SÄKERHETSFÖRESKRIFTER / SVENSKA

Det är viktigt att du läser dessa sidor innan du använder din nya produkt från Roland. Även om

produkten tillverkats enligt högsta möjliga standard och genomgått omfattande tester under till-

verkningsprocessen bör du studera denna lilla guide som sammanställts för att du skall kunna und-

vika problem med din produkt.

Strömförsörjning

Det är viktigt att använda rätt strömförsörjning

till din nya produkt. Använder du fel ström-

försörjning kan du dels riskera att produkten

inte fungerar och kan gå sönder, dels kan det

utgöra en brandfara. Se därför till att en-

dast använda den nätadapter/nätkabel som

medföljer produkten eller den strömförsörjn-

ing som rekommenderas i den medföljande

engelska manualen.

Kom ihåg att om du använder en annan typ av

strömförsörjning än den som medföljer/rekom-

menderas av Roland, så kommer en eventuell

skada inte att omfattas av garanti eller svensk

konsumentköplag.

Se också till att de kablar du använder är i gott

skick. En nätkabel som inte är hel kan utgöra en

stor brandfara och skada både dig, produkten

och den lokal ni beﬁnner er i.

Använder du en felaktig strömförsörjning kan

detta gå ut över ljudkvaliteten och förstöra din

produkt. Var också uppmärksam på att om du

ansluter din strömförsörjning till samma grupp/

säkring som t.ex. kylskåp, frys eller uttag med

dimmer kan detta medföra störningar.

När du ansluter produkten till nätuttaget är det

viktigt att den är avstängd.

Innan du ansluter produkten till ett nätuttag

bör du kontrollera att det överensstämmer med

de speciﬁkationer som står på instrumentet (i

Sverige: 230 volt/50 Hz växelspänning).

Inte alla Rolands produkter har en extern näta-

dapter. Många har inbyggt, godkänt nätaggre-

gat och levereras med en S-märkt nätkabel.

Placering

Alla elektriska apparater kan påverkas av sin

placering och det gäller naturligtvis också

för din nya produkt. Du har säkert hört det

ljud som kan komma ur en TV, musikanläggn-

ing osv. om en ringande mobiltelefon ligger

för nära apparaten. Denna störning kommer

från elektromagnetism som många apparater

skickar ut. Det enklaste sättet att undvika dessa

störningar är att placera sin produkt utom

räckhåll för potentiella störkällor. Det kan vara

TV- och datorskärmar, kraftfulla förstärkare,

hushållsapparater etc.

Se också till att din produkt inte är placerad där

det är väldigt varmt, i direkt solljus, på ställen

med mycket fukt, damm och i andra extrema

miljöer. Din produkt är inte tillverkad för ex-

trema påfrestningar och bör därför inte använ-

das under sådana omständigheter.

Kommer du att transportera din produkt i ex-

trema miljöer är det klokt att satsa på någon

form av transportskydd. Din musikhandlare kan

informera dig om lämplig typ av väska, fodral

eller ﬂightcase för just din produkt.

Håll din produkt ren. Smuts och damm kan

vara en medverkande orsak till att din produkt

går sönder. Alla Rolands produkter innehåller

elektronik och som du säkert redan vet är

elektronik känslig för just smuts, fett och

damm. Var därför rädd om din produkt. Torka

bort damm på utsidan med en torr, mjuk trasa.

Finns det fettﬂäckar ska dessa tas bort med en

lätt fuktad trasa, eventuellt med lite diskmedel

om ﬂäckarna sitter hårt. Du får under inga

omständigheter använda rengöringsprodukter

som innehåller lösningsmedel.

Håll alla typer av vätskor (öl, läsk osv.) långt bor-

ta från din produkt. Det gäller också alla typer av

objekt t.ex. vassa föremål som kan tänkas skada

din produkt.

Dagligt bruk

När du använder din produkt i det dagliga så

tryck inte överdrivet hårt på knappar o. dyl. Alla

reglage på din produkt skall fungera utan att

använda våld. Känner du att du måste använda

mer kraft än nödvändigt bör du kontakta din

auktoriserade Roland-återförsäljare. Har du en

produkt som är batteridriven byt först batterier

och kontrollera om problemet försvinner.

När du ansluter/kopplar ur kablar på din produkt

så håll i själva kontakten aldrig i kabeln.

Det är helt normalt att elektronikprodukter kan

bli varma när de står på.

När du transporterar din produkt bör du som

sagt använda ett anpassat fodral eller ett case,

alternativt orginalemballaget.

