INSTRUCTIONS!
Quick Start
First of all, charge up the Controller. Simply connect the Charger to the controller with
the supplied cable. The Charger can fast-charge EarGear in around an hour. The green
light is lit when charging, and goes off when the battery is full.
ĥ Please note you can’t use EarGear whilst its charging!
Next, you might want to add or change the covers on EarGear. Please see the separate
page that shows you how to do this.
ĥ Please dont put anything inside the cup of the ear, where the tiny motors live.
Its really important that you keep this space free of fur and ngers!
Connect the Controller to EarGear with the cable provided. It doesn’t matter which end
goes in which socket.
ĥ You can actually use any network cable up to 2m! Great for different outts.
EarGear
Now switch on the Controller and EarGear may do a little twitch depending on how it
was left previously. The orange light will start blinking. Its ready to connect to the app.
Now download the app from the Google Play Store, or Apple iOS Store and start it up.
There’s a little button that says “Connect to Gear” – just tap that, and it will nd EarGear
using the magic of Bluetooth. You don’t need to “Pair” with EarGear, just use the App to
connect. The orange blinking light goes solid orange when connected!
Now you can make them move by pressing on EarGear move buttons. You can also add
EarGear to Casual Mode, switch on Listen Mode, and lots of other things!
ĥ When EarGear is running low on batteries, the app’s battery gauge will ash. The
Orange LED on the Controller will also blink to let you know. Time to charge!
To switch off the Controller, press the power button for about 3 seconds. EarGear will
power off automatically if its unused after 5 minutes, to save power.
IMPORTANT!
Never move the ears manually, by pushing or twisting them. Always use the app
to control them. If you push them yourself, you risk breaking the electronics
inside.
Please don’t connect any other device to the port on the Controller. Its not a
network socket although it looks like one! You will damage the insides if you do!
Putting on the Covers
Covers slip over the ears. Make sure the covers are nicely seated down over the each
ear. Pull them down, so they are fully over the ear. If you leave the covers too high,
some of the moves might be lost inside the fur, or the ear might not be able to move.
Remember, if something is blocking the ears from turning, you might damage them.
So be sure to keep the area beneath each ear clear of fur!
Listening Mode
If you would like EarGear to react
to sound, the rst thing to do is to
position the controller somewhere the
mics can hear. Inside a jacket is not so
good – but clipped on the outside of a
pocket is great.
The microphones are mounted on
the side of the case. Be careful not to
press on them, or puncture them!
Using the app, switch on Listening Mode, and let the app know if your controller is
placed infront of you, or behind you.
Then watch your ears twitch and turn as sounds happen around the ears.
ĥ In Listening Mode, EarGear is constantly measuring sounds, and guessing whether
to move the left, right, or both ears. Because it can be quite draining on the battery,
it will stop listening after 5 minutes.
