IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS
1. Before beginning any exercise program,
consult your physician. This is especially
important for persons over the age of 35 or
persons with pre-existing health problems.
2. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure
that all users of the exercise cycle are ade-
quately informed of all precautions.
3. Your exercise cycle is intended for home use
only. Do not use your exercise cycle in a
commercial, rental, or institutional setting.
4. Keep your exercise cycle indoors, away from
moisture and dust. Place your exercise cycle
on a level surface, with a mat beneath it to
protect the floor or carpet. Make sure that
there is at least 2 ft. (0.6 m) of clearance
around your exercise cycle.
5. Inspect and properly tighten all parts regu-
larly. Replace any worn parts immediately.
6. Keep children under age 12 and pets away
from your exercise cycle at all times.
7. Your exercise cycle should not be used by
persons weighing more than 250 lbs.
(113 kg).
8. Wear appropriate exercise clothes while
exercising; do not wear loose clothes that
could become caught on your exercise
cycle. Always wear athletic shoes for foot
protection while exercising.
9. When adjusting the seat, insert the seat pin
into one of the holes in the seat post. Do not
insert the seat pin under the seat post.
10. The pulse sensor is not a medical device.
Various factors may affect the accuracy of
heart rate readings. The pulse sensor is
intended only as an exercise aid in determin-
ing heart rate trends in general.
11. Keep your back straight while using your
exercise cycle; do not arch your back.
12. When you stop exercising, allow the pedals
to slowly come to a stop.
13. If you feel pain or dizziness while exercising,
stop immediately and cool down.
14. Use your exercise cycle only as described in
this manual.

features designed to let you enjoy this healthful exer-
cise in the convenience and privacy of your home.
For your benefit, read this manual carefully before
you use the exercise cycle. If you have questions

model number and serial number before contacting

ASSEMBLY
Assembly requires two persons. Place all parts of the exercise cycle in a cleared area and remove the pack-
ing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed.
Assembly requires only the included tool(s).

1. While a second person lifts the rear of the
Frame (B), attach the Rear Stabilizer (A) with
two M8 x 70mm Bolts (C), two M8 Curved
Washers (D), and two Domed Nuts (E).
2. Orient the Front Stabilizer (F) as shown.
While a second person lifts the front of the
Frame (B), attach the Front Stabilizer (F) with
two M8 x 60mm Bolts (G), two M8 Curved
Washers (not shown), and two Domed Nuts (not
shown).

4. Set the Seat Carriage (K) in the bracket on the
Seat Post (I). Tighten the Seat Carriage Knob
(L) into the underside of the Seat Carriage.
5. Slide the Seat (M) onto the post on the Seat
Carriage (K). Tighten the Seat Clamp Nuts (N)
on the Seat firmly around the post on the Seat
Carriage.
3. Loosen the Seat Post Knob (H). Pull the Seat
Post Knob outward and insert the Seat Post (I)
into the Frame (B).
Adjust the Seat Post (I) to the desired height
a
nd then release the Seat Post Knob (H) into
one of the adjustment holes in the Seat Post.
Tighten Seat Post Knob and then tighten the
Lock Knob (J). Make sure that the Seat Post
Knob is firmly engaged in one of the adjust-
ment holes in the Seat Post.

7. Tip: Avoid pinching the wires. Loosen the
Upright Knob (R). Pull the Upright Knob out-
ward and insert the Upright (O) into the Frame
(B).
Adjust the Upright (O) to the desired height and
then release the Upright Knob (R) into one of
the adjustment holes in the Upright. Tighten the
Upright Knob and then tighten the Lock Knob
(J). Make sure that the Upright Knob is firmly
engaged in one of the adjustment holes in
the Upright.
6. While another person holds the Upright (O)
near the Frame (B) as shown, connect the
Upper Wire (P) to the Lower Wire (Q).

10. The Console (X) requires two AA batteries (not
included); alkaline batteries are recommended.
Remove the battery cover, insert the batteries
into the battery compartment, and reattach the
battery cover. Make sure to orient the batter-
ies as shown by the diagram inside the bat-
tery compartment. Do not combine old and
new batteries or alkaline and rechargeable
batteries.

8. Orient the Handlebar (S) as shown.
Set the Handlebar (S) inside the Handlebar

lamp (T). Adjust the Handlebar to the desired
position and then close the Handlebar Clamp.
9. Place the Handlebar Cover (U) over the
Handlebar Clamp (T). Then, tighten the
Handlebar Knob (V) with the Spacer (W) into
the Handlebar Clamp.