Utsätt inte produkten för kraftiga belastnin-

gar. Hantera den varsamt, placera inte tunga

föremål på dess ovansida och undvik alla andra

typer av våldsamheter.

Reparation

Skulle olyckan vara framme bör du kontakta

din återförsäljare. Din produkt är skyddad

mot fel i material och arbete genom garantier

och svensk konsumentköplag. Reparation och

service skall ske på en Roland-auktoriserad

verkstad och din återförsäljare kan hjälpa dig

att sända din produkt dit. Kontakta Rolands

se om du har frågor.

Du får under inga omständigheter själv försöka

öppna och reparera din produkt om den går

sönder. Dina eventuella rättigheter genom

garantier och konsumentköplag anses då

förverkade.

Data

Många av Rolands produkter har inbyggda

minnen för att lagra data (ljud, sånger, an-

vändarprogram osv.). Har din Roland-produkt

någon form av minnesfunktion kom ihåg att ta

backup med jämna mellanrum och under alla

omständigheter om produkten skall skickas in

för service. När du gör en backup sker detta

oftast till det inbyggda mediet (minneskort,

diskett, USB-minne osv.) eller via MIDI till en

dator. Detta förklaras närmare i din användar-

manual. Du kan också kontakta vår support på

roland.support@roland.se. Roland ansvarar

inte för förlorade data i samband med service.

Var uppmärksam på att olika typer av lagrings-

media måste hanteras med omsorg. Generellt

kommer disketter och ZIP-diskar att tappa sina

data om de förvaras i närheten av magnetiska

föremål, t.ex. dator- och TV-skärmar, högtalare

och liknande. Läs mer om användningen av en-

skilda lagringsmedia i din engelska manual.

INLEDNING

Roland BK-5 Backing Keyboard är en musikalisk ”arrangör” med nästan 300 olika

musikaliska stilar, placerade i kategorier, som gör det lätt att hitta det mest passande

arrangemanget. Varje arrangemang har 4 variationer, 4 inledningar, 6 ﬁlls och 4 avslut-

ningar, så enbart inom en viss stilart ﬁnns det många variationsmöjligheter. Du har

själv 3 ”live parter” som kan spelas på klaviaturen, samtidigt som arrangören jobbar

med kompspåren (backing track). I denna live-del har du många olika ljud att välja

mellan så att ditt eget musikaliska behov ska kunna täckas.

BK-5 har även 16 samtidiga MIDI-kanaler, så instrumentet kan också användas för

uppspelning av vanliga Standard MIDI Filer (SMF), samtidigt som den kan både spela

in och spela upp ljudﬁler i wav- eller mp3-format direkt från ett USB-minne.

Frontpanelen

1. [Pitch Bend/Modulationshjul]

Detta kombinerade hjul ”bender” (böjer) dels tonen uppåt eller nedåt, om hjulet

pressas åt höger eller vänster. Dels får man vibrato på ljudet om hjulet pressas uppåt.

Både Pitch Bend och Vibrato måste dock vara programmerat i det valda ljudet för att

fungera.

2. [Phones 1 & 2]-kontakt

I dessa kontakter kan man koppla in upp till 2 hörlurar. När man ansluter en hörlur i

ett av uttagen bryts ljudet i de inbyggda högtalarna.

3. [Volume]-ratt

Denna ratt styr den allmäna ljudstyrkan hos BBK-5, samtidigt som den reglerar voly-

men på hörlursutgångarna.

4. [Rhythm Family]-knappar

Med dessa knappar väljer man stilen på nästa rytmkategori som du vill använda. Tryck

på en av knapparna för att visa en lista över alla de olika Rytmer som ﬁnns i kategorin.

5. [Tap Tempo]-funktionen

Tryck rytmiskt ﬂera gånger på denna knapp, så väljs tempot i den valda Rytmen eller

Songen till det tempo som du knackar in. Om knappen hålls nedtryckt låses det valda

tempot.

Front panel

Pitch Bend/Modulation lever

You can raise or lower the pitch by moving this lever

to the left or right. Push the lever away from yourself

to apply modulation (normally vibrato) to the sound.

PHONES 1 & 2 sockets

This is where you can connect one or two pairs of

optional headphones (Roland RH-series). Doing so

switches off the internal speakers.

VOLUME knob

Use this knob to set the BK-5’s global output volume

(all signals transmitted to the speakers and OUTPUT

sockets). The setting of this knob also determines the

volume in the headphones you may connect.

RHYTHM FAMILY buttons

These buttons are used to select the family of the

next rhythm you want to use. Pressing one of these

buttons calls up a list of all rhythms contained in the

selected family.

