theserverandreconfigurethesamefirmwareand/orconfigurationsettingsonthereplacedpart.
Replacingthecardissimpleandstraight‐forward;however,restoringtheconfigurationsettingsand
firmwarecanbeatediousprocessif
donemanually.ThePartReplacementfeatureinLifecycle
Controllerwillrestorefirmwareandconfigurationsettingfromthenon‐functionalparttothereplaced
partinthesameslot.TheLifecycleControllerdetectsthenewreplacedpartinthesystemandapplies
changesaccordingtouserdefinedsettings.

PartReplacementfeatureisusedforrestoringconfiguration settings and/orfir mware.Thisfeatureisa
licensedfeatureandrequiresatleastanExpresslicense.TheactionsdefinedinLifecycleControllerare
appliedonthereplacedcomponentsandthecorrespondingeventsareloggedinLifecycleLog.Part
replacementiscurrentlysupportedon
thefollowingcomponents:
‐ PERCstoragecontroller
‐ Networkdevices(NIC)
‐ Fiberchannel(FC)HBAcards
‐ PSUs
Replaceablecomponentsinthesystemaretargetsforpartreplacementactions.Theseactionsinclude
flashingthenewpartwiththefirmwareversionand/orconfiguringthenewpartwiththesettingsand
configurationoftheoriginalpart.PerformingLifecycleControllerResettoDefaults(LCWipe)hasno
impacttoPartReplacementfeature.IfLifecycleControllerResettoDefaultsactionisperformed,LC
settingsforPartReplacementsettingswillberesettodefaults.Formoreinformationaboutdefault
