the centre of attention:
the all-new i20
From January 2009 there’ll be a new shape on the street and
it’s called the Hyundai i20. As you would expect from a car
company that buzzes with fresh ideas, novel solutions and top
technology, the i20 is the epitome of the modern supermini.
Sharp and stylish on the outside, spacious and versatile inside,
it combines comfort, safety and reliability in a package that is
affordable and economical.
Key moment
i20’s stylish design can be found even in the folding
ignition key, which has a remote locking and unlocking
facility and convenient folding bayonet.

style, space and versatility
Intelligent design has created a car with an airy interior and
lots of space. Moreover, the space is used to generate
practical and versatile solutions to different carrying
requirements. Like the eye-catching exterior, the inside is
superbly designed and beautifully put together. With high
levels of comfort and numerous convenience features, the
i20 has the capacity to cocoon you on your journey through
the rigours of the modern world.
Guaranteed comfort
Everyone has experience of
unpredictable weather extremes these
days: unbearable heat, ice, snow, and
rain. None of it matters to the occupants
of the i20. Whatever the weather is like
outside, the i20’s air conditioning system
helps you stay cool in summer, whilst its
efficient heater warms up those chilly
mornings in winter. Selected models
benefit from climate control* providing
effortless temperature adjustment
whatever the weather.
*Climate control is standard on Style models
Information centre
The instrument panel’s critical dials - the
speedometer, engine rev counter and
fuel gauge - are simple and clear. They
surround a cluster of warning lights and
on Comfort and Style models, a digital
display panel that can reveal the trip
distance, outside temperature, distance
to empty and fuel consumption rate.

Something for everyone
The i20’s bright, modern interior is a revelation. It contains a wealth of standard
equipment, all beautifully put together and all within easy ergonomic reach. There's
no need to be without your favourite music. At the base of the centre console there
is a storage area with a built-in jack for an MP3 player*. On the transmission front
(below), there is the choice of a super-slick five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed
automatic** gearbox, which is available as an optional extra.

1.2-litre petrol
The new 1.2-litre petrol engine
produces 78 PS and over 118 Nm
of torque. It features a 16-valve
cylinder head and light aluminium
alloy construction for the block
and head.
1.4-litre diesel
Two power output levels are
available with the 1.4 common
rail injection turbo diesel: 75 PS
and 90 PS. Both produce the
same excellent torque output
of 220 Nm. All diesel engines
comply with Euro IV emissions
regulations.
1.4-litre petrol
The 1.4-litre petrol engine produces a remarkable 100 PS
and torque in excess of 137 Nm. It has a 16-valve CVVT
cylinder head and all-alloy construction. All petrol engines
comply with Euro IV emissions regulations.
the choice is yours
There is an i20 for everyone, with three trim levels and a
choice of six exterior body colours, according to preference.
With a choice of petrol or turbo diesel engines and manual
or automatic* transmissions, the difficulty for you is which
combination to choose.

safety standards
Rest assured, the i20 is your faithful ally in all safety matters
thanks to the engineering integrity that went into its
suspension, braking and body structure and to the safety
systems that reduce injuries if an accident does happen.
Not to mention the six airbags and active front head
restraints as standard. In the event of a collision, the front
of the car is designed to absorb as much of the impact
energy as possible.
Active safety
i20 features an Anti-lock Braking System
(ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce
Distribution (EBD) as standard. This
combination of systems helps prevent
the brakes from locking when they are
harshly applied, enhancing steering ability
and retaining vehicle directional control in
emergency situations or poor driving
conditions.
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)* is
available as an optional extra for the i20
range. ESP works in combination with
the ABS system to control the brake
pressure to each wheel, manage the
engine power output during acceleration
and braking on low friction road surfaces,
and help to deliver the maximum road
holding and vehicle stability keeping you
firmly in control.
*
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) is available as a
special order only option. Therefore factory leadtimes
apply when placing your order.
Passive safety
In the event of a collision, the i20’s safety
systems are designed to be instantly
activated helping to protect you and your
passengers in an emergency. Seat belt
pre-tensioners are deployed fractionally
ahead of the standard front, side and
curtain airbags, keeping you firmly in
place. In the event of a collision, active
front head restraints provide further
protection, reducing the possibility of
sustaining a neck injury.
