Thank you for purchasing your new ELETRA CLOCK RADIO WITH DAB+.
We recommend that you spend some time reading this instruction manual
in order that you fully understand all the operational features it offers.
Read all the safety instructions carefully before use and keep this
instruction manual for future reference.
SAFETY WARNINGS
- Read all the instructions carefully before using the unit and keep them for future reference.
Check that the voltage marked on the rating label matches your mains voltage.
- The unit must be placed on a flat stable surface and should not be subjected to vibrations.
- Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable surfaces as the unit may fall off or tip over.
- The mains socket must be located near the unit and should be easily accessible.
- Avoid extreme degrees of temperature, either hot or cold. Place the unit well away from
heat sources such as radiators or gas/electric fires. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and
other sources of heat.
- Never place any type of candle or naked flame on the top of or near the unit.
- To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or product damage, do not expose this unit to rain,
moisture, dripping or splashing. No objects filled with liquids, such as vases, should be
placed on the unit.
- If you spill any liquid into the unit, it can cause serious damage. Switch it off at the mains
immediately. Withdraw the mains plug and consult your dealer.
- To prevent the risk of electric shock or fire hazard due to overheating, ensure that curtains
and other materials do not obstruct the ventilation vents.
- Do not install or place this unit in a bookcase, built-in cabinet or in another confined space.
Ensure that a minimum of 10cm should be kept around the unit for ventilation.
SAFETY
- Always disconnect the unit from the mains supply before connecting / disconnecting other
devices or moving the unit.
- Unplug the unit from the mains socket during a lightning storm.
- This unit will become warm when used for a long period of time. This is normal and does
not indicate a problem with the unit.

The CAUTION marking is located on the unit.
The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol, within an equilateral triangle, is
intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated “dangerous voltage”
within the unit’s enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a
risk of electric shock.
The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user
to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions
in the manual accompanying the unit.
This symbol means that this unit is double insulated. An earth connection is not
required.
INTERFERENCE
- Do not place the unit on or near appliances which may cause electromagnetic interference.
If you do, it may adversely affect the operating performance of the unit, and cause a
distorted sound.
SUPERVISION
- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the unit.
- Never let anyone especially children push anything into the holes, slots or any other
openings in the case - this could result in a fatal electric shock.
SERVICE/MAINTENANCE
- To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove screws. The unit does not contain any
user serviceable parts. Leave all maintenance work to qualified personnel.
- Do not open any fixed covers as this may expose dangerous voltages.
- Ensure to unplug the unit from the mains socket before cleaning.
- Do not use any type of abrasive pad or abrasive cleaning solutions as these may damage
the unit's surface.
- Do not use liquids to clean the unit.
This unit is designed to operate on an AC 230V~50Hz supply only. Connecting it to other
power sources may damage it. Ensure that the supply corresponds to the information on
the rating label on the unit.

CONNECTING TO THE POWER SUPPLY
Plug the AC power cable into the AC wall socket.
INSTALLING THE BATTERIES
The batteries are only for backing up the clock of the unit, not for the unit to operate to
receive DAB or FM radio. Ensure that the unit is disconnected from the mains supply.
Remove the battery compartment cover at the bottom of the unit. Install 2pcs UM42 (LR03)
AAA size batteries (not included) according to the polarity markings shown on the inside of
the compartment. Install back the battery door.
Warning!
Danger of explosion if batteries are incorrectly installed. Replace with the same equivalent
type only.
BASIC OPERATION
Press the STANDBY button to turn on for the first time in DAB mode. It will automatically
scan the DAB channels to search for available stations. Wait for a while until the scanning
is finished. Display will illuminate to show the bar indicating station searching.
After scanning it will tune to the first station. The next time the unit is turned on there will
be no automatic searching.
To turn off the unit, press and hold the STANDBY button.
DAB / FM
Press the BAND button to toggle between DAB and FM modes.
Volume Control
Press the VOL+ or VOL- button to change the volume.
Adjusting the Antenna
The wire antenna at the rear panel of the unit should be extended to ensure a good
DAB / FM reception. Alter the wire antenna position for the best reception.

DAB OPERATION
Auto Scan
1. Turn on the unit in DAB mode.
2. Press and hold the SCAN button to start auto-scanning the available stations.
Manual Scan
1. Turn on the unit in DAB mode.
2. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to access the menu control.
3. Press the PREV or NEXT button until “Manual tune” is displayed and then press the
ENTER button.
4. Press the PREV or NEXT button to select the desired channel (5A-13F).
5. Press the ENTER button to confirm.
6. To select another channel (5A-13F), press the PREV or NEXT button and then press the
ENTER button to confirm.
7. To quit manual scan, press the INFO/MENU button.
Tuning
Press the PREV or NEXT button to display the information of the next station. Then press
the ENTER button to tune to this station in few seconds.
Storing DAB Presets
You can save up to 20 DAB stations.
1. Tune to the station you wish to store.
2. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to access the menu control.
3. Press the PREV or NEXT button until “Preset Store” is displayed and then press the
ENTER button.
4. Press the PREV or NEXT button to a preset number that you want to store. Then press
the ENTER to save.
Recall DAB Presets
1. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to access the menu control.
2. Press the PREV or NEXT button until “Preset Recall” is displayed and then press the
ENTER button.
3. Press the PREV or NEXT button to a preset number that you want to recall. Then press
the ENTER to confirm.

