Shelf /Mantle installation using supplied bracket
It is important that the shelf is mounted securely.
The mounting blocks MUST be attached directly to at least (3) wall studs.
1) Place mounting bracket on wall and mark center location of a known wall stud.
2) Measure 16” for all additional screw placements. (Confirm that
your walls use 16” on center stud construction) You need to install
onto a minimum of (3) wall studs. Install onto a 4
th
if possible.
3) Using a drill bit, slightly larger than your attachment screw, pre-drill all holes.
4) Locate the desired position of the mantel shelf top. Place the mounting bracket
¼” lower than this point. Install first screw into pre-drilled hole into wall stud.
NOTE! You must use screws long enough to extend through the mounting bracket,
drywall or other wall covering and at least 1” into the stud. For example, if wall has
5/8” dry wall covering, then screws 3-1/2” long would be used.
5) Place a level on top of the mounting bracket and insure it is level. Install all
additional screws via pre-drilled holes into wall studs.
6) Slide the mantel onto the mounting bracket. Insure it is pressed firmly against
the wall.
7) Slide the mantel left or right until desired position is obtained. Mark holes
1” from wall to pre-drill for attachment screws. A minimum of (4) locations
must be marked and drilled. Check for proper fit against the wall.
After pre-drilling holes, insert the mantel back onto the mounting bracket and align
as before. Install screws via pre-drilled holes through the mantel top into the
mounting bracket. Use 1” screws.
8) Installation complete!
General notes:
It is desirable to stain, clear coat or paint the mantel shelf before installation.
Use flat head screws for mounting the mantel onto the mounting bracket. You may desire to counter
sink the pre-drilled holes slightly so the screw heads will be flush with the surface.
