Introduction
This hairdryer is part of the new Philips Salon Compact range and has
been specially designed to offer you comfortable and reliable drying. It
has a compact and lightweight design, making it easy to use. Its strong
airow dries your hair quickly, giving it the lustre, body and richness you
love.

Important
Read this user manual carefully before you use the appliance and save it
for future reference.
Check if the setting of the dual voltage switch corresponds to the
local mains voltage before you connect the appliance.
This appliance can be used at 110-127 volts or at 220-240 volts by
setting the dual voltage switch to the position corresponding to the
local mains voltage.
Check the condition of the mains cord regularly. Do not use the
appliance if the plug, the cord or the appliance itself is damaged.
If the mains cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Philips, a
service centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualied persons in
order to avoid a hazard.
Keep this appliance away from water! Do not use this product near
or over water contained in baths, washbasins, sinks etc. When used
in a bathroom, unplug the appliance after use since the proximity of
water presents a risk, even when the hairdryer is switched off.
For additional protection, we advise you to install a residual current
device (RCD) with a rated residual operating current not

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including
children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or
lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with
the appliance.
Never block the air grilles.
This appliance is equipped with an overheat protection device. If
the appliance overheats, it will switch off automatically. Unplug the
appliance and let it cool down for a few minutes. Before you switch
the appliance on again, check the grilles to make sure they are not
blocked by uff, hair, etc.
Always switch the appliance off before putting it down, even if it is
only for a moment.
Always unplug the appliance after use.
Do not wind the mains cord round the appliance.

Dry your hair by making brushing movements with the dryer at a
small distance from your hair.
Styling
The concentrator enables you to direct the airow at the brush or comb
with which you are styling your hair.
1 Connect the concentrator by simply snapping it onto the appliance.
2 Disconnect the concentrator by pulling it off the appliance (Fig. 3).
Cleaning
Always unplug the appliance before cleaning it.
Never rinse the appliance with water.
1 Clean the appliance with a dry cloth.
2 Remove the concentrator from the appliance before cleaning it.
3 Clean the concentrator with a moist cloth or by rinsing it under
the tap.
Storage
Always unplug the appliance before storing it.
Never put the appliance down on one of its air grilles. Always put it on
one of its sides.
Put the appliance in a safe place and let it cool down.
Do not wind the mains cord round the appliance.
Environment
Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste
at the end of its life, but hand it in at an ofcial collection point for
recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment (Fig. 4).

Problem Cause Solution
The
appliance
does not
work at all.
Perhaps the
socket to which
the appliance
has been
connected is
not live.
Make sure the socket is live.
The appliance
may have
overheated and
switched itself
off.
Unplug the appliance and let it cool
down for a few minutes. Before you
switch the appliance on again, check
the grilles to make sure they are not
blocked by uff, hair, etc.

Problem Cause Solution
The dual
voltage switch
may have been
set to the
wrong voltage.
Make sure that the dual voltage switch
is set to the position corresponding to
the local mains voltage. If the switch is
set to 110-127 volts while the local
mains voltage is 220-240 volts, the
hairdryer will produce a very low
airow. If the switch is set to 220-240
while the local mains voltage is 110-
127 volts, the hairdryer will produce
an abnormally loud noise due to the
extremely high fan speed.
The mains cord
of the appliance
may be
damaged.
If the mains cord is damaged, it must
be replaced by Philips, a service centre
authorised by Philips or similarly
qualied persons in order to avoid a
hazard.
