SanDisk 128 GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive Operating instructions

  • Hello! I've read the user manual for the SanDisk Ultra Fit 128 GB USB flash drive and I'm ready to help. The document explains that the transfer speed depends on your host device's capabilities and the drive may heat up during large transfers. I'm here to answer your questions about these and any other points covered in the manual.
  • Why is my transfer speed slow?
Is it normal for the drive to get hot?

Troubleshooting:
a. The transfer speed of a storage product can greatly be affected by the host device. If a host device
such as a camera can only achieve for example a 20MB/s write speed, placing a card with a 90MB/s
write speed in the camera will NOT improve the performance of the camera. The card WILL be limited to
the write speed provided by the host. When shopping for a storage device, it is best to look at the
performance specifications of the host and choose an equivalent storage device.
b. An increase in drive temperature is also normal if using the flash drive to transfer large files or
multiple files. Large file transfers may take an extended period of time to complete and can require
more energy than a small file transfer. Multiple file transfers that are completed over a short period of
time can generate a similar amount of energy. During these drive operations, the interior temperature
of the drive increases and the drive will release more heat through the drive's exterior in order to
complete the data transfer.