Pressing and holding this button locks the currently

selected rhythm (see p. 54).

TAP TEMPO button

Pressing this button several times allows you to

change the current rhythm’s or song’s tempo to the

value calculated from the speed at which the button

is pressed.

Pressing and holding this button locks the current

tempo setting (see p. 54).

TEMPO buttons

These buttons can be used to decrease or increase the

tempo of the currently selected rhythm or song.

Pressing them together recalls the rhythm’s or song’s

stored tempo value.

NOTE

You can also use the [TAP TEMPO] button E to set the

desired tempo.

SYNC START button

This button is used to activate or switch off the

BK-5’s Sync Start or Sync Stop function. If it is on,

rhythm playback can be started or stopped by simply

playing a note or chord on the keyboard. See also

page 27.

While a song file is selected, this button stops play-

back.

BALANCE buttons

These buttons allow you to set the balance between

the rhythms and songs (BACKING) and the real-time

parts (PART).

6. [Tempo]-knappar

Dessa knappar används för att höja eller sänka tempot på den valda Rytmen eller

Songen. Om båda knapparna trycks ned samtidigt, väljs det ursprungliga tempot, det

som är sparat i Rytmen eller Songen.

7. [Sync Start]-knapp

Med denna knapp sätter man på eller stänger av Sync Start-funktionen. Om funktio-

nen är på kan en Rytm startas eller stoppas genom att man helt enkelt spelar en ton

eller ett ackord på klaviaturen.

8. [Balance]-knappar

Dessa knappar styr balansen mellan arrangemangskompet (Rhythm eller Song) och

det som spelas live på BK-5 (Live Parts).

9. [Audio Rec]-knappen

Denna knapp används för att påbörja en inspelning av det som spelas på BK-5. Allt det

som hörs ut genom [Output]-kontakterna på baksidan av BK-5 kan spelas in. Knappen

används även för att välja Rhythm Composer-funktionen.

10. [Bass Inv]-knapp

Använd knappen för att sätta på eller stänga av Bass Inversion-funktionen.

11. [Auto Fill In]-knapp

Denna knapp sätter på Auto Fill In-funktionen, som ser till att en ”övergångsvariation”

(s.k. Fill-in) spelas innan en ny Rytmvariation spelas.

12. [Variation 1/2/3/4]-knappar

Dessa knappar används för att välja en Rytmvaration (Rhythm Variation), d.v.s. endera

en mer komplex eller en enklare variant av stilarten.

13. [Intro]-knapp

När man trycker på den här knappen spelas en introduktion, innan uppspelningen

påbörjas. Inom varje stilart ﬁnns fyra olika introduktioner, som väljs utifrån komplexi-

teten hos den Rytm (stilart) som valts.

14. [Ending]-knapp

När man trycker på den här knappen spelas en avslutning, innan Rytmuppspelningen

avslutas. Inom varje stilart ﬁnns fyra olika avslutningar, som väljs utifrån komplexite-

ten hos den Rytm (stilart) som valts.

15. [Start/Stop]-knapp

Den här knappen används för att starta eller stoppa uppspelningen av en Rytm eller

en Song.

16. Display

Denna display visar information och menyer på BK-5.

17. [Cursor/Value]-hjul

Denna stora ratt används för att förﬂytta markören i displayen och för att välja para-

metrar och andra värden.

18. [Enter/Select]-knapp

Tryck på den här knappen för att bekräfta ett val eller för att välja en funktion.

19. [Performance List]-knapp

Tryck på denna knapp för att plocka fram en Performance List i displayen.

20. [Performance Write]-knapp

Den här knappen används för att spara Performance-inställningar. Allt efter vad dis-

playen visar, kan knappen även användas för att spara Rhythms och Songs.

21. [Key]-knapp

Denna knapp plockar fram BK-5:s transponeringsfunktion. Transponeringen kan gälla

Rhythms, Songs och de tre parter, som kan spelas live. Om knappen lyser är transpo-

neringsfunktionen aktiv.

22. [Track Mute/ Center Cancel]-knapp

Med denna knapp kan man stänga av delar av Rhythm-arrangemanget så enbart

trummor eller basdelen hörs. Knappen ger även möjlighet att stänga av den ”part”

där melodin spelas i en vald SMF, eller för att dämpa sångdelen i en ljudﬁl (wav eller

Mp3), så man själv kan spela eller sjunga den parten/stämman. Om knappen hålls

nedtryckt visas en meny i displayen, där enskilda delar/spår i en Rhythm eller (SMF)

MIDI-ﬁl kan stängas av.

