Operation Manual and perform the test run to ensure normal operation. Both the
Installation Manual and Operation Manual must be given to the user for keeping.
These manuals must be passed on to subsequent users.

frigerant.TheR410ArefrigerantintheHFCsystemispressurized1.6times
the pressure of usual refrigerants. Ifpipe components not designedfor
R410Arefrigerantareusedandtheunitisnotinstalledcorrectly,thepipes
mayburstandcausedamageorinjuries.Inaddition,waterleakage,electric
shock,orremayresult.
• Theunitmustbeinstalled according to the instructions in order tomini-
mizetheriskofdamagefromearthquakes,typhoons,orstrongwinds.An
incorrectlyinstalledunitmayfalldownandcausedamageorinjuries.
• The unit must be securely installed on a structure that can sustain its
weight.Iftheunitismountedonanunstablestructure,itmayfalldownand
causedamageorinjuries.
• Iftheairconditionerisinstalledinasmallroom,measuresmustbetaken
to prevent the refrigerant concentration inthe room from exceeding the
safetylimitintheeventofrefrigerantleakage.Consultadealerregarding
theappropriatemeasurestopreventtheallowableconcentrationfrombe

ingexceeded.Shouldtherefrigerantleakandcausetheconcentrationlimit
tobeexceeded,hazardsduetolackofoxygenintheroommayresult.
• Ventilatetheroomifrefrigerantleaksduringoperation.Ifrefrigerantcomes
intocontactwithaame,poisonousgaseswillbereleased.
• Allelectricworkmustbeperformedbyaqualiedtechnicianaccordingto
localregulationsandtheinstructionsgiveninthismanual.Theunitsmust
bepowered by dedicated powerlines andthe correctvoltage andcircuit
breakersmustbeused.Powerlineswithinsufcientcapacityorincorrect
electricalworkmayresultinelectricshockorre.
• Use C1220copper phosphorus, for copper and copper alloy seamless
pipes,toconnecttherefrigerantpipes.Ifthepipesarenotconnectedcor
-
rectly,theunitwillnotbeproperlygroundedandelectricshockmayresult.
• Useonly specied cables forwiring. The connections must bemade se-
curelywithouttensionontheterminals.Ifthecablesareconnectedorin
-
stalledincorrectly,overheatingorremayresult.
• Theterminalblockcoverpaneloftheoutdoorunitmustbermlyattached.
Ifthecoverpanelismountedincorrectlyanddustandmoistureenterthe
unit,electricshockorremayresult.
• Wheninstallingormovingtheairconditioner,useonlythespeciedrefrig-
erant(R410A)tochargetherefrigerantlines.Donotmixitwithanyother
refrigerantanddonotallowairtoremaininthelines.Airenclosedinthe
linescancausepressurepeaksresultinginaruptureandotherhazards.
• Use only accessories authorized by Mitsubishi Electricand aska dealer
or an authorizedtechnician to installthem. If accessories are incorrectly
installed,waterleakage,electricshock,orremayresult.
• Donotalterthe unit.Consultadealerfor repairs.Ifalterationsorrepairs
arenot performedcorrectly, waterleakage,electricshock, orremayre
-
sult.
• Theuser should never attemptto repairthe unitor transferit toanother
location. Iftheunit isinstalled incorrectly, water leakage, electricshock,
orremayresult.Iftheairconditionermustberepairedormoved,aska
dealeroranauthorizedtechnician.
• Afterinstallationhasbeencompleted,checkforrefrigerantleaks.Ifrefrig-
erantleaksintotheroomandcomesintocontactwiththeameofaheater
orportablecookingrange,poisonousgaseswillbereleased.
1.1.Beforeinstallation
Caution:
• Do not use the unit inan unusual environment. If the air conditioner is
installedinareasexposedtosteam,volatileoil(includingmachineoil),or
sulfuric gas, areas exposed to high saltcontent such as the seaside, or
areaswheretheunitwillbecoveredbysnow,theperformancecanbesig
-
nicantlyreducedandtheinternalpartscanbedamaged.
• Do not install the unit where combustible gases may leak, be produced,
ow,oraccumulate.If combustible gas accumulatesaroundtheunit,re
orexplosionmayresult.
• The outdoor unit produces condensation during theheating operation.
Makesuretoprovidedrainagearoundtheoutdoorunitifsuchcondensa
-
tionislikelytocausedamage.
• When installing the unit ina hospital or communications office, be pre-
pared for noise and electronic interference. Inverters,home appliances,
high-frequencymedicalequipment,and radiocommunicationsequipment
can cause the airconditioner tomalfunction orbreakdown. The aircon
-
ditionermay also affect medicalequipment, disturbingmedical care, and
communicationsequipment,harmingthescreendisplayquality.
1.2.Beforeinstallation(relocation)
Caution:
• Be extremely careful when transporting the units. Two or more persons
are needed tohandle the unit,asit weighs 20 kg ormore. Do notgrasp
thepackagingbands.Wearprotectiveglovestoremovetheunitfromthe
packagingandtomoveit,asyoucaninjureyourhandsonthensorother
parts.
• Besuretosafelydisposeofthepackagingmaterials.Packagingmaterials,
suchasnailsand othermetalorwoodenparts maycausestabs orother
injuries.
• Thebaseandattachmentsoftheoutdoorunitmustbeperiodicallychecked
forlooseness,cracksorotherdamage.Ifsuchdefectsareleftuncorrected,
theunitmayfalldownandcausedamageorinjuries.
• Donotcleantheairconditionerunitwithwater.Electricshockmayresult.
• Tightenallare nuts tospecication using atorque wrench.If tightened
toomuch,thearenutcanbreakafteranextendedperiodandrefrigerant
canleakout.
