Functional Ground Terminal. Primarily used for functional
earth terminals which are generally associated with test and
measurement circuits. These terminals are not for safety earthing
purposes but provide an earth reference point.
Protective Earth Ground Terminal. Primarily used for protective
earth terminals. These terminals connect to conductive parts of a
device for the purpose of safety and is intended to be connected
to an external system for protective grounding.

1. One conductor cable, color-coated, 22 AWG wire gauge with an operating
temperature of 175 °F (80 °C).
2. A light chain or rope to suspend the unit to the ceiling.
NOTE: A suspension bead chain and push mount links are provided as an
attachment point to suspend the unit.

5 - MOUNTING THE ENCLOSURE
1. Loosen the four screws and remove the top cover. The screws are designed so that
they stay assembled to the cover when removed from the rest of the enclosure.
Make sure to keep the gasket in place on the cover.
Only properly trained service personnel may perform installation and service
procedures. (In other words: electricians, service personnel employed by or active
in an organization, business, or service).
All power sources must be disconnected prior to wiring and installing.
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage equipment and impair electrical
circuitry. ESD damage occurs when electronic components are improperly
handled and can result in complete or intermittent failures.
Warranty is void if the Humidity Sensor is used in a manner not specied by the
manufacturer.
1 - NOTICES
WARNING: Read the following text carefully; it contains important
information which, if ignored, may cause the controller to operate
improperly.

Failure to comply with the required material and with the mounting
instructions voids warranty.
Do not make any holes on the top of the enclosure that would allow
water to enter the enclosure.
NOTE: Do not install on an outside wall, or in the path of incoming air.

2. Pass one end of the cable through the cable gland grommet into the enclosure.
Tighten the cap on the cable gland to seal around the cable. Connect conductors
to the terminals as shown in the wiring diagram on the inside of the cover and in
Figure 5 on page 2.
3. Pass the bead chain through the holes of the plastic enclosure and lock it in with
the provided lock links. See Figure 2. The bead chain loop is used to attach to
another chain or rope.
4. Install the humidity probe near the middle of the room. Use a rope or a chain
to suspend the probe from the ceiling. The humidity probe should hang
approximately four feet above oor level. See Figure 1.
5. Make a loop in the power cable outside the humidity probe enclosure to prevent
moisture from entering the enclosure.
6. Connect the other end of the cable to the environment controller. Wiring depends
on the model of the controller.

Wiring depends on the model of the controller. The basic circuit is shown in Figure 5.
9 - WIRING DIAGRAM
The HS-1 humidity probe is an important part of humidity control management for livestock. Regular maintenance ensures optimal function of the HS-1.
You need to replace the plastic lter every four months.
Protect the probe from the high pressure wash when you are cleaning the room.
Before clean out, move the sensor up to the ceiling or against the wall to keep it out of path of cleaning equipment that might cause mechanical damage to the unit.
Do not spray the sensor directly with high pressure washer.
Use a clean cloth with mild soap if necessary to clean the unit on a regular basis.

6 - REPLACING THE PLASTIC FILTER (Part No. 550-00265)
1. Un-screw the plastic lter in the same way you would remove a twist cap from a bottle. See Figure 3.
2. Screw the new lter into place. Make sure to tighten so that the rubber O-ring is squeezed between the lter and the sensor enclosure.
