GENERAL INFORMATION
The usage of any navigation system does not exempt the driver from his responsibilities.
Always pay attention to the local traffic regulations.
Remember, watching the road is more important than watching the display!
If the current traffic situation and the advice of the navigation system are in contradiction,
the traffic regulations always have the priority over advice given by the system.
To avoid faulty operation or interference of the system do not cover the GPS aerial
(GPS = Global Positioning System ) or any other aerial connected to the unit.

TMC (Traffic Message Channel) is a broadcast service supplied by RDS (Radio Data System)
providers* on the FM band. RDS TMC is a radio technique whereby inaudible digital information
is transmitted alongside a normal radio program. RDS broadcasters transmit realtime
messages about traffic events to drivers in their own languages instantly. This information can
then be filtered according to the users specified itinerary by means of receiver functions.
With the MT 5011 the actual traffic situation on your route is taken into consideration for the
purpose of ‘up to the minute’ traffic guidance. When utilizing the Tuner Box you will be
informed of all possible traffic obstructions covered by TMC that occur on your route and
advised on possible diversions in order to avoid these obstructions. The Tuner Box receives
information conveyed in the form of a ‘virtual’ language, the transmitted codes comprise of
addresses and information stored in decoder databases.
TMC COMPATIBILITY
The Tuner Box is compatible with the following navigation units. For fully detailed operating
instructions please consult your navigation computer’s instruction manual.
Nav computer : PC5500/PC5400/PC3200/PC5100/PC5000/PC4000
Nav computer : All C-IQ related Siemens VDO standalone versions.
*TMC is not yet implemented in all countries and is not supported by all RDS broadcasters.

WHERE YOU DECIDE TO INSTALL THE TUNER BOX WILL DEPEND
ON A NUMBER OF FACTORS
Your choice of antenna, i.e whether or not you use an existing antenna or a dedicated antenna.
Where your antenna is placed. Taking into account the length of cabling required.
The availability of space in your car.
RECOMMENDED SITES FOR THE MOUNTING OF THE TUNER BOX
Under the driver’s or front passenger’s seat.
Under the dashboard.
In the luggage boot of your car.
Please ensure that wherever the Tuner Box is mounted it does not hinder or obstruct your
movement or driving ability.
Also please ensure that all components are mounted in positions where there is no risk of
impact with head or knees in the event of an accident.
Before installation please ensure that all parts needed for use are present, and that you have
the correct tools needed to complete the task.
Pay particular attention to the placement of components, when drilling holes pay attention
to the location of cable harnesses, the fuel tank and fuel pipes.
Never drill into car parts that are load bearing or are important for reasons of safety.
POWER SUPPLY CONNECTIONS
Before commencing with the installation procedure it is advisable to read carefully all of the
installation instructions and make sure that they are relevant to the navigation computer
being used.
The power data cable provides the interface between the navigation unit and the Tuner Box.
It provides the power to the unit as well as transferring broadcast information from the Tuner
Box to the navigation unit.
Before commencing with installation, please disconnect your car battery terminals. (Fig. 1)
Brown wire. Connect to an earthing point on the car body. (Fig. 2)
Yellow/red wire. Connect to a permanent 12 V supply. This is the main power supply. (Fig. 2)
Red wire. Connect to the switched 12 volt supply of the car ignition. (Fig. 2)
NOTE:
The main battery wire of the power data cable contains an in-line fuse.
Should this fuse need replacing, please use a 3 amp bayonet style fuse.
CONNECTING THE POWER DATA CABLE TO NAVIGATION UNITS PC 5000/PC4000
AND ALL C-IQ SIEMENS VDO COMPUTERS.
Insert the green connector block C2 into the rear of the navigation unit at point C2. (Fig. 3)
Connect the white connector block to the POWER/DATA socket of the Tuner Box. (Fig. 3)
Reconnect your car battery terminals. (Fig. 7)

CONNECTING THE POWER DATA CABLE TO NAVIGATION UNITS
PC 3000 / SY587
When performing the installation of the Tuner Box to either the PC 3000 or SY587 navigation
computers it is necessary to modify the connection cable. Please follow these instructions for
installation carefully, failure to do so will result in the non-function of the Tuner Box and
navigation computer.
Remove the green connector block C2 from the power data cable. (Fig. 4)
Secure the red wire to the pink wire B1 (refer to the cable installation diagram of the
navigation manual). (Fig. 5)
Secure the white wire to the brown/ pink wire B9 (refer to the cable installation diagram
of the navigation manual). (Fig. 5)
Connect the signal cable to point B on the rear of the navigation unit. (Fig. 6)
Connect the white connector block of the power data cable to the power/data socket of
the Tuner Box. (Fig. 6)
Reconnect your car battery terminals. (Fig. 7)
- After performing this procedure ensure that all wires not in use are safely secured and screened.
CONNECTING AN ANTENNA TO THE TUNER BOX
If your current antenna does not have a Din type adapter, please use the antenna adapter supplied.
Insert the antenna adapter into the ‘antenna’ socket of the Tuner Box.
Ensure that there is a distance of 40mm between the the antenna and the window surround.
To install and connect the Powered FM Antenna, please refer to the separate mounting instruction.

THE ON/OFF LED
The ON/OFF LED is located on the front side face of the Tuner Box.
The LED’s function provides the user with a visual indication of the status of the Tuner Box.
The LED will become active when the ignition is switched on and initialization of the unit occurs.
The LED will remain illuminated whilst the unit is functioning and the car ignition is on.
The LED will cease to function when the ignition is switched off and the unit’s power has dissipated.
This procedure will usually take about 5 seconds.
