Your remote control is wirelessly con-
nected to the Vitotronic boiler control
unit.
The commissioning and adjusting of the
Vitotronic control unit to local conditions
and to building characteristics, plus the
instruction of the user in operating the
system, must be carried out by your
heating contractor.
The settings made at the Vitotronic con-
trol unit are transferred to the remote
control during commissioning.
Factory setting for the Vitotronic control unit
The Vitotronic control unit is factory-set
to "Heating and DHW".
Central heating
Between 06:00 and 22:00 h, rooms
are heated to 20 °C (room temperature
for standard heating mode).
Between 22:00 and 06:00 h, frost pro-
tection monitoring is enabled for the
boiler and DHW cylinder (room tem-
perature for reduced heating mode:
3 °C).
Your heating contractor can make fur-
ther adjustments for you during com-
missioning.
You can change any settings individu-
ally at any time to suit your require-
ments (see chapter "Central heating"
from page 18).
DHW heating
Between 05:30 and 22:00 h, the DHW
is heated to 50 °C. Any installed DHW
circulation pump is on.
Between 22:00 and 05:30 h, the DHW
cylinder will not be reheated. Any
installed DHW circulation pump is off.
Your heating contractor can make fur-
ther adjustments for you during com-
missioning.
You can change any settings individu-
ally at any time to suit your require-
ments (see chapter "DHW heating"
from page 26).
Wintertime/summertime changeover
This changeover is automatic.
Power failure
All data is saved if there is a power
failure.

To provide you with a better understand-
ing of the functions of your remote con-
trol unit, the appendix contains a chapter
entitled "Terminology".
Tips on saving energy
Use the setting options offered by the
remote control:
Try not to overheat your rooms; you
can save up to 6 % on your heating
bills for every degree you reduce your
room temperature.
Never set your room temperature
higher than 20 °C (see page 19).
Never set the DHW temperature too
high (see page 26).
Only activate the DHW circulation
pump when DHW is drawn off. Set the
time program for this (see page 29).
Select the operating program that
meets your current requirements:
For short absences (e.g. shopping
trips), select "Economy mode"
(see page 23).
As long as economy mode is activa-
ted, the room temperature is
reduced.
If you are going away, set the "Hol-
iday program" (see page 24).
As long as the holiday program is
activated, the room temperature is
reduced and DHW heating is off.
In summer, if you don't want to heat
any rooms but do need DHW, select
the operating program "Only
DHW" (see page 26).
If you do not want to heat any rooms
and require no hot water for a pro-
longed period of time, select
"Standby mode" (see page 22).
Further recommendations:
Correct ventilation/airing.
Briefly open windows fully and at the
same time close the thermostatic
valves.
Close roller shutters (if installed) at
dusk.
Set thermostatic valves correctly.
Never cover radiators or thermostatic
valves.
Controlled DHW consumption: A
shower generally uses less energy
than a full bath.

The Vitotrol 300 RF remote control can
also be taken out of its table-top dock or
wall mounting bracket and used to make
adjustments.
"Mobile test location" appears on the
display.
The room temperature sensor built into
the Vitotrol 300 RF captures the temper-
ature.
While you are holding the
Vitotrol 300 RF in your hands, for exam-
ple, the displayed room temperature
begins to rise (actual room temperature,
see page 12).
However, the Vitotronic control unit oper-
ates on the basis of the room tempera-
ture value that it received before the
Vitotrol 300 RF was removed from its
holder.
If the Vitotrol 300 RF has been out of its
holder for 5 min and has not been used,
an acoustic signal will sound every 30 s.
However, if the remote control is used
during this time, the time counter is
reset.
Once you have finished using the
Vitotrol 300 RF, return it to its table-top
dock or wall mounting bracket.
This ensures that the batteries are
always charged.
The Vitotrol 300 RF enables the follow-
ing adjustments to be made from the liv-
ing space:
Standard room temperature
Reduced room temperature
DHW temperature
Operating and holiday program
Time phases for central heating
Time phases for DHW heating
Time phases for the DHW circulation
pump (if installed)
Date and time
All other settings are transferred from the
Vitotrol 300 RF to the Vitotronic control
unit and vice-versa. The most recent
adjustments always apply to the relevant
heating circuit.

If you want central heating, check the
following points:
Have you selected the heating circuit?
For settings, see page 12 or the next
chapter.
Have you set the required room tem-
perature?
For settings, see page 12 or 19.
Have you selected the correct operat-
ing program?
For settings, see page 12 or 20.
Have you set the required time pro-
gram?
For settings, see page 13.
Selecting a heating circuit
Heating can, if necessary, be split over
several heating circuits.
If you are using your remote control to
control several heating circuits, for all
central heating settings, first select
the heating circuit for which you want
to make a change.
If you are only controlling one heating
circuit, this option is not available.
Example:
"Heating circuit 1" is the heating cir-
cuit for the rooms occupied by you.
"Heating circuit 2" is the heating cir-
cuit for the rooms of a separate apart-
ment.
Note
In the factory setting, the heating circuits
are designated "Heating circuit 1"
"Heating circuit 2" and "Heating cir-
cuit 3".

week from 06:00 to 22:00 h for rooms to
be heated to 20 °C (room temperature
for standard heating mode).
The time program for central heating is
made up of 1 to 4 time phases.
In the Extended menu, you can scan
the current time program under "Infor-
mation" (see page 35).

phase. Between these time phases,
the rooms are heated to the reduced
room temperature (see page 19).
