How to prepare the oven for steam
cooking
For steam cooking it is essential
to fill the water tank.
To fill it, pull out the water loading draw
(
follow the instructions on page 17)
and pour
water into the tank with a graduated jug (Fig.
21) until the
“tank full” light comes on.
Remember that the water tank can be refilled
with little more than 800 cc of water.
Close the drawer. At this point the oven is
ready for steam cooking.
If you pour too much water into
the tank, a safety outlet will pour
it back into the bottom of the
oven.
Dry this excess water with a sponge
or cloth (Fig. 22).

Advice and suggestions for steam
cooking
Be sure not to cover the pots with lids, this
would make it impossible for the steam
to come into contact with the food.
You can cook your dishes directly on the
grill (Fig. 24). In this case remember to
pour a little water into the drip-tray and
to slide it into position beneath the grill.
The drip-tray will collect the fats melted
during cooking, and the water prevents
the fats from burning and producing
unpleasant odours or smoke.
If you wish to open the door to check the
cooking process, remember to
disconnect the STEAM function . After
you have checked the food, close the door
and select the steam cooking function
once more.
For steam cooking, proceed as
follows:
1. Before every steam cooking, fill the tank
as shown on page 17. The amount of
800 cc (0,8 lt) of water is enough for
about 40/45 of cooking time.
2. Then prepare the food in pots suitable
to be used in the oven, position them on
the shelf (Fig. 23) at the height suggested
in the cooking tables. The 2° level from
the bottom usually gives the best results.
3. Select the “steam” function
4. Select a temperature between 130°C
and 230°C. Remember that above
230°C steam cooking does not give
very good results.
5. Empty the water tank after every steam
cooking following the emptying procedure
described on page 35.
Wait at least 30 minute after
every steam cooking in order to
avoid hot water exit from water
outlet valve.
Fig. 23
)
How to use steam cooking
The possible formation of conden-
sate on the oven door glass, walls
and bottom does not affect oven
operation.
We recommend you to wipe away
condensation after each use of the
oven.
Take care when opening the
oven door as the steam will
immediately pour out.
Fig. 24
Steam starts to develop when
the oven reaches the set tempe-
rature.
20 electrolux
The accessories for steam cooking (available
for purchase in a separate kit) offer the
opportunity to expand the field of steam
cooking, allowing you, for example, to
experiment with specific ways of cooking
vegetables, fish, etc.
The accessories include:
- a dietary baking-pan consisting of two
half-shells made out of special glass with
a recess for the passage of a steam injector
(Fig.25);
- a small grill to place inside the dietary
baking pan to keep the food raised;
- 2 injectors for steam cooking;
- a special steam cooking probe with two
different injectors to be used as shown in
figures 25 and 26, by inserting them in the
probe.
Fig. 25
Accessories for steam cooking
Steam cooking in the dietary baking dish is
particularly suited for vegetables: it heightens
the flavours without watering them down
and maintains the nutrient properties of the
foods intact.
Direct vapour cooking (Fig. 26) which uses
the perforated injector is ideal for chickens
and turkeys. The flesh is cooked on the inside
thanks to the vapour while on the outside it
browns through traditional cooking, and ends
up being delicate, soft and very tasty. The
holes in the injector must not be blocked; this
is why the injector must always be placed
inside the empty part of the chicken and
turkey, as shown in Fig. 26.
Fig. 26
Fit the end of the probe with the metal
element into the steam outlet. Insert
the two injectors into the other end
of the probe.
