5601(AG-601),NZS5261).Anyshortcomingsintheapplianceandflueinstallation
willbetheresponsibilityoftheinstaller,andMasportLtdwillnotbeaccountablefor

The guardis fittedtothis appliance(Australia only) to reduce the risk of fire or
injury from burns and no part of it should be permanently removed. For the

LIGHTINGANDRUNNINGTHEFIRE:-
•Openthegassupplyvalvebehindtheappliance,iffitted.
CAUTION:Ifthemainburnerhasbeenalight,waittwotothreeminutestoallowittocoolbeforere-
lightingit.
ACCMODELS:-
Thesecanbeinthreeconfigurations.Theymaybeusedassupplied,ortheymaybefittedwitheithera
battery operated wall-mounted thermostat which is wired directly to the heater, or a thermostat
containedinaportableremotecontrol.Withthelatteroption,areceiverismountedonthestove
pedestal(oneitherside,attherear,facingforward)tosensethesignalfromtheremotecontrol.The
remotecontrolisbatterypowered,andthereceiverrequiresa240vACpowersource.(Instructions
forfittingtheseoptionalthermostatsaresuppliedwiththem.)
LIGHTINGTHEPILOT(ACCmodels):-Note:Toavoidtheriskofbackburning,donotattempttore-
lightthefirelessthanthreeminutesafterithasbeenextinguished.
TheprocedureforlightingthepilotisthesameforallthreeACCversions—
•TurntheHI-LOcontrolknobfullyanti-clockwisetotheHIposition.PushdownandturnthePILOT
controlknobanti-clockwisetothe‘PILOT’position.PressandholdthePILOTcontrolknobdown
firmly.Thebatteryigniterwillgenerateacontinuoussparkacrosstheterminalsatthepilotlight.It
maybenecessarytoholdthecontrolknobdownforsometimebeforethepilotignitesifthereisairin
thepilotlightpipeline.IfthereisnosparkwhenthecontrolknobishelddowninthePILOTposition,
check thebattery inthe ignitionmodule.It ismounted under thecoverof the small black plastic
housingmountedonthebackoftheheater.OneAAalkalinecellisrequired.
•Keepholdingthecontrolknobdownfor15secondsafterthepilotignites.Releasethepressureonthe
controlknob–thepilotshouldremainalightwhentheknobrises.
•Turnthecontrolknobfullyanticlockwisetothe‘ON’position.Notethatthemainburnerwillnotlight
untilatleastthirtysecondsafterthepilotislit.
TURNINGONTHEMAINBURNER(ACCmodels):-
Whennothermostatisfitted–
•Pushdownandturnthecontrolknobfullyanticlockwisetothe‘ON’positionandthefirewilllightat
fullheat.Theremaybeastrongsmellthefirsttimethelogsarefiredbutthiswillsoondisappear.
Whenthewallmountedprogrammablethermostatisfitted–
Firstensurethatgoodbatteries(3xAAalkaline)arefittedinthewallthermostat,thattheslideswitch
behindthehingedbottomcoverissetto‘HEAT’,andthatthetemperaturesettingonthethermostatis
abovetheprevailingroomtemperature.Fulldetailsofthewall-mountedthermostatandprogramming
instructionsaresuppliedwithit.
•Turnthecontrolontheheaterfullyanticlockwisetothe‘ON’positionandthefirewilllightatfullheat.
Theremaybeastrongsmellthefirsttimethelogsarefiredbutthiswillsoondisappear.
WhentheIRRC300portableremotethermostatisfitted–
Firstcheckthatgoodbatteriesarefittedintheremotecontrol.Tofitbatteries(twoAAAalkaline),
slidethecoverbelowthedisplayinthedirectionofthearrowandpullitfurtherinthesamedirection
firmlyuntilitdisengages.Ensurethatthereceiverhasavalid230voltACsupply.
•Movetheswitchonthereceivercontrolbox(attherearofthepedestal)to‘REMOTE’.(Seepage5,
RECEIVERSWITCHPOSITIONS).