Displaying DAB Station Information
There are 9 types of information as listed below. To change the display information, press
the INFO/MENU button repeatedly.
1. Radio Text scrolling = Comprises music titles or programme details provided by the
broadcaster.
2. Signal Bar = Transmission signal level.
The more the rectangles are filled, the stronger the signal is received. The unfilled
rectangle on the left hand side is a threshold level where the signal strength received
should exceed this threshold. To improve the reception adjust the antenna position.
3. Program Type (PTY) = Type of programme provided by the broadcaster.
4. Multiplex Name = Displays name of multiplex to which the current station belongs.
5. Channel and Frequency = Current channel number and frequency.
6. Signal Error Rate = It shows the error received. The larger this value the more the error
received. To improve the reception adjust the antenna position.
7. Audio Bit Rate / Audio Type
8. Time = Real time provided by the broadcaster.
9. Date = Current date provided by the broadcaster.

OTHER DAB MENU OPERATIONS
Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to access the menu control. Then press the PREV or
NEXT button for different options as described below.
Dynamic Range Control (DRC)
DRC can make quieter sounds easier to hear when the unit is used in a noisy environment.
The DRC level of a broadcast is set by the broadcaster and transmitted with the service.
Changing the DRC value on your unit enables you to apply a scaling factor to this level.
There are three levels of compression:
DRC high: Maximum compression as sent with the transmitted service
DRC low: Set to 1/2 that of the sent transmitted service
DRC off: No compression
1. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to access the menu control.
2. Press the PREV or NEXT button until “DRC” is displayed and then press the ENTER
button.
3. Press the PREV or NEXT button to select the DRC value and then press the ENTER
to confirm.
4. Press the INFO/MENU button to exit the menu control.
Note:
- Not all DAB broadcasts are able to use DRC function. If the broadcast does not support
DRC then the DRC setting in the unit will have no effect.
- After you have adjusted the DRC level the sound may be louder.
Prune
This function removes inactive stations.
1. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to access the menu control.
2. Press the PREV or NEXT button until “Prune” is displayed and then press the ENTER
button.
3. Press the PREV or NEXT button to select “Yes” and then press the ENTER button to
prune the unit.
4. Press the INFO/MENU button to exit the menu control.

FM RADIO OPERATION
Auto Scan
1. Turn on the unit in FM mode.
2. Press and hold the SCAN button to start auto-scanning the available stations.
Manual Scan
1. Press the PREV or NEXT button repeatedly to tune to a different frequency.
2. Alternatively press and hold the PREV or NEXT button to automatically search to the
next available station.
Storing FM Presets
You can save up to 20 FM stations.
1. Tune to the station you wish to store.
2. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to access the menu control.
3. Press the PREV or NEXT button until “Preset Store” is displayed and then press
the ENTER button.
4. Press the PREV or NEXT button to a preset number that you want to store. Then
press the ENTER to save.
Recall FM Presets
1. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to access the menu control.
2. Press the PREV or NEXT button until “Preset Recall” is displayed and then press
the ENTER button.
3. Press the PREV or NEXT button to a preset number that you want to recall. Then
press the ENTER to confirm. The preset station number will be shown on the display.

Displaying FM Station Information
There are 6 types of information as listed below. To change the display information press
the INFO/MENU button repeatedly.
1. Radio Text = Scrolling text which comprises information on music titles or programme
details provided by the broadcaster.
2. Program Type (PTY) = Type of programme provided by the broadcaster.
3. Radio Frequency = Current channel frequency.
4. Audio Type = Stereo or Mono.
5. Time = Real time provided by the broadcaster.
6. Date = Current date provided by the broadcaster.
OTHER FM MENU OPERATION
Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to access the menu control. Then press the PREV or
NEXT button for different options as described below.
Scan Setting
1. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to access the menu control.
2. Press the PREV or NEXT button until “Scan setting” is displayed and then press the
ENTER button.
3. Press the PREV or NEXT button to toggle between “All stations” and “Strong station”.
4. Press the ENTER button to confirm.
5. The next time doing a FM scan the unit will search for the stations based on this
confirmed setting.
Audio Setting
1. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to access the menu control.
2. Press the PREV or NEXT button until “Audio setting” is displayed and then press the
ENTER button.
3. Press the PREV or NEXT button to toggle between “Stereo allowed” and “Forced mono”.
4. Press the ENTER button to confirm.

