Fujitsu UTZ-GXXA is an external power supply unit designed to prevent communication errors and stop of the EV valve when some indoor units in the same refrigerant system are turned off. It ensures uninterrupted operation of other indoor units by supplying power to the PCB of the turned-off indoor unit. This compact and lightweight device can be installed in various directions and positions, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. Installation is straightforward with the included accessories, and the unit operates on a 1Ø AC 24 V 50/60 Hz power supply.

INSTALLATION

MANUAL

EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLY UNIT

Do not install the unit in the following areas:

• Do not install the unit near a source of heat,

steam, or flammable gas.

• Area filled with mineral oil or containing a large

amount of splashed oil or steam, such as a

kitchen. It will deteriorate plastic parts, causing

the parts to fail or the unit to leak water.

• Area that generates substances that adversely af-

fect the equipment, such as sulfuric gas, chlorine

gas, acid, or alkali. It will cause the copper pipes

and brazed joints to corrode, which can cause

refrigerant leakage.

• Area containing equipment that generates electro-

magnetic interference. It will cause the control

system to malfunction, preventing the unit from

operating normally.

• Area that can cause combustible gas to leak, con-

tains suspended carbon fibers or flammable dust,

or volatile inflammables such as paint thinner or

gasoline. If gas leaks and settles around the unit,

it can cause a fire.

• Do not use the unit for special purposes, such as

storing food, raising animals, growing plants, or

preserving precision devices or art objects. It can

degrade the quality of the preserved or stored

objects.

• Install the unit in a well-ventilated place avoiding

rains and direct sunlight.

Do not operate this unit when your hands are wet.

Touching the unit with wet hands will cause an

electric shock.

If children may approach the unit, take preventive

measures so that they cannot reach the unit.

Pay abundant care when transporting this unit

because it is a precision device. Improper transpor-

tation will cause trouble.

Do not expose this unit directly to water. Doing so

will cause trouble, electric shock, or heating.

Do not set vessels containing a liquid on this unit.

Doing so will cause heating, fire, or electric shock.

Dispose of the packing materials safely. Tear and

dispose of the plastic packing bags so that children

cannot play with them. There is the danger of suffo-

cation if children play with the original plastic bags.

2. ABOUT THE UNIT

2.1. General

If some indoor units in the same refrigerant system

are turned off, other indoor units will also be stopped

due to communication error and EV valve stop.

These may cause a malfunction. This product sup-

plies power to the PCB of the indoor unit when the

indoor unit is turned off in order to prevent communi-

cation error and stop of the EV valve.

Operation example

When the indoor unit of tenant B is turned off, power

is supplied to indoor unit PCB, so the operation of

indoor units of tenant A and tenant C is not affected.

4.2. Installation conditions

4.2.1. Installing direction

This product can be installed in the following

5. INSTALLING THE UNIT

WARNING

Always use the accessories and specified installa-

tion work parts. Check the state of the installation

parts. Not using the specified parts will cause units

to fall off, electric shock, fire, etc.

Install at a place that can withstand the weight of

the unit and install positively so that the unit will

not topple or fall and add the wooden material for

reinforce if necessary.

When installing this unit, make sure that there are

no children nearby. Otherwise, injury or electric

shock could result.

CAUTION

Before opening the cover of this unit, completely

discharge static electricity charged on your body.

Otherwise, failure or malfunction could result.

Do not touch the circuit board and circuit board

parts directly with your hands. Otherwise, injury or

electric shock could result.

Tightening the mounting screws too tight will dam-

age the body of this unit.

Be careful so that the cover does not fall after the

cover screws are removed. Otherwise, injury could

result.

Installing the main unit with 4 screws (accessories).

6. WIRING

WARNING

Before starting installation work, turn off the power

of this unit and the connection destination. Do not

turn on the power again until installation is complet-

ed. Otherwise, it will cause electric shock or fire.

Use specified cables or accessory cables to

connect to this unit. Do not modify the cables to

connect this unit other than those specified, do not

use extension cables, and do not use independent

branch wiring. It may cause electric shock or fire.

Install the cables securely to the terminal block.

Confirm that external force is not applied to the

cable. If intermediate connection or insertion fixing

are imperfect, it will cause electric shock, fire, etc.

When connecting the cables to this unit, route the

cables so that the cover of this unit is securely

fixed. If the cover is imperfectly fixed, it may cause

fire or overheating of the terminals.

Always fasten the outside covering of the cables

with the cable clamp. (If the insulator is chafed,

electric leakage may occur.)

Perform all wiring works so that the user does not

touch the wiring. Otherwise, injury or electric shock

could result.

If any cable is damaged, do not repair or modify it

yourself. Improper work will cause electric shock

or fire.

