Getting started
To wake up your screen: Press Power/End
To dismiss Keyguard: Press Center
To turn your phone on: Press and hold Power/End

Phone Takes you to the onscreen Dial Pad, where
you can dial by touchscreen or by keypad.
Calendar Opens your Calendar so you can view your
day, week, or month at a glance. Synchronize with
Microsoft Outlook

or other desktop programs to stay
on top of your schedule.
5-way navigator Designed for one-handed operation,
so you can navigate quickly through applications and
menus without using the stylus or touchscreen.
Send Dials the number you entered.
Power/End Turns the phone on and off and
ends a call.
Applications Opens Applications View where you
can view and open all of the applications on your
smartphone. Select applications using the 5-way
navigator or touchscreen.
Wireless Sync Opens your Wireless Sync Inbox.
Or reassign the button so you can send or read
text messages.
Menu Opens the menus for fast and easy, one-handed
control. Menu options instantly pop onto the screen so
there’s no need to memorize commands.

Managing calls
To make a call from Contacts:
Type the initials of a person you want to dial,
highlight the number, and press Send.
To create a speed-dial favorite:
From the Phone applications Main View,
highlight and select a blank speed-dial button,
select Lookup, and then enter the contacts phone
number. To add extra digits, such as an extension
or password, select More.
To put a call on Speakerphone
Select Spkr-phone using the 5-way or the touchscreen.
To silence all sounds, including music:
Set the Ringer switch to Sound Off.
To adjust the volume while a call is in progress:
Press the Volume button on the side of your smartphone.
To ignore an incoming call and send it to voicemail:
Press Power/End.
To respond with a text message when you cant
take a call:
Select Ignore with Text on the touchscreen.
To redial the last number:
Press and hold Send in the Phone applications Main View.
Did you know?
You can disable the touchscreen while you are on a call so you dont disrupt
your call by inadvertently touching the screen. Press Applications, select
Preferences, and then select Keyguard. Check the On a call box.
Did you know?
You can get directions to a contacts address. Open a contact that you want
directions for. Select Map and then tap the location indicated on the map.
Select To, enter your starting location, and then select OK. When the route
summary appears, select OK to view the directions. Tap the next arrow on the
touchscreen to go to the next step in the directions. To go back a step, tap the
previous arrow.
Sending messages
To address an email or text message to
multiple recipients:
Separate names with a semicolon.
To access predened phrases when
text messaging:
Select the QuickText button.
To include emoticons in a text message:
Select the emoticons button.
To view the next or previous message
within your VersaMail
®
Inbox:
Tap the scroll arrows at the top of the screen.
Browsing the web
To jump to the URL bar while in the web application:
Press the space bar on the keyboard.
To follow a link to another web page:
Highlight the link; then press Center to go
to the selected page.
To view the previous web page:
Select the Back icon, or press Backspace
on the keyboard.
To save an image from a web page:
Tap and hold the stylus on the image.
Moving around
To jump to Calculator in Applications View:
Press C.
To bring up a menu of additional options
inside an application (such as Contacts):
Press Menu.
To create a new event in Calendar:
Press Menu + N.
To delete an item in Tasks:
Press Menu + D.
To type common symbols, such as _, ©, %, ®:
Press the dash key (Options + s) then press Alt,
and use the 5-way to select the character.
To type an accented letter (e.g., à or À):
Press the corresponding letter (e.g., a or A)
followed by Alt.
To type other currency symbols:
Press Option + $ + Alt.
To dial a phone number or send an email from
inside a message or web page:
Select the link.
To quickly scroll between multiple pages:
Press and hold Up or Down on the 5-way.
Did you know?
You can quickly access recently used applications. Press and hold Applications
from any screen on your smartphone to select from a list of your most recently
used applications.
