safety standards
Rest assured, the i20 is your faithful ally in all safety matters
thanks to the engineering integrity that went into its
suspension, braking and body structure and to the safety
systems that reduce injuries if an accident does happen.
Not to mention the six airbags and active front head
restraints as standard. In the event of a collision, the front
of the car is designed to absorb as much of the impact
energy as possible.
Active safety
i20 features an Anti-lock Braking System
(ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce
Distribution (EBD) as standard. This
combination of systems helps prevent
the brakes from locking when they are
harshly applied, enhancing steering ability
and retaining vehicle directional control in
emergency situations or poor driving
conditions.
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)* is
available as an optional extra for the i20
range. ESP works in combination with
the ABS system to control the brake
pressure to each wheel, manage the
engine power output during acceleration
and braking on low friction road surfaces,
and help to deliver the maximum road
holding and vehicle stability keeping you
firmly in control.
*
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) is available as a
special order only option. Therefore factory leadtimes
apply when placing your order.
Passive safety
In the event of a collision, the i20’s safety
systems are designed to be instantly
activated helping to protect you and your
passengers in an emergency. Seat belt
pre-tensioners are deployed fractionally
ahead of the standard front, side and
curtain airbags, keeping you firmly in
place. In the event of a collision, active
front head restraints provide further
protection, reducing the possibility of
sustaining a neck injury.
