IN-BOX 20 LCR InWall Enclosure
Instruction Manual
IMPORTANT NOTE: The installation bracket is pre-installed in this InWall enclo-
sure which is designed for installation in new construction. It has been designed
to be installed
before
the wall board is applied. This enclosure is intended for
vertical mounting. If it is to be used horizontally, the wall framing will have to be
modified. There must be a minimum depth behind the wall face of 3 1/2 (90mm)
for problem free installation.
This enclosure provides the correct volume to optimize the performance of the
System 20 LCR. The enclosure also provides moderate isolation of sound for the
room adjacent to the speakers.
The correct amount of acoustic material is pre-installed in the enclosure and
should be left as is within the enclosure. Please do not compact the material or
add more damping material.
Installing the Enclosure
The enclosure is designed to fit between standard 2” X 4” studs mounted on 16
inch centers. With some modification to the stud framing it can also be installed
between studs mounted on 24 inch centers. In all cases the front face of the
enclosure must be kept flush with the front face of the studs. For studs mounted
on 24 inch centers you may either install the L brackets on only one side of the
enclosure and mount that side to the adjacent stud. Alternatively, you may frame
out from one or both studs to locate the enclosure where ever you desire and
then attach as detailed below.
1. Remove the enclosure from the box by opening the end of the box and turning
it over on a soft surface. Simply slide the box off the enclosure.
2. Find the parts bag and check to be sure it includes 4 steel “L brackets and 16
wood screws.
3. Determine the speaker’s location based upon the information in the System 20
LCR owners manual.
4. Screw one leg of each L bracket to the top and bottom corners of the enclosure
keeping the other “leg” flush with the side edges of the enclosure.
Please see Fig. 1.
5. Place the enclosure within the stud cavity, being careful to keep the front edge
of the enclosure even with the front edge of the studs.
Be absolutely certain that
it is plumb and level as this cannot be adjusted later.
6. Screw the free leg of each L bracket to the adjacent stud.
7. Drill a hole in the stud and through the side of the enclosure for the feed wires.
For optimum performance caulk this hole when you’re done installing the wires.
After the wall board is installed you may install the System 20 LCR according to
the directions included with the speaker.
