Tomaintaintheappearanceandthesafetyofyourgaragedoor,
regularly clean and inspect the door and the area in which the
door operates.
•Steel, Aluminum and Ornamental Iron Doors
Washthedoorexterioratleastonetimeperyearandmorefre-
quentlyinsaltairclimates.Diluteonecupofcommonhouse-
hold detergent, like Tide? in ve gallons of warm water and
wash door with a dense sponge or cloth. Rinse door thoroughly
clean. Never blend cleansers or detergents with bleach.
•Wood and Wood Composite Doors
Wooddoorsrequireperiodicalinspectionofdoornish.Visually
inspectthedooronceayeartodetermineifthenishisweath-
ered,deterioratingorthin.Strippingandrenishingofdoormay
be required.
•Windows
Useasoftclothandcommonhouseholdglasscleaner.
•Decorative Hardware
No cleaning is required to maintain
appearance.Slightvariationsinindividualnishesareintended.
Some changes in color will occur overtime, enhancing the natu-
rallookandbeautyofeachpiece.
MAINTENANCE
Monthlysafetychecksofyourgaragedoorandopener,andan
annualvisitfromatrainedgaragedoortechnician,willmaintain
thesafetyandsmoothoperationofyourgaragedoor.
•Visual Inspection
Visually scan tracks, cables, springs, steel brackets, rollers, and
hingesforfraying,rupture,andothersignsofwear.Atrained
garage door technician must replace these items to ensure ga-
ragedoorsafety.
• Door Balance
Totestdoorbalance,rstdisconnectelectricopenerwhiledoor
isclosed(ifapplicable;refertopage2).Raisedoortowaistlevel
and slowly release. Door should hold in this position. If door
drops or raises without assistance, call a trained door systems
technician to correct the door balance.
•Door Lubrication
Lubricate hinges, springs, rollers, and bearings, with Amarr
SuperLubeorsimilarnon-silicon-basedlubricant(eg.1OW-30
motoroil)atleasttwiceperyeartomaintainsmoothoperation
ofdoor.Donotlubricatenylonrollersortracks.
• Opener Safety Device
Totestphotoeyes,standinsidegarage,safelyawayfrompath
ofdoor;pushwall buttontoclosedoor.Asdoorcloseswave
anobjectinpathofphotoelectriceyebeam.Thedoorshould
reverseandreturntothefullyopenposition.Photoeyesshould
beinstallednomorethan6abovetheoor.
•Opener Reversal
GaragedooropenersmanufacturedafterJanuary1,1993are
requiredbyFederallawtohaveadvancedsafetyfeaturesthat
complywithUL325standards.Ifareversingfeatureisnotpres-
ent, your electric opener should be replaced.
To test reversal, door must be properly balanced. Open garage
doorfully,placea11/2thickpieceofwoodontheoorunderthe
centerofthedoor.Standinsidegarage,safelyawayfrompath
ofthe door,push thetransmitterorwall buttontoclose door.
Thedoormustreversewhenitstrikesthewood.Ifthedoordoes
not reverse, contact a trained garage door technician to adjust,
repair, or replace the opener or door.
