Please observe the following notes to assure continued trouble-free, economical and safe product

operation:

Technical Data

DURAtec Prophy contra-angle 2731

for prophylaxis

Drive speed: max. 10,000 rpm

Reduction: 5.4:1

Usable with rubber tips and polishing brushes

Recommended working speed: 400 - 600 rpm

Important Remarks

The DURAtec contra-angle is:

- only to be used by a qualified dental practitioner, in connection with the provision of

dental treatment to dental patients, any other use may prove dangerous and is

strictly forbidden,

- a medical product according to the applicable national provisions of law.

In conformity with these regulations, the DURAtec contra-angle may only be used by

a competent person for the described application, and under consideration of

- the valid regulations on work safety,

- the valid accident prevention measures,

- these operating instructions.

In conformity with these regulations it is the duty of the user,

- to use only faultless tools,

- to ensure that it is used for the correct purpose,

- to protect patients and third parties from all dangers,

- to avoid any contamination by the product.

Putting Into Operation

The contra-angle should be sterilised before

being operated for the first time.

Connection to the drive motor

Insertion

Push the DURAtec contra-angle onto the motor

coupling until latched in.

Pull on the contra-angle before treatment

to verify that it is firmly seated on the motor

coupling.

Removal

Pull the DURAtec contra-angle off the motor while

turning it slightly.

Do not mount or remove the contra-angle

while the coupling is rotating as this may

damage the driver.

Intended use of DURAtec Prophy

contra-angle

To support periodontopathy treatment. For

rotary polishing with rubber tips and polishing

brushes available from your KaVo agent.

Suitable for tips and brushes that are plugged

in or screwed on. Head housing is protected

against penetration of polishing paste by

special seals.

Insertion of rubber tips and polishing

brushes

Screw the desired tip into the head or plug in.

Check for secure retention/stop.

Note the manufacturer’s information

regarding the dental polisher and

dental polishing brushes.

Removal

Wait until the tip has come to a standstill, then

unscrew or pull off.

Care Instructions

External cleaning

The DURAtec contra-angle can be cleaned

on the outside by brushing under running

water or using an alcohol solution.

Do not place the DURAtec contra-

angle in an ultrasonic cleaner since

this may result in malfunction.

Disinfection

The DURAtec contra-angle can be disinfected on the outside with chemical disinfectants

(disinfection by spraying, wiping).

Do not place the DURAtec contra-angle in disinfectant baths since this may

result in malfunction.

Thermodisinfection

The DURAtec contra-angle can be washed in the thermodisinfector.

The DURAtec contra-angle must be sprayed through or oiled with KaVo

maintenance agent immediately after each cycle.

Maintenance with KAVOspray

Remove the bur.

Cover the DURAtec contra-angle with the

Cleanpac bag and plug onto the nozzle.

Press the spray button for 1 second.

Maintain the DURAtec contra-angle twice

daily, at midday and in the evening after

surgery, as well as before every sterilization.

Maintenance with the KaVo SPRAYrotor

Remove the bur.

Place the DURAtec contra-angle on the

appropriate SPRAYrotor coupling and cover

with the Cleanpac bag.

Maintain the DURAtec contra-angle twice

daily, at midday and in the evening after

surgery, as well as before every sterilization.

operating, maintenance and assembly

instructions of the SPRAYrotor.

Maintenance with QUATTROcare

Cleaning and maintenance unit with expansion

pressure for efficient cleaning and maintenance.

Maintain the DURAtec contra-angle twice

daily, at midday and in the evening after

surgery, as well as before every sterilization.

Refer to the QUATTROcare operating

instructions for further information on

application.

Maintenance with LIFEtime

Cleaning, maintenance and disinfection unit for

automatic and efficient external and internal cleaning.

Maintain the DURAtec contra-angle twice daily, at

midday and in the evening after surgery, as well as

before every sterilization.

Refer to the LIFEtime operating instructions for

further information on application.

Improper maintenance and care can lead

to premature wear and malfunction.

We recommend using original KaVo care

products.

Sterilization

The DURAtec contra-angle can be sterilized in the autoclave at 135 °C (275 °F).

Note the manufacturer’s information regarding the dental polisher and

dental polishing brushes.

Before each sterilization cycle the DURAtec contra-angle must be

maintained with KaVo maintenance agent.

Remove the DURAtec contra-angle from the sterilizer immediately after

each sterilization cycle to prevent any risk of contact corrosion.

Further advice for use and safety

When the DURAtec contra-angle 2731 will not be used for an extended

period of time, it should be cleaned and lubricated according to the

instructions and stored in a dry place.

Work must stop immediately if there are damages, unnatural running

noises or too strong vibrations.

To avoid further damage, please contact the KaVo Customer Service Center at

Warthausen, or a KaVo authorised office or your Dental Depot.