•Checkthedisplayontheremotecontrol.Ifitreads‘OFF’,aimtheremotecontroltowardthereceiver
andpressthecentrebuttonontheremotetoswitchitto‘ON’.
Whenthedisplayshows‘ON’,theSETTEMPwillbedisplayedbelowtheROOMTEMP.Forthe
burnertolight,theSETTEMPmustbehigherthantheROOMTEMP.RaisetheSETTEMP,if
necessary,bypressingtherighthandbutton.
•TurnthePILOTcontrolfullyanticlockwisetothe‘ON’positionandthefirewilllightatfullheat.
Theremaybeastrongsmellthefirsttimethelogsarefiredbutthiswillsoondisappear.
•Aftertenminutes,settheHI-LOcontroltogivethedesiredheatoutput.
•Atthisstageyoumayturnonthefanbyrotatingthefanswitchineitherdirection.Theswitchgives
threespeedsandhasan‘OFF’position.NOTE.Thefanisalsocontrolledbyaninternalswitchwhich
willnotpermitittostartuntilthefireishot(abouttenminutesfromcoldonhighfire)andwillkeepit
runningforsometimeafterthefiregoesout.
PROGRAMMINGTHEREMOTECONTROL
Thecontrolcanbeprogrammedtooperatetheheateratadesiredlatertime.Thecontrolsforthisare
under the sliding cover below the display. Programming instructions are in the instruction sheet
suppliedwiththeremotecontrol.
ECSMODELS:-
Thesehavearemotecontrolhandpieceandthermostatconnectingterminalsontherearoftheheater.
Ifthewallthermostatisnotfitted,asmallwirebridgingloopmustbefittedacrosstheseterminalsor
the heater will not light. Ifthe battery operated wall thermostat is fitted, it must be switched to
‘HEAT’(under the bottom hingedcover)and the SET temperature must be above the prevailing
ROOMtemperaturebeforetheheaterwilllight.TheSETtemperaturecanbealteredbypressingthe+
and–buttonsalongsidethedisplay.Ifthereisnodisplay,checkthethermostatbatteries(3xAA
alkaline).
• Toavoidtheriskofbackburning,donotattempttore-lightthefirelessthanthreeminutesafterithas
beenextinguished.
•Checkthatthepowerswitchatthewallis‘ON’andpressthetoproundhandpiecebuttonwhileaiming
thehandpiecetowardthereceiverontherightfrontcornerofthepedestalfoot.Theredindicatorlight
onthehandpieceshouldlightandtheredindicatorlightalongsidethereceiver(onthepedestalfoot)
should lightinresponse andremain alight after thehandpiece buttonis released. If the handpiece
indicatordoesnotlightup,checkthehandpiecebatteries(4xAAAcells).Ifthereceiverindicatordoes
notlight,pressthesmallbuttonalongsidethereceiver(onthepedestalfoot).Ifthereceiverindicator
stilldoesnotlight,pressthered‘RESETbuttononthebackoftheheaterandtryagain.
•Assoonasthereceiverindicatorlights,athirtysecondignitionsequencebegins.Afteraboutthree
secondsfromthestart,therewillbeacontinuoussparkatthepilotelectrodewhichwilllightthepilot.
Whenstartingforthefirsttime,therewillprobablybeairinthepilotlinesupplypipe,soignitionmay
notoccurimmediately.Ifithasnotlitwithinaboutthirtyseconds,thesparkwillcease.Inthisevent,
presstheredRESETbuttononthebackoftheheaterandtrylightingagain.Ifyouneedtopressthe
resetagain,waitatleasttensecondsbeforedoingthis.Ifthereisalotofairinthepipeline,itmaybe
necessarytorepeatthisresetprocedureseveraltimes.
•Whenthepilotlights,theECSsystemshutsdowntheignitionsparkandthenturnsonthegassupply
tothemainburner.Thiswilligniteshortlyafter.
•Oncethemainburnerisalight,thesizeoftheflamecanbeadjustedusingthetoprockerswitchonthe
handpiece.Pressing+increasestheflame.Notethattheresponsetoflameadjustmentmaytakeabout
twentyseconds,sotherockerswitchshouldbehelddownuntiltheflamereachesthedesiredheight.
•Whiletheheaterisbeingswitchedonandoffbythewallthermostat(iffitted),theredindicatorlight
besidethereceiverwillremainalight,showingthattheheaterisreadytolightagainwhentheroom
temperaturefalls.Theflamewilllightatitslastheightsetting.Thepilotlightextinguisheseachtime
theflameextinguishes.
•Ifthemainssupplytotheheaterisswitchedoff,thefirewilllightnexttimeattheLOWflamesetting,
butifthemainssupplyisuninterrupted,theflamewilllightagainatitslastsetting.

