The botanical name of the common Lilac is Syringavulgaris,
but its common name does it little justice. It is an upright,
multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub in the olive family that
typical matures to 12-16 feet tall and 8-12 feet wide. It is a
very reliable spring-flowering shrub for cold winter gardens.
Excellent choice as a specimen/accent in small groups, shrub
borders, hedges or screens. Great in cottage gardens or in
the margins of woodland gardens. Who doesn’t love plain,
simple, perfect Lilacs?