Backing Keyboard BK-5

AUDIO REC button

This button is used to start audio recording of your

performance. This function records everything the

BK-5 transmits to its OUTPUT sockets (audio signals

you play back and audio versions of the MIDI parts

you control). See page 52.

This button is also used to select the Rhythm Com-

poser function (see p. 81).

BASS INV button

This button is used to switch the Bass Inversion func-

tion on and off (page 29).

AUTO FILL IN button

This button is used to activate the Auto Fill-In func-

tion, which causes a transition to be played before

selecting the new rhythm variation (which is selected

with the VARIATION buttons).

VARIATION 1/2/3/4 buttons

These buttons are used to select a rhythm “Variation”,

i.e. a simpler or more complex arrangement of the

selected rhythm.

INTRO button

When you activate this button, rhythm playback

starts with a musical introduction whose complexity

depends on which VARIATION button currently lights

(there are four different introductions per rhythm).

After selecting a song file, this button allows you to

rewind.

NOTE

You can also press this button during rhythm playback.

ENDING button

When you activate this button, rhythm playback

stops with a musical ending whose complexity

depends on which VARIATION button currently lights

(there are four different ending phrases per rhythm).

After selecting a song file, this button allows you to

fast-forward.

START/STOP button

This button allows you to start and stop rhythm play-

back. If you select a song, it starts and temporarily

stops (pause) song playback.

Display

This display shows information related to your opera-

tion.

CURSOR/VALUE dial

This dial can be used to move the cursor in the dis-

play, to select parameters and to set values.

ENTER/SELECT button

Press this button to confirm your selection or dese-

lection of the display item where the cursor is.

PERFORMANCE LIST button

This button calls up the Performance List (page 45).

PERFORMANCE WRITE button

The main function of this button is to save Perfor-

mance settings. Depending on the selected display

page, it can also be used to save rhythms and songs.

KEY button

This button calls up the BK-5’s transposition func-

tion. Its settings can be applied to rhythms, Songs

and the 3 real-time parts (UP1, UP2, LWR).

23. [USB Memory]-knapp

Tryck på denna knapp för att se en lista över de ﬁler som är sparade på USB-minnet,

som anslutits till BK-5:s USB-port.

24. [USB Memory]-port

I denna port kan ett extern USB-minne kopplas in.

25. [Menu]-knapp

Genom att trycka på denna knapp kan man öppna ﬂera olika menyer och funktioner

i BK-5. Om knappen trycks ned samtidigt som [Exit]-knappen kan man lyssna på de

demosånger som ﬁnns i BK-5.

26. [Exit]-knapp

Använd den här knappen för att återvända till föregående meny eller upp till en högre

nivå i menysystemet.

27. [Split]-knapp

Den här knappen används för att sätta på Split-funktionen. När knappen lyser och

funktionen är aktiv spelar toner under C4 på klaviaturen LWR-parten (om den är aktiv)

och styr på så sätt ackorden i Rhythm-arrangemanget. På samma sätt spelar toner

ovanför C4 UP1- eller UP2-parterna/stämmorna.

28. [Part LWR og UP2]-knappar

De här knapparna sätter på eller stänger av dessa två Live-parter. UP1-parten är alltid

aktiv och kan inte stängas av.

29. [One Touch]-knapp

När den här knappen trycks ned kan Tone-knapparna [1-4] användas för att göra

snabbval bland minnesfunktionerna. Om knappen hålls nedtryckt visas en meny i

displayen där man kan välja vad man vill styra med One Touch-funktionerna.

30. [Melody Intell]-knapp

När den här knappen aktiveras, läggs automatiskt en kontramelodi till ditt solo eller

din melodi. Om knappen hålls nedtryckt visas en meny i displayen där man kan välja

vad man vill styra med Melody Intell-funktionen.

31. [Numeric]-knappen

När den här knappen aktiveras fungerar Tone-knapparna som numeriska knappar 0–9.

Knapparna kan på så sätt användas för att knappa in siffervärden.

32. [Tone]-knappar

Med de här knapparna väljer du ljud (Tone) ur instrumentkategorierna. Används även

tillsammans med [Numeric]-knappen för att knappa in siffervärden.

Baksidespanelen

1. [USB Computer]-kontakt

Använde en USB-sladd för att koppla BK-5 till en dator.

2. [Audio Input]-minitelekontakt

Denna ingång gör det möjligt att ansluta enheter som skickar signaler på linjenivå till

sina utgångar. Det kan t.ex. vara CD-/mp3-spelare och syntar.

