Intended use
Your Black & Decker hand mixer has been designed for
mixing, beating and whipping food and beverage
ingredients. This product is intended for household use only.

Safety instructions
When using mains-powered appliances, basic
safety precautions, including the following,
should always be followed to reduce the risk
of fire, electric shock and personal injury.
X Read all of this manual carefully before using the
appliance.
X The intended use is described in this manual. The use of
any accessory or attachment or the performance of any
operation with this appliance other than those
recommended in this instruction manual may present a risk
of personal injury.
X Retain this manual for future reference.
Using your appliance
X Do not touch moving parts.
X Keep hands, long hair and loose clothing away from
the beaters.
X Make sure that the appliance is switched off before
connecting to or disconnecting from the power supply.
X Always take care when using the appliance.
X Never pull the power supply cord to disconnect the plug
from the socket. Keep the power supply cord away from
heat, oil and sharp edges.
X Do not use the appliance outdoors.
X Always protect the motor unit from water or excessive
humidity.
X Operate the appliance only with dry hands.
X Never detach the beaters from the main body while the
appliance is still connected to the power supply. Always
disconnect the unit from the power supply first.
X Never clean the beaters under running water while they are
still connected to the main body.
X Take care that the beaters do not touch the power supply
cord while operating the unit.
X If the power supply cord is damaged during use, disconnect
the appliance from the power supply immediately. Do not
touch the power supply cord before disconnecting from the
power supply.
X Disconnect the appliance from the power supply when not
in use, before fitting or removing parts and before cleaning.
Safety of others
X Do not allow children or any person unfamiliar with these
instructions to use the appliance.
X Do not allow children or animals to come near the work
area or to touch the appliance or power supply cord. Close
supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near
children.
After use
X Switch off and remove the plug from the socket before
leaving the appliance unattended and before changing,
cleaning or inspecting any parts of the appliance.
X When not in use, the appliance should be stored in
a dry place. Children should not have access to stored
appliances.
Inspection and repairs
X Before use, check the appliance for damaged or defective
parts. Check for breakage of parts, damage to switches and
any other conditions that may affect its operation.
X Do not use the appliance if any part is damaged
or defective.
X Have any damaged or defective parts repaired or replaced
by an authorized repair agent.
X Before use, check the power supply cord for signs of
damage, ageing and wear.
X Do not use the appliance if the power supply cord or mains
plug is damaged or defective.
X If the power supply cord or mains plug is damaged or
defective it must be repaired by an authorised repair agent
in order to avoid a hazard. Do not cut the power supply cord
and do not attempt to repair it yourself.
X Never attempt to remove or replace any parts other than
those specified in this manual.
Electrical Safety
Before use check that the mains voltage corresponds to the
voltage on the rating plate (4).
This appliance is double insulated in
accordance with EN 60335; therefore no earth
wire is required.
To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not
immerse the cord, plug or motor unit in water
or other liquid.

Assembly
Switch off the appliance and allow moving
parts to stop before changing accessories
or approaching parts that move in use.
Fitting the beaters
X Switch off and unplug the appliance.
X Insert the stem of a beater (5) into one of the mounting
holes (6) in the motor unit (4).
X Push and turn the beater (5) until in locks into place.
X Repeat for the other beater.
Removing the beaters
X Switch off and unplug the appliance
X Rotate the speed control switch (1) to ‘0’ to turn the
appliance off.
X Push the release button (2) down to release the beaters.
Use
Keep hands, long hair and loose clothing away
from the beaters.
Position the power supply cord so that it does
not hang over the edge of worktops and cannot
be caught accidentally or tripped over.
X To switch on, move the speed control switch (1) to one of
the positions 1 (lowest speed) to 6 (highest speed). It is
recommended to start at a low speed, and then change to
a higher speed if necessary.
X To switch off, move the speed control switch (1) to
position 0.
Do not operate the appliance continuously for
more than 10 minutes. After operating the
appliance continuously for 10 minutes, let it
cool down for at least 10 minutes before
operating it again.
X When working with liquids, use a low speed in order to
avoid splashing liquid onto the appliance.
X Firmly hold the container that you are using with the mixer.
Cleaning and maintenance
Before cleaning and maintenance, switch the
appliance off and unplug it.
X Wash the beaters (5) in warm soapy water and dry well.
X Wipe the motor unit (4) with a damp cloth. Do not use any
abrasive or solvent-based cleaner.
Protecting the environment
Separate collection of used products and
packaging allows materials to be recycled and
used again. Re-use of recycled materials helps
prevent environmental pollution and reduces the
demand for raw materials.
Local regulations may provide for separate
collection of electrical products from the
household, at municipal waste sites or by the
retailer when you purchase a new product.
Black & Decker provides a facility for the collection and
recycling of Black & Decker products once they have reached
the end of their working life. To take advantage of this
service please return your product to any authorised repair
agent who will collect them on our behalf.

Speed Function Use
1 Blend To combine liquids, fold in dry
ingredients, egg whites and whipped
cream.
2 Stir To prepare sauces, gravies, puddings,
muffins and quick breads.
3 Mix To prepare batters and mixes.
4 Beat To cream butter and sugar, make cookie
dough, cake mixes and icings.
5 Whip To cream together, shortening and sugar.
6 Whip To whip and fluff mixtures, whip cream,
beat eggs (whites, yolks or whole) and
mash potatoes.
