INTRODUCTION
1. Safety precautions
In the hospital the handset should be shut down, because it
may affect the functions of certain medical equipment such as
pacemakers.
When near gas stations and chemical plants or
implementing explosive operations, the handset must be shut
down because it will affect the technical safe operations.
SIM card can be unloaded, please keep children from
swallowing such small components.
Can not exceed the specified voltage of system power
supply, and make sure to use appointed external equipment.
Please use chargers and batteries provided by our company. The
use of other accessories will damage your handset and may be
dangerous.
1 Using batteries from other than QUBA authorized agent
may cause an explosion.
2 Do not throw the batteries into fire.
3 Discarded batteries should be proper handled according to
the environmental protection requirements.
5
4 Private opening the charger and battery will cause danger,
and the warranty will expire.
5 Handset accessories should be repaired by QUBA
authorized maintenance centre.
In no case, user is supposed to open the phone or battery,
and changes to Q-121 are prohibited.
If the mobile anti-demolition label is damaged, the
warranty service will become invalid.
The phone may interfere with TV, radio, or personal
computers and other electrical equipment.
Any passengers in the aircraft at all times must turn off their
mobiles, so as not to interfere with the electronic system,
resulting in aircraft accidents.
While driving, please be sure to use headphones to avoid
one-handed driving that can cause an accident.
Warning: inappropriate use will lead to invalid warranty!
2Getting Started
First of all, thank you for using QUBA Q121 GSM
dual-band / GPRS (WAP) digital mobile telephone.
Q121 provides you many utility functions to make your work
and relaxed activities more convenient. Besides, the personalized
design of interface can also meet your varied needs.
2.1 battery
The batteries have only about half electric quantity; you can use
them upon out of box. For the first time, please completely use
up the power, and fully charge the handset before use it again;
For the second time, completely use up the power, and fully
charge the handset before use next time, after three consecutive
times, the battery is easy to achieve the best state (the best
charging time for the first three times is 12 hours or more).
2.1.1 Battery unloading and installation
6
Follow these steps to lift the battery:  push down and lift
the battery rear cover;  lift up and take out the battery
from the bottom.
For installation, follow these steps:  let the metal end of
the battery touch the metal counterpart of the phone and
put in the battery;  put the rear cover back into the
bottom of the phone upward.
Note“Battery unloading and installation guide” is enclosed
in phone package.
2.1.2 Battery charge
NoteWhen the phone is charging or using USB, earphone or
data wire should be inserted into USB port vertically. Inclining
insert will result in crash.
Plug in the charger.
Insert the charger joint into the bottom of the phone.
At this time, the electricity icon in the top right corner of
the screen will flashing repeatedly; if the handset has been
turned off, there will be a charging reminder on the screen
that means in charging. If the phone is still overused when
the electricity is low, it may take a while before you see
the charging sign on the screen.
When the charging sign in the upper right corner of the
screen shows full power and stops flashing, then the
charge has been completed. If the handset is turned off
during charging, the screen also shows note of completion
of charge. This process usually takes 2-3 hours. It is
normal if the battery, mobile and charger become hot
during charging.
After the completion of charging, disconnect AC power
outlet and disconnect the cable between the phone and the
charger.
NOTEDO NOT USE PHONE WHEN CHARGING.
Warning: During charging the headset must be placed indoor
with air ventilation, and must use the charger provided by the
QUBA . Use of unauthorized chargers ( other than QUBA
7
–Q121) could be dangerous, and will lead to violations of the
phone's recognition and warranty.
2.1.3 Use battery
When your phone automatically shuts down or displays
electricity shortage warning "battery will be exhausted", you
should timely charge the battery. If the battery has not run out
before charging, the handset will automatically adjust to reduce
the charge time.
The standby duration and call duration provided by the QUBA
are based on ideal working environment. In actual use, the
working hours of battery vary with the network status, working
environment and the use of different methods.
2.2 Network connection
2.2.1 SIM card
Your network provider will provide a plug-in SIM card for you,
which makes you have access to the digital GSM network. You
need to insert the effective SIM card in the phone before use it.
And information about the establishment of network and your
call records will be recorded on the metal plane of the SIM card,
also recorded in the card are the names you stored and received
in the address book, numbers and short messages. You can
remove your SIM card, or add to another GSM phone (new
mobile will identify the SIM card automatically).
In order to prevent loss and damage to the information in the
card, you should avoid touching the metal plane, and keep the
SIM card away from the electric and magnetic place. Once the
SIM card is damaged, you will not be able to enter the GSM
network.
Warning: Shut down the phone before you remove the SIM card.
It is absolutely prohibited to insert or remove the SIM card
connected to external power supply, or the SIM card may be
damaged.
2.2.2 Power on/off
To turn on /off the phone, hold down the hang up button.
If you open the phone with SIM card, there are two states:
"Please insert SIM card" - no SIM card, but you can call
112;
"Searching emergency call scope" - no inserted SIM card,
8
and is searching the network, unable to call at this time.
After the SIM card is inserted, the handset will automatically test
if the SIM card is available.
If you insert two SIM cards, and open the "dual-mode" mode,
the standby screen will appear the names of the two network
operators, the upper is No.1 SIM card network operators, the
lower is No.2; you can enter the "system setting mode
setting" to change the SIM card into various modes.
2.2.3 SIM card lock
In order to prevent illegal use, SIM card uses PIN1 (personal
identification number) code for encryption protection. If this
feature is selected, you must enter a PIN1code every time you
boot the handset, so that you can unlock the SIM card, then send
or receive calls. Users can remove the SIM card protection, and
in this circumstance, SIM card can not prevent illegal use. To
remove it, first enter the security settings in main menu (the
phone password is needed, default password is 1234), choose to
close “SIM card 1 or SIM card 2 lock ", enter "PIN1 code" to
confirm.
In case of three consecutive input errors, your SIM card will be
locked by the network, mobile will ask for PUK1 code.
Note: Your network providers of SIM card will set a standard
PIN1 (4 to 8 digits), you should change it to your private
password as soon as possible. PIN1 and PUK1 code are offered
by the GSM network provider with GSM card.
2.2.4 Handset lock
In order to prevent illegal use of your mobile, you can set up a
password. If this feature is chosen, you have to enter a PIN1code
(if you already have a PIN code protection) every time you boot
the handset, then you must enter a phone password, so that you
can unlock the phone and send or receive calls. Users can
remove the phone password, but you can not prevent illegal use
of the phone.
To remove it, first enter the security settings in main menu
settings, and choose to close “lock phone “(input the phone
password 1122) to confirm.
For example, if the phone password is set to 1234, input the
following: 1234
Note: If you opened the lock in "settings security settings
9
phone lock", when the phone is started up, you must enter a
password before you continue to use the phone, or can only dial
112. If you have forgotten your phone password, you must
contact your local retailers or authorized service centers to
unlock your phone password.
2.2.5 Network connection
If the SIM card is declassified successfully, the phone will
automatically search for your registration network or other
available local networks (on the screen "searching network").
Once connected, the network providers' name will appear on the
screen center. At this point, your phone goes to standby status.