ALARM SETUP
1. Turn off the unit in Standby mode.
2. Press and hold the AL1/VOL+ button to access the alarm setup menu.
3. Press the PREV or NEXT button to set the alarm on time hour setting. Then press the
AL1/VOL+ button to confirm.
4. Press the PREV or NEXT button to set the alarm on time minute setting. Then press the
AL1/VOL+ button to confirm and it will go to the next menu.
5. Press the PREV or NEXT button to set the alarm duration of 45, 60, 90, 120, 09, 15 or
30 minutes. Then press the AL1/VOL+ button to confirm and it will go to the next menu.
6. Press the PREV or NEXT button to set the alarm on source (Buzzer, DAB or FM). Then
press the AL1/VOL+ button to confirm and it will go to the next menu.
7. Press the PREV or NEXT button to set the alarm on type (Daily, Weekdays, Weekends or
Once). Press the AL1/VOL+ button to save and finish the set up for AL1 setup.
8. The alarm 1 symbol will show on the display. To turn off the alarm schedule , press the
AL1/VOL+ button once in standby mode. The alarm 1 symbol will switch off. To turn on
the alarm schedule again, press the AL1/VOL+ button once again.
9. You can also set the 2nd alarm using same precedures as above by pressing the
AL2/VOL- button instead of the AL1/VOL+ button.
When the alarm sounds, press the STANDBY, AL1/VOL+ or AL2/VOL- to stop the alarm.
SNOOZE FUNCTION
When the alarm sounds, press the SNOOZE button. The alarm will sound again after the
snooze time of 9 minutes.
1. Press the SNOOZE button repeatedly to select other snooze time from either 05, 09, 15,
20 or 30 minutes.
2. To cancel the snooze function press the STANDBY button.
SLEEP FUNCTION
With this function you can listen to the radio for up to 90 minutes then it will turn off
automatically after 90 minutes.
1. When the unit is switched on, press the SLEEP button repeatedly to select a sleep
duration from either 05, 10, 15, 30, 45, 90 minutes or sleep off. The sleep time count
down value will show on the display.
2. At the end of the sleep timer the radio will turn off automatically.
3. To cancel the sleep function, press and hold the STANDBY button to turn off the unit.
Or press the SLEEP button repeatedly to select “sleep off”.

TIME, DATE & YEAR SETUP
1. Turn off the unit in Standby mode.
2. Press and hold the TIME/M+ button to access the setup menu.
3. Press the PREV or NEXT button to toggle between 24 hour or 12 hour clock display format.
Press the TIME/M+ button to confirm and it will go to the next menu.
4. Press the PREV or NEXT button to adjust the hour. Press the TIME/M+ button to confirm.
5. Press the PREV or NEXT button to adjust the minute. Press the TIME/M+ button to
confirm and it will go to the next menu.
6. Press the PREV or NEXT button to adjust the date. Press the TIME/M+ button to confirm.
7. Press the PREV or NEXT button to adjust the month. Press the TIME/M+ button to
confirm.
8. Press the PREV or NEXT button to adjust the year. Press the TIME/M+ button to save and
finish the set up.
Note:
The time, date and year set may automatically be overriden by the DAB or FM station real
time information.
SOFTWARE VERSION CHECK
You can check the unit software version.
1. Turn on the unit in DAB mode or FM mode.
2. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to access the menu control.
3. Press the PREV or NEXT button until “System” is displayed and then press the ENTER
button.
4. Press the PREV or NEXT button until “SW version” is displayed and then press the ENTER
button to show the software version number.
5. Press the INFO/MENU button once to re-enter to the previous menu level. Or press it
repeatedly to exit the menu control.
LANGUAGE SETUP
You can set the unit’s language.
1. Turn on the unit in DAB mode or FM mode.
2. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to access the menu control.
3. Press the PREV or NEXT button until “System” is displayed and then press the ENTER
button.
4. Press the PREV or NEXT button until “Language” is displayed and then press the ENTER
button.
5. Press the PREV or NEXT button to toggle between different languages. Select your
desired language and then press the ENTER button to confirm.
6. Press the INFO/MENU button once to re-enter the previous menu level. Or press it
repeatedly to exit the menu control.

FACTORY RESET
This function resets the unit to the original factory settings.
1. Turn on the unit in DAB mode or FM mode.
2. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to access the menu control.
3. Press the PREV or NEXT button until “System” is displayed and then press the ENTER
button.
4. Press the PREV or NEXT button until “Factory Reset” is displayed and then press the
ENTER button.
5. Press the PREV or NEXT button to select “Yes” and then press the ENTER button to
reset the unit.
6. After reset, the unit will return to Standby mode.
