1 This appliance must only be used by a responsible adult. Use and store the appliance out of
reach of children.
2 Don’t put the appliance in liquid, don’t use it in a bathroom, near water, or outdoors.
3 Keep the appliance and cable away from the edges of worktops and out of reach of
children.
4 Sit the appliance on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface.
5 Route the cable so it doesn’t overhang, and can’t be tripped over or caught.
6 Unplug the appliance when not in use, before moving and before cleaning.
7 Don’t use accessories or attachments other than those we supply.
8 Don’t use the appliance for any purpose other than those described in these instructions.
9 This appliance must not be operated by an external timer or remote control system.
10 Don’t use the appliance if it’s damaged or malfunctions.
11 If the cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or
someone similarly qualified, in order to avoid hazard.
household use only
before using for the first time
1 Fill the reservoir to the max mark, and run the appliance without coffee.
2 Let it cool, discard the water, then use it normally.
the insulated carafe
3 The insulated carafe means you can enjoy fresh, hot coffee anywhere in the home or garden.
4 If you preheat the carafe by rinsing with hot water. It’ll give you a supply of tasty, fresh coffee
for about an hour.
5 If left for much more than an hour, chemical changes in the coffee liquor start to affect the
flavour. Its best to pour it away and make a fresh pot.
6 To remove the lid, turn it µ of a turn anti-clockwise, and lift it off.
7 When you replace it, turn it µ of a turn clockwise to lock it.
8 To pour, press the lever and hold it down.

9 If it’s just been used, let the coffee maker cool down for at least 10 minutes.
10 Remove the carafe from the stand.
11 Open the reservoir lid.
12 Fill with at least 2 cups of water, but not above max.
13 Close the reservoir lid
14 Press the filter housing release.
15 Swing the filter housing out.
16 Open up a #4 paper filter, and put it into the filter holder.
17 Put filter-ground coffee into the filter. The amount will vary with the type of coffee and
individual taste, but we suggest two rounded teaspoons per cup of water.
18 Swing the filter housing back into place. You should hear it click as the catch locks into place.
prewarm the carafe
19 Remove the carafe lid, rinse the carafe with hot water, then replace the lid.
switch on
20 Sit the carafe centrally on the stand.
21 Put the plug into the power socket. The display will show 12:00.
coffee now
22 Press and release the X button.
23 AUTO will show on the display, and the light will glow red – ignore them.
24 Press and release the X button again.
a) AUTO will disappear from the display.
b) e will show on the display.
c) Shortly afterwards, coffee will start to drip into the carafe.
d) When its done, the element will turn off, and the display will revert to showing only the
clock.
coffee later
25 Set the clock to the correct time.
a) Press and release the h button until the correct hour is shown
b) Press and release the min button until the correct minute is shown
c) Leave the buttons alone for 2 seconds, to set the time.
26 Set the timer to the time you want to start brewing.
a) Press and release the T button.
b) T will show on the display.
c) Press and release the h button until the correct hour is shown
d) Press and release the min button until the correct minute is shown
e) If you don’t press either the h or min buttons within 2 seconds, the coffee maker will
revert to “normal”, and the time will show. You’ll have to press the T button, and start
again.
f) Leave the buttons alone for 2 seconds, to set the time.
g) Press the X button once.
h) AUTO will show on the display, and the light will glow red.
27 The clock will retain its settings until the coffee maker is unplugged. It will reset to 12:00 next
time you plug it in.
28 When the set time is reached, the display will change from “AUTO” to e, and brewing will
start.
29 If you want to stop the coffee maker while it’s brewing, press the X button.
30 If you want to cancel the timer before brewing has started, press the X button twice.
a quick cup
31 You can remove the carafe at any time. The non-drip valve will prevent coffee dripping on to
the stand.
32 To prevent the filter holder overflowing, replace the carafe on the stand within about 20
seconds.
care and maintenance
33 Unplug the appliance and let it cool down before cleaning or storing away.
34 Press the filter housing release.
35 Swing the filter housing out.
36 Tip the contents of the filter holder into the bin.
37 Lift the filter housing up and off the appliance.
38 Hand-wash the filter holder, filter housing, and carafe.