CAUTION

When performing wiring work, be careful not to

damage the cable or injure yourself. Also, connect

the connectors securely. Loose connectors will

cause trouble, heating, fire, or electric shock.

Install this unit and cables 1 m away from television

and radio to avoid distorted images and noise.

Otherwise, a malfunction could result.

Perform wiring so that water does not enter this unit

along the external wiring. Always install a trap to

the wiring or take other countermeasures. Other-

wise it will cause trouble or electric shock or fire.

Confirm the name of each unit and name of each

terminal block of the unit and connect the wiring in

accordance with the directions given in the manual

so that there is no incorrect wiring. Incorrect wiring

will damage the electric parts and cause smoke

and fire.

Do not bind the power supply cable and connecting

cable to avoid an erroneous operation.

(1) Connect the external power supply unit and the

PCB of the indoor unit with the provided Con-

necting cable. (Depending on the model of the

indoor unit, the Adapter cable is also used.)

(2) Connect 24 VAC(±20%) power to the terminal

of the External Power Supply Unit.

(3) Connect the contact side of the relay (with the

normally closed contact) to External Power

Supply Unit .

(4) Connect the inner and relay power lines to the

circuit breaker.

(5) Connect the power line of the power transform-

er primary side to the circuit breaker.

6.2. Unit wiring

6.2.1. Power supply cable

WARNING

Use ring terminals and tighten the terminal screws

to the specified torques, otherwise, abnormal over-

heating may be occurred and possibly cause heavy

damage inside the unit.

(1) Strip the power cable as follows.

(2) Use ring terminals with insulating sleeves as

shown in the figure below to connect to the

terminal block.

(3) Securely clamp the ring terminals to the cables

using an appropriate tool so that the cables do

not come loose.

(4) Use the specified cables, connect them secure-

ly, and fasten them so that there is no stress

placed on the terminals.

(5) Use an appropriate screwdriver to tighten the

terminal screws. Do not use a screwdriver

that is too small, otherwise, the screw heads

may be damaged and prevent the screws from

being properly tightened.

(6) Do not tighten the terminal screws too much,

otherwise, the screws may break.

(7) See the table for the terminal screw tightening

torques.

(8) Do not fix 2 or more power supply cables with

1 screw.

6.3. Connecting the power supply

cable

(1) Turn the power off.

(2) Remove the 2 screws, and then remove the

cover of the main unit.

(3) Connect the power supply cable to their respec-

tive terminal block.

(4) Securely tighten the cable tie (large) and then

confirm that the cables will not come out.

6.4. Connecting the connecting

6.4.1. For indoor unit model is AUXM,

AUXK, AUXS, AG*A or AG*E

(1) Turn the power off.

(2) Attach the adapter cable to the connecting

cable.

(3) Connect the adapter cable to the connector.

(4) Bind the adapter cable with the cable clamp.

(5) Securely tighten the cable tie (large) and then

confirm that the cables will not come out.

(6) Connect the connecting cable to the PCB of the

indoor unit. Attach the EMI core (accessories)

to the indoor unit side of the connecting cable

and fix it with the cable tie (small) (accesso-

ries). Refer to the installation manual of each

indoor unit for details of the work of the indoor

unit.

6.4.2. For other indoor unit model

(1) Turn the power off.

(2) Connect the connecting cable to the connector.

confirm that the cables will not come out.

indoor unit. Attach the EMI core (accessories)

to the indoor unit side of the connecting cable

and fix it with the cable tie (small) (accesso-

ries). Refer to the installation manual of each

indoor unit for details of the work of the indoor

unit.

6.4.3. Attaching the EMI core

• Only for the following indoor unit models, you need

to attach the EMI core (accessories).

AB*A012/014/018/024

• Attaching the EMI core to the indoor unit side of

the connecting cable. Be sure to place the EMI

core on the sheath of the cable. Through the cable

tie (small) (accessory) to the slit of EMI core and

bind the cables. Refer to the installation manual

of each indoor unit for details of the work of the

indoor unit.

7. TURNING ON THE POWER

CAUTION

Check that the power supply voltage is within

the speciﬁ ed range. If the power supply voltage

outside the speciﬁ cation is input, it will cause

trouble.

Recheck the wiring. Incorrect wiring will cause

trouble.

(1) Check the wiring of this product.

(2) Turn on the power for this product and the

indoor unit.

(3) After turning on the power, confirm that the LED

(green) on the PCB of the indoor unit is lit.

(4) Turn off the power of the indoor unit and

confirm that the LED (green) on the indoor unit

PCB is blinking (repeat 3 seconds ON and 1

second OFF).

(5) Turn on the power to the indoor unit again to

confirm that it operates normally.
