors.
3. Always disconnect the plug from the wall outlet before removing the tank cover
4. Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or
near children.
5. Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should,
has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors or dropped into water, contact
WESTINGHOUSE for assistance.
6. Do Not: pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord or pull
cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord
away from heated surfaces.
7. Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug; not the cord.
8. Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.
9. Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any openings blocked; keep
free of dust, lint, hair and anything that may reduce air flow.
10. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of body away from openings and
moving parts.
11. Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches
or hot ashes.
12. Do not use without dust bag and/or filters in place.
13. Turn o all controls before unplugging.
14. Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
15. Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids such as gasoline or use
in areas where they may be present.
16. Do not use your cleaner as a sprayer of flammable liquids such as oil base paint,
lacquers, etc.
17. Do not vacuum toxic, carcinogenic, combustible or other hazardous materials
such as asbestos, arsenic, barium, beryllium, lead, pesticides or other health endan-
gering materials.
18. Do not pick up soot, cement, plaster or drywall dust without filter and dust bag
in place. These are very fine particles that may aect the performance of the motor
or be exhausted back into the air. Additional dust bags are available.
19. Do not leave the cord lying on the floor once you have finished the cleaning job.
It can become a tripping hazard.
20. Use special care when emptying heavily loaded tanks.
21. To avoid spontaneous combustion, empty tank after each use.
22. The operation of a utility vac can result in foreign objects being blown into eyes,
which can result in eye damage.
Always wear safety goggles when operating vacuum.

23. STAY ALERT. Watch what you are doing and use common sense. Do not use
vacuum cleaner when you are tired, distracted or under the influence of drugs,
alcohol or medication causing diminished control.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS / GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding
provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric
shock. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding
conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet
that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and
ordinances.

IMPROPER CONNECTION OF THE EQUIPMENT GROUNDING CONDUCTOR CAN

UNPACKING AND SET-UP
1. Remove the power head by pushing on the side lugs with thumbs and lifting up
on the tabs on the tank cover.
2. Before replacing power head, please refer to Dry Pick-up or Wet Pick-up Opera-
tion in this manual to ensure you have the proper filters installed for your cleaning
operation.
3. Replace power head on the tank by aligning tabs with lugs. Press down firmly on
the upper housing until power a) head snaps into place.
4. Insert the flexible hose end with locking-ring into the vacuum port and tighten.
Do not over tighten.
5. Attach the extension wands to the accessory end of the hose. Twist slightly to
tighten the connection.
6. Attach one of the cleaning accessories (depending on your cleaning require-
ments) on the extension wands. Twist slightly to tighten the connection.
7. Plug the cord into the wall outlet. Your cleaner is ready for use. I = On, O = O

MOUNTING WALL BRACKET
Mount the wall bracket to a wall stud. Secure with hardware provided.
NOTE: An inadequately mounted wall bracket could become loose and fall,
causing injury or damage to the wet/dry vacuum. The location used to mount the
wall bracket should be strong enough to hold the combined weight of the
vacuum and accessories.
WARNING
ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE PLUG FROM THE WALL OUTLET BEFORE REMOVING THE
TANK COVER.
1. Install foam filter and reusable cloth dry filter to pick up dust and dry material only. If
the foam filter has been used to pick up liquids, the foam filter must be cleaned and
dried before installing for dry pick-up.
2. With the power head in an upside down position, slide foam filter over lid cage
pulling until foam filter completely covers lid cage.
3. Slide the cloth filter down completely over the foam filter.
4. Slide mounting ring down over reusable cloth filter until ring is positioned against the
ribs of lid cage. The reusable cloth dry filter should be in position over the foam filter for
dry pick-up.
5. To remove the filter for cleaning, remove mounting ring and filter from the lid cage.
6. To clean reusable cloth dry filter, shake o excess dirt and dust or (depending on the
condition of filter) rinse with water. Allow the filter to dry completely and re-install. DO
NOT MACHINE WASH OR DRY.
NOTE: Ensure that the mounting ring is completely secure and in position by pushing
down firmly around the ring in several places. Be sure the reusable cloth dry filter
completely covers the foam filter. Also check to ensure that all edges of the reusable
cloth dry filter are secure under the mounting ring.
WARNING
KEEP FILTER CLEAN EFFICIENCY OF THE VACUUM IS LARGELY DEPENDENT ON THE
FILTER. A CLOGGED FILTER CAN CAUSE OVERHEATING AND POSSIBLY DAMAGE
THE CLEANER. CHECK THE FILTER PERIODICALLY AND REPLACE AS REQUIRED.
APAGADO AUTOMÁTICO
La aspiradora está equipada con un sistema de apagado automático que funciona al
aspirar líquidos. Conforme el nivel del líquido aumenta, también lo hace un flotador
interno hasta o llega hasta la marca de la admisión del líquido, desconectando la
succión. Cuando esto suceda, el motor hará un ruido normal más fuerte de lo común.
Para continuar su uso, vacíe residuos líquidos del tanque como se describe en el

ALMACENAMIENTO
Antes de almacenar su aspiradora, deberá, vaciar, y limpiar el tanque. El cable de
energía eléctrica deberá ser enrollado alrededor del aparato para su mayor comodidad.
Los accesorios se pueden almacenar en le soporte de accesorios de la carretilla de
rueditas.
La aspiradora deberá almacenarse en interior.
REPARACIÓN DE AVERÍAS
NOTA: ¡No es necesario lubricar ya que el equipo viene lubricado de por vida!
Los problemas de menor importancia a menudo pueden ser arreglado por el usuario.

