If the equipment is likely to come into contact with
aggressive substances, then it is the responsibility of the
user to take suitable precautions that prevent it from being
adversely affected, thus ensuring that the type of
protection provided by the equipment is not compromised.
Aggressive substances:
e.g. acidic liquids or gases that may attack metals, or
solvents that may affect polymeric materials.
2.1.1 Suitable precautions:
e.g. regular checks as part of routine inspections or
establishing from the material's data sheets that it is
resistant to specific chemicals.
Warning
- Do not open when energised.
Static hazard:
- Clean only with a damp cloth.
2.2 Installations and adjustments
Installation shall be carried out by suitably-trained
personnel in accordance with the applicable code of
practice e.g. EN 60079-14:1997.
The following instructions apply to equipment covered by
certificate number Sira 03ATEX1282: Before carrying out

The identification label should be as follows:
2Use
This EEx d switch box may only be used in Zone 1 and 2
areas. It may be used with flammable gases and vapours
associated with apparatus groups IIA, IIB and with
temperature classes T1 to T6 in the ambient temperature
range -20°C to +55°C.
The equipment is only certified for use in ambient
temperatures in the range -20°C to +55°C and should not
be used outside this range.
Be sure that the switch box is used only within the product
specification. If in doubt check the product data sheet and/
or contact Hytork Sales and Service.
There are four model versions, depending on the type of

2.2.1 Important safety procedures
a) Before carrying out any form of installation,
dismantling or maintenance on the actuator
or switchbox, ALWAYS disconnect all air and
electrical supplies.
b)Electrostatic Hazard. Clean only with a damp
cloth.
c) When replacing any items, use only HYTORK
supplied components and suitably qualified
and competent personnel.
3 Fitting the SafeVision
1 Attach the proper mounting platform or mounting
bracket to the SafeVision using the bolt and washer
sets provided. When using Safemount mounting
platforms, place the platform centrally along the base of
the SafeVision housing and secure the bolts for one of
the bolt mounting patterns.
2 The SM 80-20 platform will fit Hytork actuator models
with a 20mm high Namur pinion & the VDI/VDE 30mm x
80mm bolt pattern.
3 The SM 130-30 platform will fit Hytork actuator models
with a 30mm high Namur pinion & the VDI/VDE 30mm x
130mm bolt pattern.
4 Operate the actuator to the fully closed position.
5 Attach the SafeVision and mounting platform/bracket to
the actuator, locating the tang drive of the SafeVision
drive shaft correctly in the slot on top of the actuator
drive pinion.
6 Secure complete assembly using bolt and washer set
provided.
4 Removing the cover
1 Unscrew the eight cover to base securing screws
located around the SafeVision housing until all the
threads are disengaged from the base assembly.
2 Lift the cover assembly, complete with visual indicator
display, upwards and away.
3 The switches, terminal rail and switch setting cams are
now fully exposed.

5 Important wiring installation 7 Replacing the cover
- All electrical wiring must be carried out in accordance
with Local and National Electrical Standards and
Codes. i.e. EN 60079-14 (1997) or IEC 60079-14
(1996).
- The proper wiring diagram for each unit is located
inside the SafeVision housing. Check that the correct
wiring diagram has been included and follow the
diagram carefully.
- Connect with wiring 0.5 mm2 to 2.5 mm2, check that
the wires are properly inserted into the terminal block
and that all terminal screws are tight.
- Ensure that the internal earth (Ground) wire is
connected to the screw on the Switch/Terminal block
plate using a suitable crimped lug.
- Ensure that the external earth (Ground) wire is
connected to external earth stake using minimum 2.5
mm2 wiring and a suitable crimped lug.
- All unused cable entries are to be sealed using suitable
ATEX approved blanking plugs.
6 Setting the switches
1 Each switch has its own independent cam arrangement.
2 Lift the bottom cam against the spring to disengage it
from the drive spline and turn it until the switch is
activated. Once in the correct position, push the cam
back on to the spline.
3 To set the other cam, operate the unit to the opposite
end of its travel and adjust in the same manner.
4 Operate the unit fully in both directions several times to
check that the switches are operating correctly.
1 Confirm the final position of the actuator / valve.
2 Ensure that the visual indicator display coincides with
the position of the valve and that the drive tang on the
indicator drive shaft, is in the same orientation as the
slot on the switching drive shaft.
3 Replace the cover assembly with the two shafts
engaged correctly and tighten the eight cover to base
securing screws.
4 Operate the unit fully in both directions several times to
check that the visual indicator is operating correctly.
5 If repositioning of the visual indicator display is required
for orientation, unscrew the stop screw and rotate the
outer cap anti-clockwise by 15 degrees. Lift the cap to
remove it.
6 Reset the indicator by lifting and repositioning on the
drive shaft. Replace the outer cap and retighten the
screw.

suitably trained personnel in accordance with the
applicable code of practice e.g. EN 60079-19.
The top and bottom bearings are designed for 5
million operations. If this is expected to be
exceeded, the user should introduce routine
maintenance to check that the bearing clearance
does not exceed 0.12 mm.
Components to be incorporated into or used as
replacement parts of the equipment shall be fitted
by suitably trained personnel in accordance with the