•Thelowerrockerswitchonthehandpiececontrolsthefan,switchingitto‘OFF’,‘LOW’,‘MEDIUM’
and‘HIGH’sequentially.NOTE.Thefanisalsocontrolledbyaninternalswitchwhichwillnotpermit
ittostartuntilthefireishot(abouttenminutesfromcoldonhighfire)andwillkeepitrunningafter
thefiregoesout.Thehandpiecewillnotstartthefanduringthewarm-upperiod,butitcanpre-select
thespeedatwhichthefanwillstartoncethefireboxishot.
NOTE:Occasionallytheelectricalsystemmay‘lockup’.Turningoffthemainssupplyfortenseconds
willclearthis.
TURNINGTHEFIREOFF:-
ACCMODELS:-
• Push down and turn the control to the ‘PILOT’ position. Alternatively, models fitted with wall
mountedorportablethermostatsmaybeshutdownatthethermostat.Thepilotwillremainalight.
•Ifthefanisrunning,itwillstopafterthefireboxhascooled.
•Toextinguishthepilotlight,pressthePILOTcontrolknobpartwaydownandturnitfullyclockwise.
ECSMODELS:-
•Tostopthefireimmediately,presstheTOPbuttononthehandpieceonceorpressthesmallbuttonby
thereceiver(onthepedestalfoot)once.Theindicatorlightbythereceiverwillextinguish,thefireand
pilotlightwillshutdownandthefanwillstop.Alternatively,turningoffthemainsplugswitchor
movingtheslideswitchonthewallthermostatawayfrom‘HEAT’willextinguishthefire.
•Tostopthefireafteradelayofabout30minutes,presstheBOTTOMbuttononthehandpiece.The
indicatorlightbesidethereceiverwillstartflashingandeventuallythefirewillshutdown.Pressingthe
delayed stop button again during the shutting down period will restore the heater to normal
continuousoperation.
RECEIVERSWITCHPOSITIONS(ACCmodels)
Thereceiverswitchhasthreepositions,‘OFF’,‘ON’and‘REMOTE’.
‘OFF’preventsthemainburnerfrombeinglit.Thisisausefulsafetyfeatureifchildrenmightplaywiththe
remotecontrol.
‘ON’bypassestheremotecontrolentirely,allowingtheheatertobeliteventhoughthebatteriesinthe
receiverorremotecontrolaredead,or,inthecaseoftheRMTmodel,ifthemainspowersupplyhas
failed.InthissettingthethermostatisinactiveandtheheatoutputisfixedonLOWforRMTmodels.It
maybecontrolledmanuallyonallothermodels.
‘REMOTE’bringstheremotecontrolintofulloperation,allowingitsin-builtthermostattomatchheat
outputtotheheatingneedsoftheareatheremotecontrolisin,providedthattheremotecontrolisleft
pointingtowardtheheater.ForautomaticheatcontrolwithRMTmodels,theremotecontrolmustbe
‘ON’intheAUTO’mode.Theremotecontrolcanbe set toautomaticallyruntheheaterwithinany
desiredtimeperiod.Seetheseparateremotecontroloperatinginstructionsforfulldetails.
CLEANINGINSTRUCTIONS
Theoutsideofthecabinetandglassshouldneednomorethananoccasionalwipewithadampclothto
removeanydustwhichmayhavesettled.
Allvisibleflamegasheaterscanproducesmallamountsofsoot,particularlyifthecombustionairentry
slotsundertheheaterareobstructedortheaerationairinletsarecloggedwithlint.
Afteratime,theinsideoftheglassmayrequirecleaning.Todothis,carefullyremovetheglass(See
GlassRemovalandAssembly,page11),andcleantheinsidesurfacewithanon-abrasiveclothandanon-
scratchingtypehouseholdcleaningliquid.Replacethepartsasdetailedonpage117,keepingfingerprints
offtheinsideglasssurface.
Nootherusermaintenanceshouldbenecessary.Ifyourequireanyotherserviceoradjustments,contact
yourInstallerorDealer.

