2.7 Application examples
CAUTION!
Before cleaning temperature and moisture-sensitive materials, test a
concealed area first.
Begin at low steam level and make sure to maintain a minimum
distance of 6 cm from the material to be cleaned, as otherwise the
object to be cleaned could be damaged due to the high steam
temperature.
Marble
Never clean directly with the floor nozzle without a cloth. Repeated
use may be necessary on marble floors in order to completely remove
old cleaning agent and grease spots. Select a low steam level for this
type of cleaning and increase if necessary.
Tiles/ceramic floors
Water and cleaning agent cause black stripes to form in the cracks.
Dust and other residues collect there. For daily cleaning, stretch a
fresh, clean cloth over the floor nozzle and fix it in place with the
mounting clips. Glide lightly over the floor with the floor nozzle. To
use the cloth optimally, it can be shifted or turned over on the floor
nozzle. If the dirt is stubborn, cleaning can be carried out with the
fold-out brush alone without a cloth. The dirt is brushed out of the
cracks with the bristles and removed. Then wrap the floor nozzle
with a cloth again and wipe the floor.
Area rugs and other carpets
Select a low steam level when cleaning carpets. The carpets must be
cleaned with a vacuum cleaner first. For area rugs and other carpets,
it is necessary to wrap the floor nozzle with a cloth. Lightly (without
pressure) and quickly run the nozzle over the carpet. Make sure that
a clean area of the cloth is always used. Coffee and wine stains etc.
can be removed with the spot stream nozzle: Distance 2 -3 cm, wipe
up with a cloth. Pressure marks in carpets from furniture also
disappear, since the floor regenerates. The cleaned surfaces are dry
after just a few minutes, since the hot steam only moistens without
setting. After steam cleaning the carpet can be vacuumed with a
vacuum cleaner again if necessary.
Operation/Use
41
Cleaning other surfaces
With the practical, swivel corner brush even the most difficult, hard-
to-reach places can be cleaned. For angles, corners, joints and cracks
the spot-stream nozzle can be used.
Windows and vertical surfaces
We recommend using the corner brush for cleaning the inside of
windows. Wrap it with a cotton cloth and clip the cloth in place.
Then glide over the window. Window frames can be cleaned in the
same way. Use the window nozzle for outside cleaning in order to
remove heavier dirt, deposits and insect residues from the window.
For large windows the floor nozzle can also be used together with a
cloth. Repeat the procedure until no more streaks from previously
used cleaning agents can be seen. Dry windows with window nozzle
afterward. With the window nozzle the steam is sprayed directly
onto the window and the dirt removed. The water catch sponge
remains folded in and serves to catch the condensed water exiting at
the nozzle. For high windows the extension tubes can also be used.
IMPORTANT!
In winter the windows must be pre-warmed. Hold the nozzle 5 - 10
cm from the window and allow the heat to work. Select a low steam
level for cleaning the inside of windows. A high steam level can be
selected for outside cleaning.
Using the upholstery nozzle
The upholstery nozzle is used to freshen up or clean upholstered
chairs, ceilings, mattresses, clothing, draperies etc. For this purpose
the upholstery nozzle must be completely wrapped in a cleaning
cloth. Now move over the object to be cleaned directly or at a
certain distance. The steam penetrates into the fibres and makes
them like new.
IMPORTANT!
Before cleaning temperature and moisture-sensitive materials, test a
concealed area first.
Operation/Use
42
Ironing with steam
IMPORTANT!
Your ironing board must allow steam to pass through; the Alto Steam
Ironing Station is provided with a screen support for this purpose.
Always set down the iron with the running surface on the
support provided!
Compared to a conventional steam iron, youll achieve an approx. 10
times greater steam output with the steam ironing system. The
ironing time will be reduced by about 50 %, and even dry laundry
can be ironed easily.
