Congratulations on the purchase of your Bushnell Equinox Night Vision Monocular. Bushnell Night Vision
products are comprised of high quality image intensier tubes and optics, which amplify existing light,
allowing you to see in conditions where light levels are too low for the unaided eye.
HOW NIGHT VISION WORKS
Bushnell night vision models with analog (“Gen 1”) technology collect and amplify existing light through
the objective lens, which is then focused on the image intensier. Inside the intensier, a photocathode is
excited” by the light and converts the photon energy into electrons. These electrons accelerate across an
electrostatic eld inside the intensier and strike a phosphor screen (like a green monochrome TV screen)
which emits an image that you can see. It is the acceleration of electrons, which provides gain and enhances
the image. Your Equinox Night Vision model is categorized as a “Generation 1” type of night vision unit, and
is ideal for a variety of applications and recreational uses including: hunting, camping, boating/shing,
caving, paintball, stargazing, rescue/recovery, security surveillance and law enforcement.
INSTALLING THE BATTERY
This unit operates on one CR123 lithium battery. To install, remove the Battery Compartment Cover (1) located
on the front of the unit by unscrewing it (counter-clockwise). Insert the battery into the compartment, with
the at (negative) end facing out towards the spring in the cover. Screw the Battery Compartment Cover
back in place (clockwise).
BASIC OPERATION
Make sure a fresh battery has been installed correctly, as described in Installing the Battery”.
If you wish to test your Equinox Night Vision unit in a lighted area, be sure the objective lens cap (included,
5
not shown) is covering the Objective Lens (2) prior to pressing the ON Button (3). The objective lens cap has
a pinhole opening to admit a small amount of light for testing purposes. When testing or using the unit in
the dark, remove the objective lens cap and activate the unit by pushing the ON Button. The green Power
LED (4) indicates that the units power is on. Always remember to turn the unit o when done. Do not store
this unit while the indicator is lit.
CAUTION: This unit can be used in extreme cold weather. However, when the unit is brought back into a warm environment,
you must wait approximately 5 hours before using the unit again. Damage may occur due to condensation that may have
accumulated on the internal circuitry of the unit.
USING THE INFRARED (IR) ILLUMINATOR
Your Equinox Night Vision oers a built-in Infrared Illuminator (5). This allows you to see even in complete
darkness where no ambient light source, such as moonlight, is available. To activate, simply press the IR
Button (6) located next to the ON Button. The red IR LED (7) indicates that the Illuminator is on. The IR
Illuminator beam features an adjustable coverage angle. To narrow the beam, turn the IR Illuminator Hood
(8) counterclockwise and pull forward. To make the beam wider, push the IR Illuminator Hood (8) back and
turn it clockwise.
FOCUSING
Direct the unit at an object at a distance of approximately 100 yards and rotate the Eyepiece Ring (9) to
give the best image quality for your eyesight. After making this adjustment, it should not be necessary to
change the setting of the eyepiece unless it is moved accidently. You will use just the Objective Lens Ring
(10) to focus on objects at dierent distances. Direct the unit at the subject to be viewed and adjust the nal
focus by rotating the Objective Lens Ring (10) until the image appears as sharp as possible.
6
TRIPOD/ACCESSORY MOUNTING
Your Equinox can be mounted on any tripod with a standard ¼” socket. A built-in accessory mounting rail
(11) enables the user to attach a laser (for aiming purposes) or other compatible accessories (not included).
TROUBLESHOOTING
Scope will not turn on.
Check that the batteries are installed properly. Replace the batteries with new ones. Check the battery contacts to ensure
it is clean and free of corrosion. Check that the power is in the “ON” position.
Image is not focused.
Adjust the focus on the Eyepiece (9). Adjust the Objective Lens (10). If still no improvement, clean the lenses; they may
be foggy or dusty.
Visibility decreases or disappears.
Bright light sources such as headlights may cause visibility to degrade or disappear completely. Turn the Power OFF (3)
and turn the scope away from the light source. The unit will restore itself in 1 or 2 minutes.
Conditions such as fog or extremely dark environments will decrease visibility.
Scope ashes.
The scope may ash when used in a bright environment. It may also ash during the rst few seconds of use in dark
environments.

Spots in the image
You may see spots in the image. These vary from unit to unit and are cosmetic blemishes inside the unit. These are normal
for Night Vision units and are NOT a defect.