WET PICK-UP OPERATION
This cleaner requires only a minimum of conversion when going from dry to wet
pick-up. Remove the dry pick-up filters. The foam filter must be positioned over the lid
cage while vacuuming liquids. Do not use the reusable cloth dry filter for wet pick-up.
When picking up several tanks full of liquid, the foam filter will become saturated and
misting may appear in the exhaust air. At this time, you should dry the foam filter or
change to a dry foam filter to eliminate the misting and possible dripping of liquid
around the lid. After completing a wet pick-up job. Raise the hose to drain any excess
liquid into the tank before shutting o. The interior of the tank should be periodically
cleaned. The foam filter should be cleaned periodically as described in the following
steps:
1. Always disconnect the plug from the wall receptacle before removing the power-
head. Place power head in an upside down position. Remove foam filter by taking o
the mounting ring sliding it up and o the lid cage.
2. Shake excess dust o foam filter with a rapid up and down movement.
3. Hold foam under running water for a minute or two, rinsing from the inside. A
water wash is not always required, depending on the condition of the foam filter.
4. Gently wring out excess water, blot foam with a clean towel, and allow to dry. The
foam filter is now ready to install.
NOTE: WET PICK-UP ACCESSORIES SHOULD BE WASHED PERIODICALLY, ESPECIA-
LLY AFTER PICKING UP WET, STICKY KITCHEN ACCIDENTS. THIS CAN BE ACCOM-
PLISHED WITH A WARM SOLUTION OF SOAP AND WATER.
EMPTYING LIQUID WATERS FROM THE TANK
Your WESTINGHOUSE Wet/Dry may be emptied of liquid waste by removing the
power head. To empty, stop the motor and remove the plug from the wall receptacle.
Remove the power head and deposit the liquid waste contents in a suitable drain. After
the tank is empty, return the cover to its original position. To continue use, plug the

AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF

The cleaner is equipped with an automatic shut-o that operates when picking up
liquids. As the level of the liquid rises, an internal float rises until it seats itself against
a seal at the intake of the motor, shutting o suction. When this happens, the motor
will develop a higher than normal pitch noise. To continue use, empty the liquid waster
from the tank as outlined in the previous paragraph.
NOTE: IF ACCIDENTALLY TIPPED OVER, THE VACUUM COULD CLOSE SUCTION. IF
THIS OCCURS, PLACE VAC IN UPRIGHT POSITION AND TURN SWITCH OFF. THIS
WILL ALLOW THE FLOAT TO RETURN TO ITS NORMAL POSITION, AND YOU WILL
BE ABLE TO CONTINUE OPERATION.
STORAGE
Before storing your vacuum cleaner the tank should be emptied and cleaned. The
power cord can be wound around the housing of the unit for convenience. The
accessories can be storage on the accessories holder on the wall mount bracket
(optional accessory).
The cleaner should be stored indoors.
TROUBLESHOOTING
WARNING
REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY FROM MOVING PARTS AND/OR ELECTRICAL SHOCK, TURN
POWER SWITCH OFF AND DISCONNECT POLARIZED PLUG FROM ELECTRICAL OUTLET
BEFORE PERFORMING TROUBLESHOOTING CHECKS.
NOTE: No lubrication is necessary as the motor is equipped with lifetime lubricated bearing!

con agua. Deje secar el filtro completamente y vuelva a instalarlo NO LAVE O SEQUE
EL FILTRO A MÁQUINA.
NOTA: Asegúrese de que el anillo de montaje esté completamente asegurado en
posición presionando hacia abajo con firmeza alrededor del anillo en varios lugares.
WARNING

DESEMPAQUE Y MONTAJE

PARTS LIST—MAIN UNIT

Este aparato debe ser conectado a tierra. Si no funciona bien o se daña, la conexión
a tierra ofrece una ruta de menor resistencia para la corriente eléctrica y reducir el
riesgo de choque eléctrico. Este aparato está equipado con un cable que tiene un
conductor de equipo de conexión a tierra y enchufe de conexión a tierra. El enchufe
debe ser insertado en la salida apropiada que esté debidamente instalada y conec-
tada a tierra según todos los códigos y reglas locales.
ADVERTENCIA
La conexión inadecuada del conductor de equipo de conexión a tierra puede
resultar en un riesgo de choque eléctrico. Revise con un electricista calificado o
persona de mantenimiento si tiene dudas en cuanto a si la salida está
debidamente conectada a tierra. No modifique el enchufe provisto con el aparato.
Si no entra en la salida de corriente, procure instalar una salida adecuada por un
electricista calificado.
24. Este aparato es para el uso en un circuito de 120 volteos nominal. La conexión
a tierra que se asemeja a la conexión en la figura:(a). La salida conectada a tierra
se asemeja a la conexión en la figura (g). El cliente solo necesita conectar la
conexión a tierra en la salida conectada a tierra que pudiera cumplir con la
conexión a tierra.
25. No se debe utilizar ningún adaptador con este aparato.
