SPECIAL SAFETY MEASURES
X Never touch the hot outer surfaces of the kettle
when the water is boiling or when there is hot
water still inside. (With the exception of the heat
insulated handle) Always allow the kettle to cool
prior to cleaning and storing.
X Disconnect the appliance from the electricity
supply during prolonged storage, prior to filling it
with water/emptying it or prior to moving it from one place to
another.
X The appliance should always be used on a heat resistant,
horizontal dry surface
X To avoid being burnt by hot vapor always close the lid tightly
before switching the device on. WARNING! Never open
the lid immediately before or after boiling tempera-
ture is reached.
X Before switching the kettle on always check that there
is water inside and that the water level is between
minimum and maximum. If the kettle is switched on with-
out water, or it overheats, the automatic cut-off devise will
switch it off. If the safety device is activated, allow the kettle to
cool completely before switching on again. The kettle will not
switch on whilst it is too hot.
X WARNING! Frequently switching the kettle on with-
out water might result in the safety device failure;
always check the water level making sure it is not too
low
X Always switch the kettle off prior to lifting it from the base.
X Use the kettle only with the supplied base.
X Always fill the kettle with cold water. WARNING! Do not fill
with liquid other than water. Do not use hot or ice
cold water.
X Connect the device only to an electrical supply with a protec-
tive earthing. If your socket has no protective earthing, con-
tact a qualified specialist. Do not modify the plug and do not
use cord adapters. WARNING! Electric shock might oc-
cur if the kettle is plugged into an unearthed power
supply.
X Clean the heating element of the kettle often to de-scale it.
Remember that use of a heavily scaled kettle might result in its
malfunction. WARNING! De-scale the kettle using only
specially designed cleaning agents.
X Before turning the kettle on, make sure that the lid is closed;
otherwise the kettle will not turn off after boiling.
X After use of the appliance, the base of the kettle might be wet.
It is a normal condition of operation, caused by escaping steam,
used to activate the kettle’s automatic turning off function.
X Do not tilt the filled kettle backwards, since water can spill
through the steam vent. If this happens, the kettle should be
wiped before turning it on.
X Do not take the electric cord out of the socket during operation
of the appliance. You should first turn it off.
X After using the appliance let it cool for a few minutes. After
that you can boil water in it again.

CLEANING AND CARE
1. Before cleaning or storing, unplug the kettle
from the power supply and wait until it com-
pletely cools down.
2. To avoid electric shocks, do not submerge
the kettle casing (5), its base (7) and power
cord (8) in water. These parts can be cleaned
by using a damp lint-free cloth. Non-abrasive
washing detergents can be used.
3. To clean filter (3), remove the filter and wash it out from out-
side with clean running water. The filter must be washed out
regardless of whether it has scale deposit on it or not.
4. Store the device only after its parts are completely dried.
USEFUL ADVICE
In hard water areas it is important to do the
de-scaling regularly to keep the kettle in good
working condition, because too much scale inside
may cause the kettle not to work. For the best
performance of your kettle, decalcify the unit from
time to time. The frequency depends on the hard-
ness of your tap water and how many times you
have used the kettle (e.g. once for 200 uses). If the water in your
house is hard we advise you to use filtered water as it will slightly
decrease scale formation.
2 methods of decalcification:
Using 9% white vinegar:
X Fill the kettle with 0.5 liter of hot water and add two table-
spoonful of 9% white vinegar.
X Let the kettle soak for 1 hour without boiling.
X Stir the liquid in the kettle from time to time.
X Pour out the liquid and wash it out 2-3 times with cold clean
water.
Using citric acid:
X Mix 25g of citric acid with 0.5 liter of boiling water.
X Pour the mixture in the kettle.
X Leave to soak for 15 minutes.
X Empty your kettle and rinse it two or three times with tap cold
water.
X Repeat the process if needed.
Any other servicing should be performed only by an autho-
rized service center.
The appliance should not be stored while hot or plugged in.
When not in use, allow the kettle to cool then put it back into the
box and store out of reach of children in a safe, dry place.
