The 100% solution dyed canopy will last longer if you fold it as it was packed and
shipped. This technique is similar to the way a parachute is folded and is especially
important when folding the canopy for seasonal storage or when left in the closed
position for an extended period of time.
Using this technique at all times will significantly extend the life of the canopy.
1. When the canopy has been fully lowered, stand in front of the canopy structure
and begin the folding process by pulling out two panels opposite the mast.
Pull the two panels together and roll tight into the canopy.
2. Once rolled tight, pull adjacent panels out one at a time and fold to the center,
alternating sides until all the panels have been pulled out from the arms and folded
into the center.
3. Strap the canopy to the mast with the strap.

1. Clean up spills and stains right away. Spills can be removed by using a clean,
absorbent cloth.
2. For general maintenance, use a soft brush to remove dust and dry soil or wash
down with clean, warm water (i.e. garden hose) every so often so dirt does not
become engrained. Allow the fabric to dry naturally before closing the canopy.
3. If a thorough cleaning is necessary, sponge over the fabric using a mild soap
solution (2% solution). Rinse well with plenty of water to remove all soap residue.
4. Never use detergents, cleaning fluids, or solvents. Grease and oil stains may be
removed by using turpentine or similar with an absorbent cloth.
5. We recommend giving the canopy a good clean on a more frequent basis if
installed in a location where the canopy is likely to become soiled.

Light Winds Only
When installed properly, the Corona is engineered to handle light wind conditions in
the open canopy position. Please adhere to these common sense wind guidelines:
1. As winds get stronger, or in anticipation or uncertain/severe weather conditions,
the canopy should be lowered to the folded and strapped position.
2. The Corona should always be left in the folded and strapped position when
unattended or not in use.
3. In anticipation of, and during extremely severe weather conditions, it is advisable to
remove and store the Corona to protect it from storm-related debris.

To open canopy:
1. Undo strap and position yourself under the canopy arms so you can easily reach
the rope.
2. Pull rope slowly to open umbrella. CAUTION: Arms will need to be freed manually
to facilitate opening the first time. NEVER force arms!
3. Continue pulling rope until the canopy is taut and lock the rope in the jam cleat.
Wind the excess rope around hook bracket.
To close canopy:
1. Stand next to the pole and pull the rope out of the jam cleat. Hold rope and
release carefully until the arms are completely folded down.

After you installed the spacer buttons and you have installed your base plate(s), adapter
plate (if using a mount kit or steel base plate), or have set up your base, you are ready
to install your umbrella.
Lift complete umbrella and install onto adapter plate. Bolt umbrella to adapter plate to
secure umbrella in place.
NOTE: Free standing BC05x steel base frames do not need adapter plate slots to
square up with umbrella.
You are now ready to operate your umbrella!
To install spacer buttons:
1. Ensure that all arms of the umbrella are free and not locked down. You will need
to pull the arms out a little way and hold them before opening the umbrella with
the winder.
2. Using the winder open the umbrella until you
can access the arms easily.
3. Screw the white plastic spacer buttons into the
pre-drilled holes on the arms of
your Shademaker umbrella. They are located
just below the connection point of the arms.

To ensure proper longevity, correct installation is essential. There are four standard
installation options which provide the best stability for the Corona. Depending on your
situation, you will have requested one or more of the following mounting kits at the time of
your order; either the Concrete Mount Kit, In-Ground Mount Kit, Wooden Deck Mount Kit,
or a Free Standing Base.
1. CONCRETE MOUNT KIT - This kit includes a base plate, four (4) stem bolts and one
(1) allen wrench.
2. IN-GROUND MOUNT KIT - This kit includes an in-ground fitting, four (4) stem bolts
and one (1) allen wrench.
3. WOODEN DECK MOUNT KIT - This kit includes two (2) base plates, four (4) stem
bolts and one (1) allen wrench.
4. FREE STANDING BASE - You may opt to use a free standing base for your Corona
umbrella. Any free standing base with a stem for a 1-1/2” diamater pole will work. We
recommend a minimum of a 100-130 lbs. (depending on the side of your umbrella)
base weight for this umbrella.

The Corona will need the Spacer Buttons inserted.
I M P O R T A N T :
Insert the Spacer Buttons Immediately!
It is imperative that the eight (8) (4, if square) spacer buttons (white plastic cups/screws)
are inserted after the canopy is opened for the first time. Spacer buttons stop the arms
from closing completely and make it much easier to open the canopy single-handedly.
When opening the canopy for the first time, the arms will have to be helped open
manually to facilitate cranking. Never force the arms! Once the canopy is open, insert
the spacer buttons. Holes have been predrilled and you will need to insert the spacer
buttons (white plastic cups/screws), one per arm.
Again, the spacer buttons for the Corona ensure that the umbrella opens easily and
prevents the arms from being locked in the down position. Until the spacer buttons are
installed, you will need to manually pull the arms out with each opening to facilitate
winding of the canopy.
Operating your umbrella without spacer buttons can result in damage to the canopy
arms, winder mechanism and/or internal parts. Never force the umbrella to open.
Damage resulting from failure to properly install the spacer buttons, and repairs resulting
from not having eight spacer buttons inserted at all times is not covered by your
Shademaker Warranty.
