Proper use:
The appliance must only be used for the humidification and
cleaning of the air indoors.
The W520 features the following innovations:

In the inside of theAir Washer, special humidifier discs
rotate through a water bath and in doing so clean the
airstreamingby of impuritiesinanatural way–asthe
air is washed clean by the rain in nature.Air humidifi-
cationoccursfollowingtheself-regulatingprincipleofcold
evaporation. Therefore the Air Washer creates optimum air
moisture,withoutadditionalcontrolunitsbeingnecessary.
Humidifier discs
Thestructureofthehumidifierdiscsallowsaprovenoutput
oflargequantitiesofwaterintotheair.Theunitcleansthe
airwithnatureasitsmodel.Inaddition,theunitalsogua-
ranteesfilteringofpollutantsaswellaspollenandanimal
hair from the air.

TheIonicSilverStickutilizestheantimicrobialpropertyof
silverandprovidesoneseasonofoptimumwaterquality
maintenanceinallAIR-O-SWISSandBONECOhumidifiers.
TheISSbeginsworkingassoonasitcomesintocontact
withwater –evenifthe unitisswitchedoff.The ISSis
intendedexclusivelyforuseinhumidifiers.
Safety instructions
• PriortoputtingtheAirWasherintooperation,read
the instructions for use thoroughly and retain them
wellforlaterconsultation.
• OnlyusetheAirWasherinlivingareasandwithin
the technical data specified. Unintended use can be
a danger to health or life.
• Childrencannotrecognizethedangerinhandlingelec-
tricappliances.Thereforealwayssupervisechildren
whoareneartheAirWasher(5).
• Thoseunfamiliarwiththeinstructionsforuseaswell
aschildrenandpeopleundertheinfluenceofmedicine,
alcoholordrugsmaynotoperatetheunit,oronlyope-
rate it under supervision.
• Iftheunitisknockedoversothatwaterleaks,the
powerplugmustbeunpluggedimmediately.Theunit
mustthenbedryforatleast3hoursbeforethepower
plug may be plugged in again.
• Donotaddanyadditivessuchasessentialoilsdirectly
intothewatertankorthewaterbase.Theseadditives
willdamageyourappliance!Appliancesthataredama-
gedbyadditivesareexcludedfromthewarranty.
Intheinstructionsforuse,specialsafetyinstructionsare
indicatedwiththefollowingsymbols:

Unpacking (1 –

• Usetheoriginalpackagingforstorageifyoudonotuse
theAirWasherthewholeyear.
• Allpackagingcomponentsconsistofenvironmentally
friendlymaterialsandcanbedisposedofwiththe
appropriatelocalwastemanagement.

Checkdataregardingthepowersupplyontheratingplate.
PlacetheAirWasheronthefloororonaflat,drysurface
in the room.
• Theratingplateislocatedonthebacksideofthe
appliance(4).
• Remembertoensureeasyaccessibilityandsufficient
room for servicing and cleaning the Air Washer.
Filling with water (8
– 10)
Onlyfillthewatertankwithfresh,coldtapwater.
Donotpressurizethewatertank,e.g.byfilling
itwithcarbonatedmineralwater.Donotaddes-
sentialoilsorfragrancestothewater;theplastic
material could possibly be discolored or dama-
ged.Closethescrewcapcompletelytoprevent
leakagefromthewatertank.
Putting into operation (11
– 15)
ConnecttheAirWashertothemains(signaltone)andpress
buttonA(12).Thedigitaldisplaycomesonandshowsthe
currenthumidity.Whentheapplianceisswitchedon,the
desired value is set to 55% and the output level to «High».
Toswitchoff,pressbuttonA.
A) Switching on/off
PressingbuttonA switchestheapplianceon.Pressingit
againswitchestheapplianceoff.Thisbuttonisalsoused
toresetthecleaningsymbol.Seechapter«M)Cleaningthe
appliance».
B) Setting humidity level
Theapplianceisfittedwithahygrostat.Thismeasuresthe
relativeairhumidityandautomaticallyswitchestheappli-
anceoffwhenthedesiredvalueisreached.Whenswitching
theuniton,thedesiredvalueispresetto55%.
The desired value can be adjusted in steps of 5% by
pressing button B. The word DESIRED appears on the
display (N).The setting for the relative humidity ranges
fromaminimumof30%toamaximumof80% relative
humidity or «Co» continous mode. A relative humidity
of between 40 and 60% is recommended. After a few
seconds,the displayautomaticallychanges toshow the
current value(CURRENT) (N). Upon reachingthe desired
relative humidity, the unit automatically switches off
(displayshowsDESIREDandCURRENT)(N).Ifthedesired
relativehumidityfalls,theapplianceautomaticallyswitches
on again.
C) Changing the output level
The Air Washer can be operated on three output levels.
PressbuttonCtoselectbetweenoutputlevelsLow«L»,
Medium «M» und High «H».The chosen output level is
showninthedisplaybysymbolH.
D) Timer
UsingbuttonD,theoperationtimecanbeset–adjustable
between 1 and 8 hours, or continuous operation (Co).
Symbol Gshowstheoperatingperiodthathasbeenset
(1h/2h/3h/4h/5h/6h/7h/8h/Co).Thedisplaywillautomati-
callyshowthecurrentvalueafterafewseconds.Thetimer
canadditionallybeswitchedoninanymode.

