1 PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The ReliaCELL 10-20-43 is a fully-certified cellular modem built for rugged applications. Its weather
resistant enclosure can be mounted to existing installations to add cellular and GPS connectivity to any
system that supports a USB host connection.
The ReliaCELL 10-20-43 offers a distinctive approach to providing cellular connectivity within the M2M,
IoT, and internet appliance marketplace. With its rugged and small design, it simplifies product
development, time-to-market, and costs associated with implementing a cellular solution. It becomes
an easy addition to existing or new applications sealing onto the surface of weather- or non-weather
resistant enclosures with a USB connection and providing SMA connectors (for antennas).
The ReliaCELL 10-20-43 modularizes the cellular component of embedded product development
uniquely to allow it to be added to systems without compromising on ruggedization. ReliaCELL 10-20-
43 is already certified with cellular carriers.
North America cellular support through AT&T and Verizon is available for:
3G HSDPA/UMTS/EVDO Rev A
4G LTE
Features:
Ruggedized - IP67 Mountable The enclosure design makes the ReliaCELL 10-20-43 ideally
suited for harsh environments. It provides the cellular connectivity for indoor and outdoor
application or appliance needs.
Easy Cellular Technology Migration The ReliaCELL 10-20-43’s unique concept allows for easy
integration with your appliance or IoT device, swapping ReliaCELL models as cellular
technology updates are needed, and avoiding time-consuming redesigns and massive hardware
replacement costs.
No Cellular Certification Costs The ReliaCELL has all cellular certifications allowing for rapid
deployment of new product developments when used as the cellular module for M2M or IoT
devices.
Easy Installation The ReliaCELL 10-20-43 is installed to a flat surface through a USB 2.0 or 3.0
connector. Once plugged in and screwed on, it is sealed and water resistant, ready for
deployment with standard software drivers that enable the cellular connection.

4 INSTALLATION
4.1 Installing the SIM Card
NOTICE
Preventing Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
When handing the devices described in this document, always use
appropriate antistatic precautions to avoid damages due to electrostatic
discharge.
For example: use a wrist strap or ESD cuff kept in constant contact with
bare skin and attached to an ESD ground.
To install the SIM card:
1. Slide a wide blade slotted screwdriver, or similar object, in-between the rubber back and
plastic top cover on either end of the enclosure. Push it as far into the gap as possible.
2. Twist the tool to separate the back and top of the enclosure.
3. Gently pull upward using a side to side motion until the lid is free.
CAUTION
4. Place the rubber back aside.
Installation

18
/ 44
5. Hold the device plastic casing on the left side (reverse for left handed-ness) with the USB
connector on the right-side. This places any text on the internal in an upside-down position.
SIM card connectors are labelled SIM A and SIM B. SIM A is the default. If only installing one
card, install in slot A.
For the purpose of these instructions, when holding the device as instructed above down is
defined as the direction towards you and up is the direction away from you.
6. Insert a finger nail into the slot in the middle of the SIM card cover and push the cover down
towards you until it clicks and unlatches.
Gently pull the top edge of the cover down until it hinges open.

7. Place the SIM card in the connector slot, chip side down, aligning the notch at the bottom of
the SIM card so it rests on the connector key. The angled notch at the top left also aligns.
8. Make certain the card is correctly aligned before replacing the SIM card cover.
9. Lay the cover over the card.
10. Using the slot in the cover, push the cover up until it clicks and latches.

11. Replace the rubber back, aligning the USB slot and the four pegs.
CAUTION
12. Push the rubber back onto the plastic top cover until it snaps in place.
13. Check all corners to verify the unit is securely attached.
4.2 Antenna Connections
ReliaCELL 10-20-43 includes two Cellular antenna connections (Primary and Diversity to improve the
quality and reliability of a wireless link).
NOTICE
Eurotech recommends J2J JW0124 antenna for Cellular. Alternatively, for outdoor
applications a “Dome” type antenna array can be used.
If using a second (diversity) antenna:
Place the antennas 1 5/8 wavelengths apart or more (longest distance is at 700MHz), if
possible.
If using closely mounted antennas (e.g., exterior whips mounted to the chassis exterior cover)
mount the two antennas at 90 degrees to each other so that they are in different E-fields.
Alternatively, mount the antenna at opposite side of the product where the product itself
separates reflection fields.
The LE910 Hardware Users Guide (see page 56) has more detailed information on selecting an antenna.
To attach antennas:
1. Make sure SIM Card has been installed. See 4.1.
2. Connect the antenna connector to the desired connector on the ReliaCELL 10-20-43.
3. Screw on the SMA connectors until tight. Do not overtighten.
The threads on the ReliaCELL connector may not be completely covered.
