How to create Apollo configuration files
Work instruction
This work instruction is targeted towards CSE who need to create Apollo configuration files.
Requirements:
- Microsoft Visio (Version 2000, 2002, 2003 or 2007)
- CD-ROM Transform A Suite for Windows 2000/XP
- Knowledge of the hardware and software setup required to build the Visio drawing (processor network
name, wall name, processor, projector, connections…)
This work instruction is organized as follows:
1. How to obtain the Visio configuration files
2. How to configure Microsoft Visio
3. How to create the Visio drawing
4. How to export the configuration files
5. How to configure the processor and any operator workstation
1. How to obtain the Visio configuration files?
First check on your hard drive if the configuration files are already available:
Look in C:\Program Files\Barco Apollo. If “Control Room Configurator” is already available go to step2.
Secondly note that the Visio configuration files should already be installed on the Transform A
processor.

Insert the CD: Transform A Suite for Windows 2000/XP in your CD Drive. It should automatically open
the following Internet Explorer windows: Launch Apollo installation
Note that if Apollo is already installed (but without configuration files) the installation utility will ask to
uninstall it first!
Select Run, next, next, next.

The required files are now located as follows:
2. Configure Microsoft Visio
Depending on the MS Visio version, you need to do the following:
2.1. MS Visio 2000:
Copy the “Control Room Configurator” to:
C:\Program Files\Visio\Solutions\
2.2. MS Visio 2002:
Copy the “Control Room Configurator” to:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Visio10\1033\Solutions\

Modify Macro Security to medium (or low):

Modify the file path settings:
Tools – Options – Advanced tab – File Paths…
The following entries must be used:
Templates: C:\Program Files\Barco Apollo\Control Room Configurator
Stencils: C:\Program Files\Barco Apollo\Control Room Configurator
Add-ons: C:\Program Files\Barco Apollo

2.4. MS Visio 2007:
Select Tools – Trust centre
Macro settings: Disable all macros with notification
Trusted Locations:
Add the folder ….\BarcoApollo\Control Room Configurator
Add the folder where the Control Room Configurator configuration files are stored to be
Loaded / imported. Make sure that also subfolders are added to the trusted locations.

For all version go to Tools – and adjust the settings as follows:
After applying the above configuration you need to restart MS Visio.
General useful tips when using Visio:
- Zooming: press ctrl and use scroll wheel
- Pan left/right: press shift and use scroll wheel
- Pan up/down: press alt and use scroll wheel

Start the drawing
The drawing is done by dragging and dropping components onto the drawing area in the following
order:
A. Start with the hardware
B. Continue with the connections
C. Continue with the software
D. Finish with the device group
We will create an example of a 2x2 Overview-D wall connected to one Transform A Processor running
Apollo.
A. Start with the hardware
Drag Overview-D from Barco devices components list to the drawing area.
The Overview-D components should snap to each other perfectly

Double click on each Overview-D cube to define its address (numbering by row):

NOTE: To create Apollo configuration files it is not
necessary to include Graphical cards, Omniscallers
and input cards into the Transform A and/or Omnibusses.
The detail of each component can be found in the Apollo user manual.
To edit the custom properties of the Argus: Double click the item. You can also right click on the item
and select
In the Custom Properties: Edit EITHER the computer name (preferred) OR the IP-Address but not
both!

IP Address
Note that it is best to have the Transform A configured with FIXED IP addresses (no DHCP!)
To find the computer name do the following on the transform A:
Start – Run – cmd – Type “echo %computername%”
You may need to change the host file to be able to use either the name or the IP address:
Hosts file: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

It is time to SAVE your work. Note that the configuration files will be exported to the SAME directory
where the Visio drawing is saved.

To configure the COM port to the appropriate baud rate click on COM1 and open the customer
properties. You might need to zoom in to be sure you are selecting the COM port and not the entire
Argus (Baud rate must match with projector baud rate).

C. Finish with the software
The typical components will be dragged and dropped into the Transform A as follows:
Select Apollo-Base and change its custom properties to Master

D. Finish with the device group
Double click on the area defined to open its custom properties and name it. This will become the name
of the wall (Not the network name of the processor!)

Finally extend the area of the device group to cover all components and send it to the background.
