GAS CONVERSION KIT

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

FOR CONVERSION TO PROPANE (LP) GAS

WARNING

This conversion kit is to be installed by an Empire Comfort Systems, Inc., distributor (or other

qualied agency¹)*in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and all codes and

requirements of the authority having jurisdiction. Failure to follow instructions could result

in serious injury or property damage. The qualied agency performing this work assumes

responsibility for this conversion.

*The term “qualied individual, rm, corporation or company which either in person or through

a representative is engaged in and is responsible for (a) the installation of gas piping or (b)

the connection, installation repair, or servicing of equipment, who is experienced in such

work, familiar with all precautions required, and has complied with all the requirements of the

authority having jurisdiction.

CHECK SAFETY SHUTDOWN PERFORMANCE

WARNING

Perform the safety shutdown test anytime work is done on a gas system to avoid the possibility

of re or explosion with property damage, personal injury or loss of life.

SAFETY SHUTDOWN SYSTEM

Continuous Ignition Systems (Standing Pilot)

1. Place gas control knob in PILOT position. Main burner should go off and pilot should remain lit.

2. Extinguishpilotame.Pilotgasowshouldstopwithin30seconds.Safetyshut-offofpilotgasprovescomplete

shutdownsincesafetyshut-offvalveblocksowofgastomainburnerandpilot.

3. Relightpilotburnerandoperatesystemthroughonecompletecycletomakesureallcontrolsoperateproperly.

ThedirectventgasreplacewhenconvertedtoPropaneGaswillhaveamanifoldpressureapproximately10.0"w.c.

(2.49kPa)foramaximuminputor4.9"w.c.(1.220kPa)foraminimuminputatthevalveoutletwiththeinletpressuretothe

valvefromaminimumof11.0"w.c.(2.739kPa)forthepurposeofinputadjustmenttoamaximumof13.0"w.c.(3.235kPa).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONVERSION

1. Ifthereplaceinsertisinstalled,turnOFFgasandelectricsupplytoreplacebeforemakinggasconversion.

2. Removeaccesspanelbelowglass;liftandpullawayfromreplace.

3. Releasethetwoglassframespringclampsbeneathoneofthetwoglassframes.

4. Removetheglassframeandscreenframeasanassembly.

5. Removelogsfromburnerassembly.

6. Removethetenscrewsaroundtheburnerperimeter,andremovethefalseoorfromtheburnerassembly.

7. Removethefourscrewsretainingtheburnertotheburnerbase,andremoveburner.

8. RemoveNaturalGasmainburneroricefromoricetting.

9. InstallPropaneGasmainburneroriceintooricetting:

• forDVCP36(PP,SP)30,OriceisMARKED #51

• forDVCP36(PP,SP)70,OriceisMARKED #51

10. Pullupwardonpilothoodtoremoveandgainaccesstopilotinjectororice.

11. RemoveNaturalGaspilotinjectororicefrompilotburnerwith5/32"hex(Allen)wrench.

12. InsertIncludedPropaneGaspilotinjectororiceintopilotburnerusinga5/32"hexwrench.

13. Re-installpilothoodtopilotassembly.Pushdownwardtosnapinplace.

14. ForDVCP36(PP,SP)30only,convertgasvalveasinstructedinS.I.T.PropaneGasValveConversionKit.

15.

ForDVCP36(PP,SP)70only,removeNaturalGasvalvefrommanifoldpipeandreplacewithincludedPropaneGasvalve.

16. Adjustairshuttersettingto3/16”open(1/8”with40ft.verticalvent).

17. Replacetheburnerassemblyontotheburnerbase.

18. Replacethefalseoortotheburner.

19. Forverticallyventedinstallationsonly,replacetheuerestrictorwithincludedPropaneGasuerestrictor.

20. Replacelogset.

21. Replaceglassandscreenframes,andloweraccesspanel.

22.

Theconvertedreplacemustbeconnectedtoasupplyoftheconversiongasandcheckedforleaksatallconnections.