E) Power mode
ButtonEisusedtoswitchtheairheatingonoroff(symbol
Ilightsup).InPowermode,thedryindoorairisheatedin
theappliancetoenableahighhumidificationoutput.Power
modecanbeswitchedonatanyoutputlevelandinany
mode.
F) Auto/Sleep Mode
The automatic and sleep modes can be activated by pres-
singbuttonF.Bypressingthebuttononce,theautomatic
functionisswitchedon(symbol Jappearsonthedisplay),
maintaining the optimum humidity of 55%. Control takes
placebymeansofoutputquantityandpre-settargetvalue.
Bypressingthebuttontwice,thesleepfunctionisswitched
on(symbol Kappearsonthedisplay),thetargethumidityis
55%;theoperationtimeissetat6hours;andthedisplay
brightness is automatically dimmed. The output level is re-
ducedtothelowestlevel,Low«L».
The hygrostat and output level setting cannot be changed.
IfthebuttonsBorCarepressed,theunitwillnolongerbe
in auto or sleep mode.

«Tank empty»
Thewaterquantityiseasytoseethroughthetransparent
water tank window. The display on the appliance also
showswhentheunitshouldberefilledwithwater.Ifthe
waterlevelfallsbelowtheminimumquantity,theappliance
automaticallyswitchesoff.Aredsymbol(L)appearsonthe
display.Whenwaterisadded,symbolL goes out and the
appliance continues operating.
M) Cleaning the appliance
TheletterMinthedisplayindicatesthattheappliancemust
be cleaned. This symbol comes on automatically every 2
weeks,dependingonthelevelofuse.Thedisplaycanbe
cancelled by depressing button A for 5 seconds.
N) Current/Desired Display
IfDESIREDappearsonthedisplay,thevaluein%nexttoit
signifiesthedesiredrelativehumidity,i.e.thedesiredvalue
isshown.IfthedisplayshowsCURRENT,thenthecurrent
relativehumidityisshown.
Cleaning the air washer (16 – 20)
Beforethebasecanberemovedfromtheap-
pliance,thewatertankmustberemoved.Todo
this, remove the cover above the water tank,
removethewatertankfromtheapplianceand
thenpulloutthebase(20).
• Regularcleaningisarequirementforhygienic,
trouble-free operation.
• Recommendedcleaningintervalsdependonair
andwaterqualityaswellasoperatingtime.
• Theairwashercaneasilybetakenapartfor
cleaningwithouttools.
Theairwashermustbeemptiedcompletelyandcleaned
iftheunitfilledwithwaterhasnotbeeninoperationfor
longerthanaweek.
RemovetheISSfromthebottombasebeforecleaning(20).
OnlyuseCalcOfffordecalcificationandcleaningofthepro-
duct.Damagethatiscausedbytheuseofothercleaning
agentsisnotcoveredbythewarranty.
Cleaning the water tank and bottom base –
every 2 weeks
(21– 24)
• Removedepositsfromthebottombasewithaplastic
orwoodenbrushandadilutedcommercialdishdeter-
gent.
• Puttheairwasherbacktogetheraftercleaninginthe
opposite order.
Cleaning the evaporator discs (CalcOff) –
every 4 weeks (25
– 31)
Pourthedecalcificationagentintothebottombasefilled
with water and allow it to soak; turn the disc package
severaltimesbyhand.Emptythebottombaseandrinseit
togetherwiththediscpackage.
Note:Athinlayerofcalcificationonthediscsincreasesthe
output of the evaporator!
Donotcleanthesoileddiscpackageinthedish-
washer!
Putthediscpackageandtheairwasherbacktogetherafter
cleaning in the opposite order.
Cleaning the air inlet filter – every 4 weeks

Removetheairinletfilterfromthesideoftheappliance
andcleanitwithavacuumcleaner.Donotcleanthefilterin
water!Thenreinsertthefilterintotheappliance.

Cleaning the housing –
once or twice annually (33)
• Firstcleanthehousingwithadampcleaningragand
wipeitdry;ifnecessary,useplasticcleaningagent.
• Wipeouttheinsideofthehousingtopassemblywith
adampcleaningrag.
Storage
Empty water tank. Clean Air Washer as described and
allow it to dry completely. Remove screw cap from the
water tank completely and store separately to preserve
the seal. Store Air Washer preferably in the original
packaginginadrylocationthatisnottoohot.
Disposal
PasstheoutdatedAirWasherontoyourspecializedretailer
for professional disposal. You canfind out about further
disposalpossibilitiesfromyourmunicipality.
Spare parts and accessories
Youcanpurchasesparepartsfromspecialized
retailers and replace them on theAir Washer
yourself.Onlyoriginalpartsfromthemanufac-
turercanbeused.
Repairs (35

All further repairs may only be carried out from pro-
fessionals or the service department. This also applies
toafaultypowercord.Throughimproperrepairs,consi-
derabledanger for theoperator can resultandwarranty
claimslapse.