3. [Audio Output R & L/Mono]-telekontakt

De här utgångarna skickar ut alla de ljudsignaler som alstras av BK-5, tillsammans

med de signaler, som tas emot via [Audio Input]-ingången.

4. [Video output]-utgång

Anslut den här utgången till en TV eller en extern videomonitor.

5. [Pedal Hold]-kontakt

I denna kontakt kopplar man in endera en Roland DP-serie eller Boss FS-5U-pedal. Den

här pedalen kan användas för att ”hålla” tonerna på live-parterna.

6. [Pedal Switch/Expression]-kontakt

Till denna kontakt kopplar man endera en pedalomkopplare (ex.vis ur Rolands DP-

serie), en fotomkopplare (ex.vis en Boss FS-5U) eller en expression-pedal (ex.vis en

Roland EV-5). Den anslutna pedalen kan användas för olika funktioner på BK-5.

7. [MIDI In & out]-kontakter

Här kan man ansluta MIDI-enheter.

8. [Power]-strömbrytare

Här sätter man på eller stänger av BK-5. Tänk på att BK-5 har en automatisk avstäng-

ningsfunktion, som stänger av instrumentet om det inte används på 30 minuter. ”Auto

Off”-funktionen kan dock slås ifrån om så önskas.

9. [DC In]-kontakt

Här ansluts den medföljande nätadaptern.

Rear panel

USB COMPUTER port

Use a USB cable to connect the BK-5 to your com-

puter via this connector (page 17).

AUDIO INPUT (STEREO) mini jack

This mini jack allows you to connect the audio out-

puts of an external signal source (CD/mp3 player,

synthesizer, etc.).

AUDIO OUTPUT R & L/MONO sockets

These sockets transmit all audio signals the BK-5

generates as well as the signals you input to the

BK-5.

NOTE

If you can/want to use only one channel on your external

amplifier, connect the L/MONO socket to its input. For opti-

mum sound quality, we recommend working in stereo,

though.

VIDEO OUTPUT socket

Connect this socket to the appropriate input of your

TV or external display.

NOTE

The signal format (PAL or NTSC) and aspect ratio are select-

able (page 67).

PEDAL HOLD socket

An optional Roland DP-series or BOSS FS-5U foot-

switch connected to this socket can be used to hold

the notes of the real-time parts. (The MELODY INTELL

part can also be sustained in this way.) This function

is also referred to as “sustain” or “damper”.

PEDAL SWITCH/EXPRESSION socket

Connect a separately available pedal switch (Roland

DP-series), a separately available foot switch (BOSS

FS-5U) or a separately available expression pedal

(Roland EV-5) to this jack (page 18).

MIDI IN & OUT sockets

You can connect MIDI devices to these sockets

(page 17).

POWER switch

Turns the power on/off (page 20).

With the factory settings, the BK-5’s power will auto-

matically be switched off 30 minutes after you stop

playing or operating the BK-5.

If the BK-5’s power has been turned off automati-

cally, you can use the [POWER] switch to turn the

BK-5 back on. If you don’t want the power to turn off

automatically, set the “Auto Off” parameter to “OFF”

(page 69).

Selecting a Tone on the main page

Ställ in balansen mellan Arrangemang och Live Parterna

Du kan använda [Balance]-knapparna för att styra förhållandet mellan arrangemang

och de parter som du spelar till arrangemanget (Live Parter). Tryck på knappen [Back-

Sync Start

Den här knappen styr funktionen Sync Start. Om knappen inte lyser är funktionen

■ VARIATION [1], [2], [3], [4]

These buttons are used to select the complexity

(number of parts) of the rhythm’s arrangement:

Note that the VARIATION patterns are repeated

(played back in a loop) until select a different pattern

or stop rhythm playback.

■ INTRO

Selects an introduction, which is usually used at the

beginning of a song. You can, however, also select

this pattern for other song sections. The behavior of

the Intro pattern depends on when you press the

[INTRO] button:

There are, in fact, four different INTRO patterns, that

can be selected using the VARIATION [1], [2], [3] and

[4] buttons. Again, the VARIATION buttons determine

the complexity of the intro arrangement.

■ ENDING

This button allows you to end your songs with a suit-

able closing section if you don’t want to simply stop

playback. The behavior of the Ending pattern depends

on when you press the [ENDING] button:

Explanation

[1] The simplest accompaniment pattern. A

good choice for the first of the songs you

play.

[2] A slightly more complex pattern you may

want to use for subsequent verses.

[3] This pattern would be a good choice for

the first chorus.

[4] This is the most complex arrangement.

Consider selecting it for the bridge or the

final chorus sections of a song.