ALCOVEINSTALLATIONNOTPERMITTED
POSITIONINGTHEHEATER
Selectadrysiteonanyrigidflooringsurface,keepinginmindthefollowing:-
•Acentralpositionfreeofstrongdraughtswillensureevenheatdispersal.
•Checkthattheflueanditsshieldingwillbeabletopassthroughtheceilingspaceandroofwithout
interferingwithanystructuraltimberwork.
•Thefluemustterminateabovetheroofnolessthan500mmclearofanypartoftheroof,andatleast
1metrehorizontallyfromanyneighbouringstructure.
•TheminimumspecifiedclearancedistancestoheatsensitivematerialsMUSTbemaintainedatall
times,andsufficientroomwillbeneededtofacilitateservicingtheheater.
•Avoidpositionswherecurtainsorfurnituremightaccidentallycometooclosetotheheater.
•Select a locationwhere the gas supply can be installed readily. An electrical outlet will also be
required.
INSTALLINGPROCEDURE
GAS.Accesstothegasconnectionpointisobtainedbyremovingthecoverpanelontherearofthecabinet.
(Fourscrews)
ConnectionismadetotheACCmodelsusinga1/2”BSPfitting.TheECSmodelsforAustraliahave1/2”
flarefittings,whiletheECSmodelsforNewZealandhave3/8”flarefittings.
Inallcasesashut-offvalveshouldbeinstalleddirectlybehindtheheatertofacilitateisolationoftheheater
forservicing.
Itisessentialtopurgeallgaslinesbeforemakingtheconnectiontotheheatertoeliminateanyswarf.

