1 Product Introduction
Overview
The CyberBlock SAS is used to provide write-protection for SAS
devices. It blocks all inbound write commands at hardware level.
This protects data in storage devices from being modified during
acquisition and analysis, maintaining the judicial availability and
data integrity for forensic investigations. CyberBlock SAS does not
need any driver installation, easy to use.

2 Components
Front Panel
The following figure shows the front panel of CyberBlock SAS
. SAS interface.
. Activity indicator, indicates whether the connected device is in
read-write state.
. Host indicator, indicates the connection state of the analysis
computer.
NOTE: The first time an analysis computer connects the
CyberBlock SAS device, it is necessary to connect the SAS
HDD first before the green host indicator turns on.
. Power indicator, indicates the power supply state of the device.
. Power switch, switches on/off CyberBlock SAS.

Rear Panel
The following figure shows the rear panel of CyberBlock SAS.
. Power interface, provides power supply for CyberBlock SAS.
. USB 3.0 interface, provides USB 3.0/2.0 connection to
analysis computer.

3 Usage
Connecting a SAS HDD
Perform the following operations to connect a SAS HDD:
1 Connect the SAS HDD to CyberBlock SAS using the SAS
data cable.
2 Connect CyberBlock SAS to the analysis computer using
USB 3.0 data cable.
3 Plug in the power cable of CyberBlock SAS and turn on the
power switch.
The Power, Host, and Activity indicators will flash, indicating
the SAS HDD is connected to the analysis computer in
read-only mode.

Removing a Connected HDD
To remove a connected HDD, turn off the power switch of
CyberBlock SAS, and then remove the connected HDD.
Replacing a Connected HDD
To change a connected HDD to another one, perform the following
operations:
1 Remove the HDD from the computer OS. For example,
click to remove the HDD on Windows.
2 Switch off CyberBlock SAS and remove the original HDD.
3 Connect the new HDD to CyberBlock SAS and switch on
CyberBlock SAS again.

4 FAQ
Q1: Why cannot CyberBlock SAS detect the connected SAS
HDD with some models of Macbook?
A1: It is necessary to connect the SAS HDD to CyberBlock SAS,
turn on the power switch of CyberBlock SAS and then
hot-plug the USB 3.0 data cable.
Q2: The operating systems of some analysis computers, such
as Windows 2003 and Windows XP, are not installed with
USB 3.0 drivers. Therefore, the SAS HDD cannot be
identified after it is connected to the computer through
CyberBlock SAS. How to deal with this problem?
A2: If the problem occurs, you can:
If the OS of the computer is Windows 2003 or Windows XP
or earlier, you need to connect the device to the USB 2.0
interface or update the OS to a higher version.
If the OS of the computer is Windows 7, install the USB 3.0
driver and restart the computer.
Q3: The operating system of the analysis computer is Windows
2003. The first time CyberBlock SAS reads a SAS HDD, the
partition of the disk cannot be opened. How to deal with this
problem?
A3: Go to Computer Management > Storage > Disk
Management, right-click the disk letter of the SAS HDD

and select Change Drive Letter and Paths. Restart
CyberBlock SAS and the partitions of the disk can be
viewed.