11. Slide the Console (X) onto the Console Bracket
(
Y).
12. Attach the Console (X) with two Console
Screws (Z).
13. Plug the Upper Wire (P) into the input jack on
the right side of the Console (X). Plug the Pulse
Wire (AA) into the pulse jack on the left side of
the Console.

14. Identify the Right Pedal (BB), which is marked
w
ith an “R.” Firmly tighten the Right Pedal
clockwise
into the right arm of the Crank (CC).
Tighten the Left Pedal (not shown)
counter-
clockwise
into the left arm of the Crank.
IMPORTANT: Tighten the pedals as firmly as
p
ossible. After using the exercise cycle for
one week, retighten the pedals. For best per-
formance, keep the pedals tightened.
15. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the exercise cycle. Note: After assembly
is completed, some extra parts may be left over. Place a mat beneath the exercise cycle to protect the floor.

HOW TO ADJUST THE SEAT POST
For effective exercise, the seat should be at the prop-
er height. As you pedal, there should be a slight bend
in your knees when the pedals are in the lowest posi-
tion.
To adjust the height of the seat, first loosen the lock
knob and the seat post knob. Next, pull the seat post
knob and slide the seat post upward or downward to
the desired height. Next, release the seat post knob
into one of the adjustment holes in the seat post.
Then, tighten the seat post knob and the lock knob.
Make sure that the seat post knob is inserted into
one of the adjustment holes in the seat post.
HOW TO ADJUST THE SEAT CARRIAGE
To adjust the position of the seat carriage, first loosen
the seat carriage knob. Move the seat carriage for-
ward or backward to the desired position, and then
firmly tighten the seat carriage knob.
HOW TO ADJUST THE SEAT
You can adjust the angle and position of the seat to the
position that is most comfortable. The correct angle for
your seat is a matter of personal preference. Begin by
adjusting the seat so that the top of the seat is parallel
to the ground. Tip: It may be helpful to use a level
when you adjust the angle of the seat.
To adjust the seat, loosen the nuts on the seat clamp a
few turns, tilt the seat upward or downward to the
d
esired position, and then retighten the nuts.
HOW TO ADJUST THE UPRIGHT
To adjust the position of the upright, first loosen the
lock knob and the upright knob. Next, pull the upright
knob and move the upright upward or downward to
the desired position. Next, release the upright knob
into one of the adjustment holes in the upright. Then,
tighten the upright knob and the lock knob.
HOW TO ADJUST THE HANDLEBAR
To adjust the angle of the handlebar, first loosen the
handlebar knob. Rotate the handlebar to the desired
position and then tighten the handlebar knob.
HOW TO ADJUST THE PEDALING RESISTANCE
To increase the resistance of the pedals, turn the
resistance knob clockwise; to decrease the resistance,
turn the resistance knob counterclockwise. IMPOR-
TANT: Stop turning the resistance knob when turn-
ing becomes difficult, or you may damage the
exercise cycle.
HOW TO LEVEL THE EXERCISE CYCLE
If the exercise cycle rocks slightly on your floor during
use, turn one or both of the leveling caps on the rear
stabilizer until the rocking motion is eliminated.

FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE
The console offers a selection of features designed to
m
ake your workouts more effective. As you pedal, the
console will provide continuous exercise feedback.
Before using the console, make sure that batteries are
installed (see assembly step 10 on page 8). If there is
a sheet of clear plastic on the display, remove the
plastic.
HOW TO USE THE CONSOLE
1. Turn on the console.
Begin pedaling to turn on the console. The display
w
ill light and the console will be ready for use.
2. Follow your progress with the display.
The display can show the following exercise infor-
mation:
Time (TMR)—This mode shows the elapsed time.
Speed (SPD)—This mode shows your pedaling
speed.
Distance (DST)—This mode shows the distance
you have pedaled.
Pulse (PULSE)—This mode shows your heart rate
when you use the handgrip pulse sensor (see step
4 on page 13).
Calories (CAL)—This mode shows the approxi-
mate number of calories you have burned.
Scan (SCAN)—This mode shows the time, speed,
distance, pulse, and calories modes, for a few sec-
onds each, in a repeating cycle. Note: The pulse
mode will be displayed only when you are using
the handgrip pulse sensor.
When you turn on the
console, the scan mode
will be selected automati-
cally. The word SCAN
will appear in the display
to show that the scan
mode is selected. A second word will indicate
which exercise information is currently displayed.