THERMOSTATS
ACCModels.Twoaccessoryoptionsareavailable:
•Thehand-heldIRRCModel300non-programmableremotethermostat.
•Thewall-mountedprogrammablethermostat.
Instructionsforinstallingbothoptionsaresuppliedwiththem.
ECSModels.Anoptionalbatterypoweredwall-mountedprogrammablethermostatisavailable.
GASPRESSUREADJUSTMENT.Allpressureadjustmentsmustbemadewhiletheheateris
operatingonthe‘HIGH’setting.
ACCNGandACCLP.Thesehaveapressureregulatorinsidethecontrolvalve.Therearetwotestpoints
sidebysideontopofthecontrolvalve–theoutletpressuretestpointistheoneclosertotheflamesize
controlknob.Ifadjustmentisnecessary,uncouplethecontrolrodfromthetopoftheflamesizecontrol
knob,extractthescrewfromdownthecentreofthisknobandpulltheknoboffvertically.Thepressureis
thensetbyrotatingtheknurledplasticwheelexposedbyremovingtheknob.Oncethepressureiscorrect
(0.95kPaforNGor2.5kPaforLP),caremustbetakennottoturntheplasticwheelastheknobisre-
fittedinitsmaximumanti-clockwiseposition.Thispositionissetwhentheskirtoftheknobcontactingthe
adjacent metal up-stand. Rotate the knob clockwise and then fully anti-clockwise while observing the
pressuretoverifythatitiscorrectbeforereplacingtheretainingscrewandre-couplingthecontrolrod.
ECSNGandECSLP.Thesealsohaveapressureregulatorinthecontrolvalve.Theoutletpressuretest
pointisonthetopofthecontrolvalveandistheoneremotefromthegasinletconnection.Therearetwo
pressuresettingstoadjust,highandlow.Accesstotheadjustersisgainedbyfirstremovingtheheatshield
abovethevalveandthen removing theprotectivetransparent capat the very top of the control valve
modulatingcoil.Thiswillexposethecentral screw(lowpressureadjuster)anda10mmhexagonalnut
surrounding it (high pressure adjuster). Note that the modulating coil may be rotated through 90° if
necessarytoprovideeasieraccessforpressureadjustments.Beforeadjustingthehighpressure,thefire
mustbealightandburningatthe‘HIGH’setting.(Holddownthe+endofthetoprockerswitchonthe
handpiecefor30secondstoensurethis).
Setthehighpressurefirst.NGhighpressureshouldbe0.95kPaandLPhighpressureshouldbe2.3kPa.
Adjust,ifnecessary,byrotatingthe10mmnut,screwingdowntoincreasethepressureanduptodecrease
it.
Beforesettingthelowpressure,removeoneofthebluewiresconnectedtothetopofthemodulatingcoil.
Thereisnoneedtoalterthehandpiececontrolsetting.Adjustthelow pressurebyrotatingthecentral
Phillipsheadscrew,takingcarenottoshiftthepositionofthealreadyadjusted10mmhex.nut.Screw
downtoincreasethepressure.Thecorrectlowpressuresare1.0kPaforLPand0.40kPaforNG.
Replacetheprotectivecapontopoftheadjusters,re-fitthebluewiretothemodulatingcoil,rotatethe
assemblyabovethecoiltoitsoriginalpositionandre-fittheheatshieldabovethevalve.
FAN
ACCMODELS. These haveaThermodischeat operated switch incorporated in the fan wiring circuit to
preventthefanfromrunninguntilthefireboxhasreachedareasonableworkingtemperature.Itwillnotbe
possibletocheckthefanoperationuntilabouttenminutesafterthefirehasbeenliton‘HIGH’.Whenthis
timehaselapsed,checktheoperationofthefanonallspeedsettings.Verifycorrectoperation.
ECSMODELS.ThesehaveaThermodiscalso(seeaboveparagraph).Oncethefireboxhasheatedup,check
thefanoperationbypressingthelowerrockerswitchonthehandpiece.Pressingthe+endrepeatedlywill
increasethespeedthroughallfourfanspeedsettings(threespeedsandoff),whilepressingthe–endwill
stepitdownthroughthespeeds.Verifycorrectoperation.
FLUE.USEONLYANAPPROVEDFLUESYSTEM.
NOTE.Forsafeoperation,thefluemustneverbelessthan900mmlong.
1.Standtheheaterinitsproposedposition,takingcaretoobservetheminimumclearancesshownonpage
7.Theheaterdoesnotrequireafloorprotector(hearth).
2. Drop aplumb-bobfrom theceilingto hang centrally intheflue socketof the heater and mark the
positionontheceiling.Driveasmallnailthroughatthispointandinspecttheceilingandrooftoensure
thattheflueanditstrimwillbeatleast25mmclearofanycombustiblematerial.Thefluetermination
requirementsstatedin3belowwillalsoneedtobemet.

3.Cutappropriateholesthroughtheceilingandroofmaterialandinstalltheflueinaccordancewiththe
instructionsaccompanyingit,takingcaretoprovideanysafetyclearancesspecifiedintheinstructions
(usually25mmbetweentheflueshieldandanynearbycombustiblematerial).Theinstallationmustmeet
therequirementsofAS5601(AG601)orNZS5261asappropriate.Thetopofthefluemustbeabove
the roof, at least 500mm clear of any part of the roof and at least 1 metre horizontally from any
neighbouringstructure.Allfluesectionsmustbesecurelycoupledtoeachother.
4.Flashtheflueatthepointofexitthroughtheroof,topreventwaterentry,andfitthefluecowl.
Itistheresponsibilityoftheinstallertoensurethatthefluesystemisoperatingcorrectly.See
‘TESTFIRING’below.
EMBERPLACEMENT
SEISMICRESTRAINT
NewZealandregulationsrequirethatfluedgasheatersbesecuredtopreventshiftingintheeventofan
earthquake.Thisisbestdonebyfasteningtheheatertothefloorrightthroughthefloorprotectorifoneis
fitted.Fastenwithtwoscrewsnotlessthan12gaugeortheequivalentincoachscrewsortogglefasteners.
Anchor the appliance through the holes in the seismic restraint bracket or in the two angle brackets
supplied.Theanglebracketsattachateachsideofthepedestal.Iftheseismicrestraintbracketisused,it
can be fastened to the rear of the pedestal either before or after fitting the anchor screws. The small
centrelineholeinthebracketwillhelpinpre-positioningit.

TESTFIRING
Itisabsolutelyessentialthattheinstallertestfirestheheaterbeforeleavingthesite.
Iffitted,openthegassupplyvalveattherearoftheheaterandcheckallgasjointsforleakageusingaleak
checksolutionoranelectronic‘sniffer’,NOTanakedflame.
Testfiretheheater,followingthelightinginstructionsonpages2,3and4ofthismanual.

Usingtheappropriateprocedureasdetailedfortheheatermodel,lightthemainburnertoverifysatisfactory
ignitionandcross-lighting.Repeatthisprocedureseveraltimes.Alwayswaittwoorthreeminutesafter
turningoffthemainburnerbeforelightingitagain.Themainburnershouldbetestrunforatleastten
minutes.
AfterthefirehasbeenalightforfiveminutesonHIGH’,holdasmokingtaperormatchattheexitofthe
draughthood(behindtheheater)toverifythattheflueisdrawingcorrectlyandthatfluegasesarenot
spillingintotheroom.

Ifawallmountedorremotethermostatisfitted,verifythethermostatactionbyturningthesettemperature
aboveandbelowtheroomambienttemperaturetocheckthattheburnerturnsonandoffautomatically.
Handheldremotethermostatsmustpointtowardthereceiverforeffectiveoperation.
Ifafanisfitted,checkitsoperationatallspeeds.
Ifsatisfactoryoperationcannotbeachieved,contacttheRetailerforfurtheradvice.
IMPORTANT.Itistheresponsibilityoftheinstallertoinstructthecustomeronthesafeand
correctoperationoftheappliance,andtoensurethatthisinstructionbookletremainswith
thecustomer.

MAINTENANCEINSTRUCTIONS
Maintenancemustbecarriedoutonlybyauthorisedpersonnel.
Minoradjustmentscanbemadewiththeheaterinitsnormaloperatingposition,butitwillbe foundmore
convenienttomovetheheaterawayfromthewallformajorwork.
Ifitisnecessarytomovetheheater:-
•Shutoffthegassupplyatthevalvebehindtheheater.
•Removetheaccessplateontherearofthecabinet.
•Disconnectthegaslineattheheater.
•Liftthefluetrimabout75mmandsupportitwithawoodenblock.
•Slackenanyflueclamp,andliftthefluewhilemovingtheheaterfrombeneathit.
•Slidetheheaterawayfromthewall,supportingtheflueandtrimonasuitablespacer.
•Keeptheheateruprightatalltimestoavoiddisplacingthelogs.Thecorrectgas-logpositionsare
shownbelow.
ACCESSPOINTS
1.THECABINETREARCOVERPLATE.Thisgivesaccesstothegasentryconnectionandtherearof
thegascontrolvalve.
2.THECABINETRIGHTHANDSIDEPANEL.Theentirepanelcanberemovedtogiveeasyaccess
tothecontrolvalve.Toremoveit,firstwithdrawtwoscrewsunderitsbottomflange(oneatthefront
andtheotherattherearofthepanel).Pullthelowerendofthesidepanelawayfromtheheateruntilit
is clear ofitsmounting and thenlower the panel until the two locating pegs on its upper flange
disengagefromthecabinet.Liftitclear.
3.THEGLASS.Seepage11forremovalinstructions.Accessisthenavailableforthelogassembly,the
pilotlight,igniterpointsandflamesafetysensorandthemainburner.
4.THEENTIRECABINETmayberemovedifaccesstotheheatexchangerisnecessary.Firstremove
theglassandthecabinetrighthandsidepanel,thefan,thedraughtdiverterhoodandtherearcover
plate.Thecabinetisretainedbyfivescrewsfromunderneath,threescrewsattherearandtwoscrews
oneachfrontverticaledgeofthefirebox.