You can select the time,
speed, distance, pulse,
or calories mode for con-
t
inuous display. When
the exercise information
y
ou are interested in
viewing appears in the display, press the Mode
button. The word SCAN will no longer appear in
the display. To return to the Scan mode, press the
Mode button again.
To pause the console, press the Pause button. The
entire display will stop and flash. When the con-
sole is paused, the display will not count any exer-
cise information. To exit the pause mode, press the
Pause button again.
To reset the display to zero, press the Reset but-
ton.
3. Set a time, distance, or calorie goal if desired.
To set a time, distance,
or calorie goal, you must
first select the time, dis-
tance, or calories mode
for continuous display
(see step 2 on page 12).
Make sure that the word SCAN does not appear
in the display.
Then, press the Set button repeatedly to set the
desired time, distance, or calorie goal. The display
will then count down until you reach your goal.
4. If there are sheets of
clear plastic on the
metal contacts on the
h
andgrip pulse sensor,
remove the plastic.
P
lace your hands on the
handgrip pulse sensor, with your palms on the con-
tacts. Avoid moving your hands. When your pulse
is detected, a heart symbol will flash and your
heart rate will appear in the display. Note: When a
pulse is not detected, a P will appear in the dis-
play.
For the most accurate heart rate reading, continue
to hold the handgrips for about 30 seconds.
If your heart rate is not shown, make sure that
your hands are positioned as described. Avoid
moving your hands excessively or squeezing the
metal contacts too tightly. For optimal perfor-
mance, periodically clean the metal contacts using
a soft cloth; never use alcohol, abrasives, or
chemicals.
5. When you are finished exercising, the console
will turn off automatically.
When you stop pedaling,
the word STOP will
appear in the display. If
the pedals do not move
for a few minutes, the
console will turn off and
the display will be reset.

Inspect and tighten all parts of the exercise cycle reg-
ularly. Replace any worn parts immediately.
To clean the exercise cycle, use a damp cloth and a
small amount of mild detergent. IMPORTANT: To
avoid damage to the console, keep liquids away
from the console and keep the console out of
direct sunlight.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
If the console display becomes dim or if the console
does not function correctly, the batteries should be
replaced; most console problems are the result of low
batteries. To replace the batteries, see assembly step
10 on page 8.
HANDGRIP PULSE SENSOR TROUBLESHOOTING
If the handgrip pulse sensor does not function proper-
ly, see step 4 on page 13.

These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise
program. For detailed exercise information, obtain a
reputable book or consult your physician. Remember,
proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for
successful results.
EXERCISE INTENSITY
Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your
cardiovascular system, exercising at the proper inten-
sity is the key to achieving results. You can use your
heart rate as a guide to find the proper intensity level.
The chart below shows recommended heart rates for
fat burning and aerobic exercise.
To find the proper intensity level, find your age at the
bottom of the chart (ages are rounded off to the near-
est ten years). The three numbers listed above your
age define your “training zone.” The lowest number is
the heart rate for fat burning, the middle number is the
heart rate for maximum fat burning, and the highest
number is the heart rate for aerobic exercise.
Burning Fat—To burn fat effectively, you must exer-
c
ise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of
time. During the first few minutes of exercise, your
body uses
carbohydrate calories
for energy. Only after
the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin
t
o use stored
f
at calories
f
or energy. If your goal is to
burn fat, adjust the intensity of your exercise until your
heart rate is near the lowest number in your training
zone. For maximum fat burning, exercise with your
heart rate near the middle number in your training
zone.
Aerobic Exercise—If your goal is to strengthen your
cardiovascular system, you must perform aerobic
exercise, which is activity that requires large amounts
of oxygen for prolonged periods of time. For aerobic
exercise, adjust the intensity of your exercise until
your heart rate is near the highest number in your
training zone.
WORKOUT GUIDELINES
Warming Up—Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching
and light exercise. A warm-up increases your body
temperature, heart rate, and circulation in preparation
for exercise.
Training Zone Exercise—Exercise for 20 to 30 min-
utes with your heart rate in your training zone. (During
the first few weeks of your exercise program, do not
keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer
than 20 minutes.) Breathe regularly and deeply as you
exercise–never hold your breath.
Cooling Down—Finish with 5 to 10 minutes of
stretching. Stretching increases the flexibility of your
muscles and helps to prevent post-exercise problems.
EXERCISE FREQUENCY
To maintain or improve your condition, complete three
workouts each week, with at least one day of rest
between workouts. After a few months of regular exer-
cise, you may complete up to five workouts each
week, if desired. Remember, the key to success is to
make exercise a regular and enjoyable part of your
everyday life.