GLASSREMOVALANDASSEMBLY
Carryouttheseproceduresonlywhiletheheaterisstandingupright.
1.Removethelouvrebyliftingitupwardsandoutwards.
2.Removethedressguard,iffitted.
3.Removetwofasteningscrewssecuringthetopglasstrim.
4.Priseforwardthetopglasstrimandliftitclear.Note.Thiswillreleasethetopedgesoftheleftand
rightglassretainers.
5.Lifttheglassretainerstoremovethem,keepingahandontheglasstoensurethatitdoesnotfall
forward.
6.Lifttheglassclear.
7.Assemblyisthereverseoftheabove.Cleantheinsidesurfaceoftheglassandkeepfingerprintsoffit
asitisre-assembled.
8.Placetheglassinposition,notingthatthebottomedgeoftheglasshasnogasket.
9.Replacetheleftandrightglassretainers,fittingtheirlowerendsbehindthebottomglasstrim.
10.Slidethetopglasstrimintoplace,makingsurethetopendsofthesideglassretainersarecaptured.
Fititstwofasteningscrewsandrefitthelouvre.
REMOVINGTHEBURNERS
1.Removetheglass(seeabove).
2.Liftthefrontandtoplogsoutcarefully,butleavetherearloginposition.
3.Insidethefirebox,removethesecondaryaircovers,oneateachendofthefrontburner.(2screwsfor
eachcover)
4.Ifitisfitted,removetheflameguideplatewhichcoverspartofthefrontburner.
5.Removethetwofrontburnerretainingscrewsandliftouttheburnerbyraisingtheendoppositethe
injector(thelefthandend)first,andmovingtheburnertothelefttodisengageitfromtheinjector.
6.Usethesameproceduretoremovetherearburner.

ROUTINEMAINTENANCESCHEDULE
WerecommendthatyouhaveyourMasportheaterservicedyearlybyanAuthorisedTechnician.This
periodicmaintenanceshouldcoverthefollowingpoints:-
1.Replacethebatteryintheignitermodule(ACCmodelsonly).Accessthebatterybypullingopenthe
batterycoveroftheblackplasticmodulemountedontherearof theheater. OneAA alkalinecell
required.
2.Cleanallairentrypointssuchasprimaryandsecondaryairinletpassages.
3.Cleanthemaininjectorjetholes.
4.Cleanawayanycarbonbuild-upfromthepilotandigniterelectrodes.
5.Cleanthefan(iffitted)ofanylintorforeignmatter.
6.Aftertheabovesteps,checktheoperationofthepilot,theburnersandthecontrolvalvebylightingthe
fire.
7.Checktheoperationofthethermostat(iffitted)byturningthesettemperatureaboveandbelowthe
ambientroomtemperatureandcheckingtheresponseofthefire.
Otherpointswhichcanbecheckedaftercompletingtheaboveare:-
1.Thermocouplegeneration.
2.Gasconsumptionrate.
3.Carbondioxidecontentinthecombustionproducts.
4.Theflueoperation.
Note:Toensuresatisfactoryperformance,allcomponentsfittedshouldbegenuineMasport
spareparts.
FIREBOXPAINTFINISH
Theinteriorofthefireboxissubjecttoextremelyhighflametemperatures.Whilstthepaintedsurfaceis
designedforhightemperaturedurability,thecombustionconditionscancausedeteriorationofthepaint
finish.ThisisnotuniquetoMasportgasfires.Ifthesurfacediscoloursorblisters,simplyscuffanyloose
paintfromthefireboxandlightlyre-spraywithMasporthightemperaturepaint.
